  1. Seems to me that the only attraction leading him to accept the job at LAC was Herbert. I strongly doubt he trades him.
  2. WAS 2. Caleb Williams QB USC 36. Jordan Morgan OT Arizona 40. Ja'Tavion Sanders TE Texas 67. Zach Frazier OC West Virginia 98. Payton Wilson LB NC State 125. Dylan Laube RB New Hampshire Sorry about the big Ws. Don't know why it copies like that. Chicago took MHJ at pick 1, so pick 2 can be any of the top 3 QBs that our new brain-trust prefers. I went with Caleb. Accepted trade offer from Buffalo and traded #96 for #125, #153, and #157. Worked out well, IMO.

  4. Why not? They already forego the off sides, false start, holding, and pass interference rules for Dallas. One more foregone rule, more or less, won't make any difference, will it?

  6. Believe it or not, quarterbacks are football players. The idea that a philosophy of drafting BPA somehow means ignoring the QB position is ridiculous.
  7. Here is our fundamental difference of opinion: I think you are putting words into the mouths of those that disagree with you. I, for example, am not pushing either of these ideas that you claim I am pushing. The biggest frustration I have had with Redskin/Commander drafts is that they rarely seem to take the best football player available - not just in round 1, but throughout the draft seemingly every year. The only pick that immediately comes to mind as being an effort to the the best player available was Chase Young, and even then I wanted Tua. I understood the nervousness they may have had, given the injury Tua had sustained, so I was satisfied with the Young pick. For the most part, though, I have consistently been underwhelmed by the team's draft choices round after round, year after year. I certainly don't see football as being as simple as you lay out where it is a choice of either get the QB, then build the roster or build the roster, then get the QB. To me, it's get the best damn football players. Yes, there are certainly examples of teams that have failed to find a QB. There are also certainly examples of teams drafting a QB high, only to have him bust. Neither is a good outcome. Teams that tend to always take good football players seem to contend year after year. I hate to say it, but I get pissed seemingly every year at watching teams like Dallas and San Francisco get really good players in the draft while we continually seem to grab guys a round or two early. I look forward to Harris hiring a superstar GM who will, in turn, hire a superstar HC, a superstar staff, and superstar scouts. I'll rely on them to build the team. If the best player available at 1.2 is one of the QBs in their minds, then great! But I certainly don't want them to yet again so the same old drafting by position thing that this team has continually been doing. Look what we have -- we need literally everything, with the only possible exception being DT (and even there many want us to trade Allen]. With the many roster needs we have, drafting by position over BPA makes no sense to me. Lets draft a group of good football players for once. The bottom line is that being a proponent of drafting the best football player is neither a desire to get a QB first nor a desire to get the rest of the roster first. When I say that as of now the pick I would make is MHJ, it is certainly NOT because I have some type of weird fundamental opinion that QB should be the last position we fill. It is because he is the best football player in the draft to my admittedly untrained eye. He seems to have both the highest ceiling and the highest floor, IMO.
  8. I really don't want the Commanders to blow the draft pick position, but it would be kinda fun to beat Dallas 74-3. 🙂
  9. Look again. While they do rank offensive linemen altogether, they also have tabs at the top of that list which rank centers, guards, and tackles separately. They do the same with defensive linemen (DE and DT) and defensive backs (CB and S). They also have a separate EDGE list that includes guys from both their LB and DL lists. They just tend to place guys at the position they played most in 2023. Barton, for example played LT at Duke, so that's where they list him, even though most project him at G at the next level.
  10. I would guess that one of the main reasons for the difference between the points allowed rankings and the yards allowed rankings is that pick-sixes count as 7 points allowed, but zero yards allowed for the defense. Sure seems like we should be close to some kind of record on pick-sixes against us. I believe other turnovers that result in our opponent having a short field to score would also impact this points-allowed vs.yards-allowed difference.
  11. I'm pretty sure we would be at 36 (the 4th pick of round 2) if things end as they are now. Tied teams rotate draft position round to round. We would have the 2nd pick in rounds 1, 4, and 7; the 4th pick in rounds 2 and 5; and the 3rd pick in rounds 3 and 6.
  12. Your wording and your meaning was crystal clear. No amount of double-talk changes that. If you can't have a conversation without classifying the other party's ideas as being dumb, your opinion won't mean much to them. We disagree. Simple as that.

  14. I beg your pardon. You categorized my current opinion of what we should do at 1.2 as being dumb. That was very clear, and try as you might, you really can't walk that back, any more than you can walk back your initial comment to me, claiming that I said Nix would be a franchise QB, which was flat out false, as you know.. No matter who the QB is, or the WRs are, none of it will work until such time as we've made major changes in the OL. We need a lot. That isn't a reason to not draft the best player possible. It just isn't. Between the draft and FA, QB, OL, WR, TE, RB, EDGE, LB, and DB have to be addressed. To think all of the holes will be permanently filled in one off-season is a pipe-dream, IMO, but that is no reason not to get started, is it? I said from the beginning that I would support our new brain-trust is they do feel they've identified a QB that they feel has a real good chance to be that franchise guy and draft him. You now seem to be saying what I've been saying -- that our new brain-trust has to be strongly confident that a QB may be our franchise guy before using pick 1.2 on him. Truthfully, I really can't imagine talking heads, reporters, or anyone, really, making an argument that a pick of Harrison at 1.2 would be a bad pick.
  15. There was no reason to bring up Bruce Allen and say my viewpoint is an endorsement of him. No reason. Your arguments can certainly be presented without that. That was the strawman argument in this. We did draft RG3 under Allen/Snyder, so they did take a shot at a franchise QB. I'm having a hard time remembering when we took a WR comparable to Harrison at 1.2 during their time here. I don't buy that drafting MHJ endorses Allen at all. Make your case for whatever QB you think should be our pick at 1.2. The names Bruce Allen, Dan Snyder, and Ron Rivera have zero to do with the discussion. As to the other poster, I said I'd take MHJ at 1.2 as of right now because he's the best player in the draft, IMO. He said that was dumb. I misunderstood nothing. Have a good evening.
  16. Nothing I said or suggested is in any way shape or form an endorsement of Bruce Allen. You said it. No reason to equate me to Bruce Allen. Not fair. My current choice is MHJ because I believe him to be the best football player in the draft and I'm not strongly confident that there's a likely franchise QB there. Possible? Yeah. Likely? No. But it is very likely in my view that MHJ will be really, really good. If that makes me dumb, as the other poster said, or is somehow an endorsement of Bruce Allen in your opinion, so be it.
  17. Fine. You think it's dumb to take the best player in the draft. We disagree. Have a good evening.
  18. This is unfair on your part. My suggestion that we draft the best player in the draft in no way says I'm a fan of Bruce Allen. We disagree. That doesn't mean I think you like Dan Snyder. Just completely unnecessary. I'm not sure how my saying that I don't feel confident that any of the top three QBs being discussed will be a franchise guy is hard to understand. They're all good college QBs. I never said they're not. There are just enough little question marks on each to make me uneasy about calling their name at 1.2. I've stated my position clearly, and why MHJ is my current choice for 1.2, if he's there. If you disagree, that's great, that's what we are here for, to have these types of discussions. Feel free to try to convince me of your point of view, but there's no reason to insult me is there?
  19. I'm obviously not suggesting Nix in round 1. I'm not even saying it has to be Nix. That''s just a thought based on what I've seen of him, but he's not the guy in this draft I want most. One thing I am saying is that if I'm taking a QB with pick 1.2 -- I want to strongly feel that he will be The Guy. I just don't feel that strongly about any of the top 3 QBs being discussed. Odd that you ask me why I feel Nix is a franchise QB, when I've said nothing of the kind. Better that you tell us why whichever QB you want at 1.2 will definitely lead us to the promised land. I'm saying that MHJ is the best player in the draft, IMO, and as of right now he'd be my pick at 1.2 if the Bears don't take him first.
