  1. I'm obviously not suggesting Nix in round 1. I'm not even saying it has to be Nix. That''s just a thought based on what I've seen of him, but he's not the guy in this draft I want most. One thing I am saying is that if I'm taking a QB with pick 1.2 -- I want to strongly feel that he will be The Guy. I just don't feel that strongly about any of the top 3 QBs being discussed. Odd that you ask me why I feel Nix is a franchise QB, when I've said nothing of the kind. Better that you tell us why whichever QB you want at 1.2 will definitely lead us to the promised land. I'm saying that MHJ is the best player in the draft, IMO, and as of right now he'd be my pick at 1.2 if the Bears don't take him first.
  2. Not sure where I said that. Please do point it out for me. Thank you.
  3. You say taking Nix in the 2nd round would be a reach, then say you have a 2nd round grade on Nix. I'm not sure how to make sense out of that. It seems to me that my current thinking that MHJ in round one and a QB like Nix in round 2 might be a plan would be the opposite of a reach, using your grades. No? Hey, I feel good about the possibility of hiring the type of GM and head coach we are all hoping for. I'll rely on their takes on these guys. But, as I said, I'm not at all convinced as of now that any of the big 3 QBs are the elusive franchise guy we've been looking for forever. If our new brain-trust does, I'll support them and hope they are right. I'm just saying that as of right now, the guy I feel best about as our first pick is MHJ. High floor and high upside. No one is bust-proof, but MHJ is about as close to bust-proof as it gets, IMO.
  4. MHJ the best football player in this draft - at the X, a position we need badly. I'd agree with you if I was comfortable that a franchise QB would be there for us. I'm not. Take MHJ. Nix may be a good lottery pick in round 2 once you've got MHJ in the fold.
  5. The surest way to get improved QB play, IMO, is to draft MHJ if he's there at 1.2.
  6. They've got pills that can help with that. 😃

  8. https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Johnny-Wilson-WR-ArizonaState I'm not so sure he's all that sluggish. I think perhaps it is optics. His height makes him look different when he runs, but it seems like he has some speed to me. The 4.42 40 time listed on draft buzz seems to indicate that, as well. I realize we are looking at highlights here, and there is a lot more to see, but I'm impressed at Wilson's recognition of plays that have gone off-script and his ability to work his way back to the QB, get open, and make himself a target. A lot of catches on that highlight reel where he wasn't the primary. Draft Buzz seems higher on him than anyone else. There's a wide range of opinions on him. The mock simulators don't really have a consensus, either. Interesting. As with a lot of guys, the Senior Bowl and Combine may do a lot to help create a consensus on Wilson. Lord knows we could use a guy with his size and contested catch skills in the red zone. He'd be quite a guy to get in round 3, IMO, if he can last that long.

  10. I don't follow. If ARIZ is at 2 and they want Harrison, they can just take him. We would then get QB2 if that's who we want. No need to swap picks.
  11. YPC is hard to gauge. College football stats count sacks as negative rushing yards for the QB. I don't know how many sacks he had for how much yardage. Plus, playing for an undefeated team, I would guess that he may have had more than his fair share of kneel-downs, which would negatively impact his YPC number.

  13. He sure made a lot of tackles, but he could use some more meat on his bones, IMO.
  14. Apparently not. See HigSkin's post at top of page 33 in this thread. Johnson's agent stated this is 100% false and irresponsible reporting.
  15. Man, I'd hate to think they would put Howell at risk of injury by falsifying an injury to Leno. I seriously doubt it.

  17. Hey, I've been a fan of Siemian for a long time. He played at my alma mater. I just can't realistically see the Jets scoring many points. Weird situation. I want us to lose for the draft position, but I know I would still root for the Commanders if I watched, so I may not watch the game.
  18. Clearly losing this game would help the Commanders future, draft-pick-wise, but the coaches and players have their careers to think about and will be giving it their best. Assuming that's true, I have to be honest and say that it is hard for me to say the Jets will win this game. Commanders, 20-16.
  19. PFF only lets you do 3 rounds with no trades for free. I'm not about to pay them, especially with some of their wacky rankings. For example, they have Beebe at #150. I don't think there is any way that happens, barring injury. I considered it totally unrealistic to hold off and grab him at #100, so I took him at #68. I tend to doubt he lasts that long, but it is at least possible. Continuing the draft from here, Stover and Sinnott were still on the board, as well as Bell, so I'd be targeting one of those 3 tight ends at 104. Then at 132, I'm thinking linebacker. Colson, Wilson, Mondon, and Eichenberg, among others still on the board and would fit nicely there. Last two picks looking at best available defensive back for at least one of them and either another defensive back, a rb (Lloyd, Laube, Gore?), or perhaps a center (Limmer maybe?) with the other.
