Haha. That last line about Gore was definitely sultry. -

If they waited until this year, you don’t get anywhere close to the return that he got. You definitely don’t get Abrams, Gore, and Wood. You may get a Susana and some other filler. -

Irvin was really impressive. I had the feeling that his last outing was a function of a poor Oakland team, but to do this against LAD is quite encouraging. Series win in LA with the two winning pitchers coming from their draft. Rutledge went two innings again tonight. Great news that he’s back. Bad news is that it’s another short start (rain). Hard for him to get in a groove. -

Hope they call up Wood for Friday. Definitely thinking about going. Abrams and Winker are really swing the bats well. CJ just lined out to RF, and I think it was a better swing than his homerun. -
There is so much wrong with this. The Oscars were over a month ago. “Commonly known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME”. Wouldn’t one state the disease, then say commonly known as the nickname or abbreviation? Jimmy Kimmel was the host. Al Pacino announced the Oppenheimer win. Kimmel and Pacino are two different people. They don’t say “and the winner is”. They say “and the Oscar goes to…”. What a ****ing ****stain.

I didn’t hear their show, so I’m not sure about context. I understand and agree that Williams most likely won’t take you deep into games, but I felt that his hook against Oakland was too soon. They were up five to a light hitting A’s team, he let two guys get on base, so what. Let him work out of it. His pitch counts don’t matter like they do for Gore. A third time through the order shouldn’t be a hard rule. Yeah, you don’t ideally want to face the Dodgers a third time, but a team like Oakland? It’s going to be really tough to get through the season when the pen has to pitch 4+ innings every night. If that’s going to happen, I think they should have more multi-inning relievers. A guy like Adon (who had a nice start tonight) or Herz or Spencer Watkins would work well in that role. It’s tough to go through a series with nine relievers and you have one guy pitch three games in a row and another pitch two, warm up in the third, and then pitch the first game of the next series. At the same time, you have two guys who didn’t get an appearance against Oakland. In an unrelated non-bullpen note, Hassell and Crews were a combined 0-8 heading into the ninth. Hassell triples and Crews walks ‘em off. Almost as exciting as watching Young score from first on an Abrams triple. -

Can we give Luis Garcia some love? This is a guy who was massively disappointing last season. Many people wanted to move on from him, but he is mashing early this season: 8 XBH, 143 OPS+. He made two wonderful plays in the field last night. A very encouraging start to the season. -

What a night for Mitchell Parker. Five IP, 2ER, 4 Ks including Betts twice and Ohtani. No walks. They don’t need the fifth starter for a bit. But just keep him up. He’s earned it. Not like the extra reliever will get in anyway. -

That’s awesome. Imagine making your debut and you have to face Betts, Ohtani, and Freeman as your first three batters. -

Sounds like it is. Probably makes sense to fly him home now and see if he can if he can go on the homestand. -

Getting a little worried about Ruiz. Looks like Millas is coming back up meaning, someone has to go to the IL. Pretty long time to be out with the flu. -
It’s because there is a floor to how far they can fall. You can see that they have a better chance at moving up than they do at staying the same. And then the chance decreases for the third and fourth slot. If there wasn’t a floor, the chance to pick 5 would be less than 4, but the chance to pick 7 would be greater than 0.

Just poor bullpen management. 6-1 with runners two guys on, just let Williams close it out. Who cares if those two runs score. This isn’t Gore where you worry about his pitch count. Williams isn’t scheduled to pitch until Saturday. Now you’re to using guys three days in a row with Weems. If you can’t find a spot for Rainey in three days at Oakland, why is he on the roster? Unreal DP by Vargas and Abrams just now. -

Sounds right. After Rutledge got hurt, this was the likely move. -

K day for Gore. 11 in five innings. I’d imagine they’d pull him as he has 90 pitches. -

Wood on base three out of five times so far today. You can choose to walk him, but it’s like giving up a 2B as he has three steals in the first game. Gotta be Friday when he makes his debut. Looks like Gore will make the start. So you’ll have Gore, Abrams, and Wood all in the lineup as they kick off the five year WS anniversary series against Houston. On another note, Garrett is playing for Harrisburg today in his first game action since his injury. -

Check the fridge in case you got really drunk and tossed it in there hoping to wake up to some cold hard cash…not that I’ve ever done that. -

Twelve base runners and only one run. Give up three hits in 10 innings and lose. Frustrating. -

Cool. Got worried when Vargas didn’t catch that foul ball. BTW, Ruiz hasn’t played in four days straight. Is he banged up?
