radagast5
This is from the files of Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics. Entirely arcane fact I read recently that pretty much dooms us to lose: the last 12 times the Redskins have thrown for 250+ yards in a game, their record the following week is 1-11. Brunell's passing yards vs. Dallas: 291. Don't know what to make of that, probably shouldn't make anything of that, but it is interesting.
Fighting for old D.C.
Wow what a bizarre stat. I hope it's just a coincidence.
ccsl2
The question is, how many of those 12 games came under spurrier??
E-Dog Night
Without doing any research, my gut tells me that a lot of those were attributable to Spunky.
E-Dog Night
And, I guess it was a lead-pipe lock that the Redskins would lose against a coach that was 77-0 with a 13+ point lead in the 4th quarter. Or not.
SkinzRool
Here's to hoping that the Skins break that trend :seahawksu
Truant
The Skins haven't won consecutive games in SOOO long, I think THAT is the underlining truth in that statistic. It's interesting though, good find

I'm sure they are not good.
illone
www.statfox.com Tons of weird trends and interesting statistics. Just click NFL--> GAME MATCHUP---> then click matchup report for the game/team you want to view. However, I throw most of these crazy stats out the window because we're a different team under Gibbs. This year is going to change a bunch of these for the better.
Loxley
arent we something-0 when clinton portis rushes for 100 yards plus? sorry im not one to go into the whole stats breakdown, i prefer to believe in chance (or chaos, whichever you think is more relevant on the day) determining what will happen rather than a predetermined set of statistics. Before anyone points out i know you said the game after the game when we throw etc. I think we should just collectively cross our fingers, legs, toes, antlers (or whatever else you might have) and root for our team. Thats what supporters normally do. I guess we should just hope that ol CP rolls up on Seattle for more than 100 yards then.
rydemps
And...what is the 'Skins record after a bye? There are too many factors to just look at one.
PiLfan
the last 12 times we threw for over 250 yards in a game?.....dang, that must go back a ways...

Matter of fact, Dallas was the 1st game where Portis played and did NOT get 100 yards and we won (not counting Minny when he was out) since CP has been a Redskin. I'm not sure we've ever thrown for that many yards under the new Gibbs Regime UNTIL Dallas.
Skins24
The W was against the world champion New England Patriots (Ramsey had 348 against the Giants the previous game)
raperry2
lets focus on the game we won out of the 12, that means its possible.
SeanTheBeastTaylor
the 12 times we threw over 250+ passing yards i'm sure most of those were losses and the only reason we got that many passing yards is because we were behind in those games and had to come back. radagast5
havent we already beat enough stupid stats agianst us in just two games this year ? Oh sure. I mentioned the stat not because it really guaranteed much of anything; I'm relatively sure it's just a weird anomaly because, other than being a generally poor team in recent years, there's really no underlying logic that would explain that stat. I think I saw it as part of some betting information somewhere. Just thought it was an interesting stat.
REEM10
I have to take a friend of mines quote: If a "IF" was a 1/5 we'd all be drunk!!! You really have to dig deep for a stat like that.
