Goaldeje
The 2000 NFL Draft follows. My question to you is, would you go back and do things differently now, knowing what you do? And if so, who would you have picked instead (aside from Trung Candidate, that's a no-brainer). Interested to see what, and who you think... 1 1 Cleveland Browns Courtney Brown DE Penn St. 2 2 Washington Redskins (from New Orleans) LaVar Arrington OLB Penn St. 3 3 Washington Redskins (from San Francisco) Chris Samuels OT Alabama 4 4 Cincinnati Bengals Peter Warrick WR Florida St. 5 5 Baltimore Ravens (from Atlanta) Jamal Lewis HB Tennessee 6 6 Philadelphia Eagles Corey Simon DT Florida St. 7 7 Arizona Cardinals Thomas Jones HB Virginia 8 8 Pittsburgh Steelers Plaxico Burress WR Michigan St. 9 9 Chicago Bears Brian Urlacher OLB New Mexico 10 10 Baltimore Ravens (from Denver) Travis Taylor WR Florida 11 11 New York Giants Ron Dayne HB Wisconsin 12 12 New York Jets (from San Francisco) Shaun Ellis DE Tennessee 13 13 New York Jets (from Tampa Bay) John Abraham OLB South Carolina 14 14 Green Bay Packers Daniel Franks TE Miami (FL) 15 15 Denver Broncos (from Baltimore) Deltha O'Neal CB California 16 16 San Francisco 49ers (from New York Jets) Julian Peterson OLB Michigan St. 17 17 Oakland Raiders Sebastian Janikowski PK Florida St. 18 18 New York Jets Chad Pennington QB Marshall 19 19 Seattle Seahawks (from Dallas) Shaun Alexander HB Alabama 20 20 Detroit Lions Stockar McDougle OT Oklahoma 21 21 Kansas City Chiefs Sylvester Morris WR Jackson St. 22 22 Seattle Seahawks Chris McIntosh OT Wisconsin 23 23 Carolina Panthers (from Miami) Rashard Anderson CB Jackson St. 24 24 San Francisco 49ers (from Washington) Ahmed Plummer CB Ohio St. 25 25 Minnesota Vikings Chris Hovan DT Boston College 26 26 Buffalo Bills Erik Flowers DE Arizona St. 27 27 New York Jets (from Tampa Bay) Anthony Becht TE West Virginia 28 28 Indianapolis Colts Rob Morris ILB Brigham Young 29 29 Jacksonville Jaguars R. Symbol
I still say we did good in the draft that year. Plus there's some other extremely talented defensive players on that list.
Drex
The skins originally had 3 first round picks in that draft: #3,12 and 24, with 12 and 24 packaged together to move up to #3 via a trade with San Francisco. In hindsight, I would have kept the 3 picks and drafted Samuels at #2, John Abraham and #12 and Keith Bullock at #24.
RedskinsNation
R.Jay Soward.....thats a name I havent heard in a long time. Wasnt he supposed to be the next Meshawn?
bcl05
That's a pretty strong 1st round overall.
canesluver
Abraham & Alexander would have been nice.
PleaseBlitz
Lots of players on that list are nice. Lots are not. In the grand scheme of things, we did awfully well. Samuels continues to be one of the best LT's in the league, a position that I feel is just as important as any other besides QB. Lavar has given us 6 good years. Most guys dont stay with a team for that long in this era of free agency.
skinsfan93
That's a pretty strong 1st round overall. Strong first round??? You're joking right? I would say that was a very weak draft, at least the first round picks. There are a couple of players...Alexander, Urlacher, Abraham. But wow, Warrick, Brown, Taylor...all in the top 11. That round sucked!

I was thinking something along those lines, until I remembered that we don't draft DEs, apparently. I supose Julian Peterson would have worked out alright instead of Abraham... fwo40
Ahh back when we stockpiled draft picks..instead of giving them away like they were poisonous.

Every draft has about a 50/50 hit/miss chance in the first round. Would you prefer the year before with Tim Couch, Akili Smith, David Boston, Cade McNown and Troy Edwards all taken in the first 13 picks? Or the year before that with Ryan Leaf, Andre Wadsworth, Curtis Enis, Jason Peter and Kevin Dyson. 2001 had David Terrell, Koren Robinson, Jamal Reynolds, Rod Gardner amongst its busts. PotomacSkinsFan
I think that if we know what we do now that we take Brian Urlacher.

I think you can delete David Boston from your list. He has had some injury problems, but I guarantee you when he is healthy, he will be a great possession receiver. He did well in Arizona for cryin' out loud!
Vegas-Born
I like Urlacher...but honestly I have to agree with Drex...Bullock and any one else in that draft would have been just as good.
Dirk Diggler
Personally, I would take Samuels and Tom Brady if I had it to do all over again. If Brady was not an option due to the fact that he was barely even considered draftable at the time, I would take John Abraham.
Mr Platypus
Deltha O'Neal would've been nice. Most INTs the last 5 years, I think. Although, I think Arrington and Samuels worked out nicely.
