  1. No thanks on Ingram. I don't desire a 30 anything at RB, and I would not pay someone 5 mil to replace Barber. We need someone who can bellcow a bit, so Gibson does not have to. Barber's role is simply short yardage.... and hes honestly kind of a stud at it. He just gives you nothing as a bellcow. A 5th or 6th rounder would get the job done.
  2. Seriously doubt J Allen would be a piece in any trade w/ Hou. They are already cash strapped, having to move JJ Watt's 17Mil. Pulling Allen's 10 Mil back negates most of that. Plus he is on the last year of his deal, meaning they would have to pay him next year. Even if they have him as the better player, they would be more likely be interested in Payne, Settle or Io as they are either on longer or cheaper deals. Young would be off the table, and they would bang hard for Sweat, but I don't see us giving him up either. From a contract standpoint, with their cap situation, Allen may hurt more than he helps. For that same reason Kyle Allen may be of interest. Getting a QB on the roster for sub 1 Mil is a steal, even for a backup and moving him would not hurt our own cap. Tua and Darnold would be super cheap for Hou as well, but pricey on the trading team. Tua would cost Mia like 14 mil in dead cap to move. Darnold would cost the jets 10 Mil in dead cap
  3. Maybe but dude is the OC of the Chiefs. There is a 99% he will be just as desired next year. Feels like an Urban Myer situation where this guy can bide his time and wait for a premium opportunity. If he's gotta wait another year, so be it. He is one of the hottest names in coaching, no reason to force yourself into a situation that is not at least promising.
  4. Watson has beef w/ the owner and that dude is going nowhere. At best, all you can do is put a cap on the situation and pray it does not reach critical mass. Might buy you a year or two. But you can bet after every loss, obstacle or speed bump every reporter will be poking and prodding. And if Easterby is anywhere near the Texans... it gets so much worse. I don't think HOU's brass want Bieniemy, and I don't think he is putting time in on coaching interviews until after the playoffs. Meanwhile all the other coaches are getting snapped up into available head coaching and coordinator positions leaving HOU out in the cold. I don't think they have the BALLS to piss off Watson and hire someone, so their QB has them by theirs right now. And even after all that.. Eric is a hot coaching prospect. He may not want to go to a 4 win team with negative money and no draft picks even if that does get him Watson. Absolute mess over there.
  5. Hou will want the best package possible, but this is not about what Hou wants. Watson's no trade clause means he gets to choose his next destination, and he wont care what Hou gets back in return. If Watson's short list of acceptable landing spots only features teams that are unable or unwilling to give a draft pick high enough to get a top QB in the draft, than Hou is flat outta luck. We have a pretty good inclination that he will accept a trade to MIA, and they could facilitate that, but we don't know how much they value Tua and their high draft picks, or if Hou would even want Tua if they are just going to take a new guy. I'm sure the Jets would love to acquire him, but who knows if Watson will accept a trade to a bad team that is losing its best assets to get him. A lot of ??? around this, and that kind of keeps us in a state of play
  6. the head coach who puts the game plan together the GM who has to carry an extra position player to make up for his fragility the guy signing the checks the fans who come to see their favorite players The DC of the opposing team who no longer has to game plan against your #1 option Regardless of what a player can or can not do, the single greatest ability for any player in any sport is availability. Cant help your team from a hospital bed. A guy who is constantly injured is a guy who gameplans himself, and there is no place for that at the top of an NFL roster. He would just be a cap drain and a wasted roster spot. It is the same story for mobile QBs that don't protect themselves during a game. eventually you will get hurt, and if you get hurt, you are not helping anyone. We have seen that first hand with less than durable players, RG3 being the biggest example. Him and the LEGENDARY comb of course. Edit: I know jack squat about Taylor's previous injuries, so I don't know if they are flukey or a result of him being reckless, the above was an "in general statement"
  7. Not really comparable. Brees is playing a division opponent... for the third time this year. Pretty sure they are some of the most well prepared players on the planet at this point. Nothing from this game should effect how you evaluate Taylor.
  8. Step 1 of D Wat requesting a trade looks imminent. Now we need to get our GM situation completed yesterday and figure out what we are willing to give for him. It would have to start with 2 1sts and likely includes a D-lineman. I'd also throw in a 3rd and their choice of any QB on our roster. I'd go up to 3 1st, but you'll lose some sweeteners. I know they need to move Watt as well due to cap constraints, but any deal that tries to include him and Wattson is madden territory.
  9. I think we have a better shot at getting him than people think. Not great, but better. That no trade clause Watson has is critical. He can provide a short list of destinations, and veto any move that is not to his personal liking. There is next to no way he chooses to go to a bad team. Even if a bad team has the ammo, why would Watson choose to go to a team like the Jets? A Jets team sans most of its draft picks at that. If you cant provide a better roster than what Watson currently has, I don't see him accepting a trade to your team. Very unlikely they hand him to a div rival so Indy is a no go. A team like the 49ers or Bears could offer good teams and the NFC, but you'd be signing up to be in a division that features ARI,SEA,LA or the Packers. Not ideal Mia is an good fit, with tons of ammo, but we don't know how the dolphin's view Tua, how Hou views or even wants Tua, and it puts you in a division with Buffalo and NE. Den offers all kinds of talent on O, but its prob not a good idea to be in the same Div as Mahomie, even if they are buddies. Lets call that the anti-Patrick Price Wsh can provide a good team, the NFC, the NFC East, and cap space to further build around him even if we purge our picks. That is pretty appealing. Just b/c your not the most likely landing spot does not mean you don't swing. Can't hit a game winning dinger if your committed to strike out looking.
  10. I think that is a great analogy, an I'd see the Watson scenario as thus: What if that swimsuit model happens to bump into you before your quite ready? You've been working out a while, making good progress but out of the blue, here comes an 11/10 Do you slink away and not try your luck, or do you go for it. I'd say go for it. The better the team gets, the worse your draft pick gets, so unless your hope is a back of the 1st round QB pans out, your trading multiple 1st rounders to move up anyway. And what are the chances that guy, who is an unproven commodity, is even half of what Watson is. Young franchise signal callers don't hit FA. You have to either trade for one or draft one. The longer you wait, and the better you build your roster, the more your giving up to go get your guy anyway in the draft scenario when the time comes to move up. People dream their young QB can whiff what D Watt is. If you can get him outright, screw the timetable, do what you gotta do to make it happen. Like you said, that next swimsuit model may never come, or they may be an 8 or 9/10. You can either bank on the stars aligning, or you can fly up there and move them around yourself.
  11. What? Really? I didn't even know that was possible I've seen some guys w/ anger issues, or poor work ethic, but never a diva at the C position. One of these days he will decide to go full Leroy, not snap the ball the the QB, and just run the ball himself
  12. They would have to hurt themselves pretty bad to tag him again. Their best play is to give him the contract he wants, and backload it so his first year cap hit is only 20 or so, making the other years like 45. FA is before the draft and it will be very difficult for Dallas to commit any kind of money to anyone without first solving the QB situation and figuring out what kind of cap space they are looking at. (both in the black and in the red) Their entire offseason is handcuffed until that problem is solved, so I'd be shocked if it is not sorted out before FA. It will be interesting to see what Indy will do at QB. could re-shape the whole playing field
  13. I'd agree and it should be done quickly. No WR is coming w/ the promise of getting a QB. You gotta already have the guy on the roster. If we don't trade for a QB, the earliest we can sign a guy is the start of FA, which is well before the draft. If you take the time to get your QB situation solved, a few of the WRs you may have preferred may already be off the table.
  14. It would be stupid not to. We should have a guy working full time to bang on Dak's agents door yelling "tell me the number, we will match it". Make your interest known to the public. Drive that price as high as possible He is going to get 40M + a year Of course it would all have to be secretive, Tampering and all that. Maybe don't give the guy banging on the door the planned megaphone.
  15. Dak does not equal Deshaun. A team that trades for him also would not have to pay 40+ Mil like you would for Dak. the cap hits would be: $10.54 million in 2021, $35 million in 2022, $37 million in 2023, and $32 million in 2024 and in 2025. https://overthecap.com/deshaun-watson-unhappy-with-texans/ That is not enough money to offset the assets you'd have to ship out, but from a purely financial standpoint you laugh all the way to the bank having a elite QB on those numbers. I don't see him leaving Dallas, but Dak in FA would not be a bad get either. You'll have to give up Mahomes money tho. FA will boost his yeild
  16. You add Watson alone to our roster and we are runaway NFC East champs. You add Watson and another WR... NFC SB contender if not fav. If Watson is demanding a trade, they have to move him. And you trade the farm to bring him in. 3 1s if that is what it takes. 25 yr old Elite QB. How many of those in the league? 3? Watson has a no trade clause so he will not be shipped off to the highest bidder. Dont have to beat the best NFL offer, just the best one of a team he is willing to go to. If the trade demand is true... Dear God you make that happen and worry about the cost later. And if you can get Watson. You can take your pick at WR as any of them will WANT to play here
  17. Settle I think 5:14 if anyone wants to see it in motion. I was losing my mind
  18. I've long held Watson as my fever dream for a reason. I realize that a trade is both difficult and impossible without the player himself demanding it. But if he does, what choice does the Hou organization have? Even if they have to eat a MASSIVE dead cap hit, when the face of your franchise demands a trade, you don't have a lot of options. And here is the kicker... After the Watkins trade, Watson installed a no trade clause in his new deal. He will have to approve any proposed trade in order for it to go through. Most great teams wont have the assets necessary to trade for a QB of his caliber, or it wont be worth said assets for the upgrades he would provide. Watson will not want to go to a bad team that would not be able to field a SB roster right off the bat, so a lot of the worst teams in the league w/ a glaring hole at QB would be out of the running We could be looking at an NBA superstar trade situation where the player dictates where he goes by providing a short list to management. Due to our strong D, and young talent, Wsh would almost certainly be on that list. It is amazingly unlikely that any of this happens. It would likely require Hou hiring Chip Kelly, or Watson getting in a fist fight w. his GM. A Zombie can dream tho.... or fever dream as it is.
  19. Some people are speculating he does not like the GM hire. People on every social media platform are currently pushing him to ask for trade.
  20. The house, the guest house and the yacht. Watson's cap hit is only 15 next yr. Their shelves are bare in terms of money and draft picks. They will likely have to trade away JJ Watts 17 mil. hit. That being said Watson is untouchable. The only way we can pry him away is if he A - hates the new coach B - refuses to be a part of a long term rebuild Unless he demands a trade, he is going nowhere. He is my fever dream at QB tho. I'd constantly be shooting texts to Hou GM about what it would take.
  21. Its gotta take a lot of big words to make anyone believe any NFL player can be called a nerd from an interview.
  22. Can you blame him? That coach looks like he needs to bench his QBs in order to live. Daddy needed his fix.
  23. Unless we solve our QB situation early in the offseason, what FA WR of quality will want to come here? We may have to eyeball trades really hard just to get an impact player at the position. Gaze hard at the teams that are struggling with the cap and start making offers for their wideouts.
