  1. Guess we'll find out in just a little while. We rarely ever see new regimes keep QBs who were hand-picked and publicly defended by a previous HC. It's just not the way NFL teams operate. On paper keeping Howell sounds logical. In practice you'll have a divided locker room. And yes, I'm pretty sure the new FO is thinking of salting the Earth. The Snyder stench is so toxic it's an absolute necessity. If that means shipping and cutting a large number of players so be it.
  2. Do you YOU know what is means, brah? Because if we draft a new shiny QB and keep Sam we're looking at one when the new QB goes through the usual growing pains of the NFL. He's under contract, yes. But that doesn't mean it's the best environment for the team or for himself to develop.
  3. You're missing nothing. Except for the fact that maybe the new FO wants to go ahead and start from a clean slate.
  4. We just don't know what happens now that his mentor RR is out. Practically every QB selected in the NFL has a life-debt to his first head-coach, the one who hand-picked him to lead the franchise. It would be absolutely normal for Sam to be attached to RR. He can demand a trade and would have the upper hand. But maybe the new FO is actually run by big boys and lets him go to a team with a better profesional outlook, no strings attached (just the usual trade comp). I mean, now EVERYONE knows we're gonna take a QB. I can't see how this is a win for Howell.
  5. I really hope someone does. If we take a new QB that's gonna get ugly. I mean, yet another QB controversy in how many years?
  6. Can we actually trade Howell and get something for him? I know it's irregular but maybe this is one of those instances where it's best for both parties.
  7. I'm sure he does. But this process has been in every fan's mind since the new ownneship was formalized. If the FO is going this way then we, as fans, need to start viewing next season as a complete rebuild. A trully momentous period that will bring sustancial change here. That's gonna take time and could get really ugly.
  8. Why is this taking so long? The FO should have mode inroads on the new hirings months ago. What the heck could they posibly be waiting for? Unless that happens NOW we're looking at yet another lost season.
  9. This is true, man. More paradoxical is the fact that he racked up about 40 sacks at midseason when he was playing good to very good (we gave up 65 all season) But at the midpoint of the season something happened and even though the sacks were reduced considerably, his play suffered quite a bit. Some say other teams figured him out. Others say he needs more time to find those chunky deep routes, thus more sacks. Another group just blames EB for the disaster. I think it's a bit of everything and now Howell is Ramseyed.
  10. Well, the last game of the season saw us give up four sacks to a very good Dallas D. That makes it 65 in the season, four more than the previous historical worst '98 Oline. I know we need to take a QB in this year's draft. That's undeniable. But after that the O-line should be top priority.
  11. Just go Ron, just go You won the most important battle of your life when you defeated the big "C". Now it's time to let go of this franchise. Thanks for everything and have a nice second life.
  12. Absolutely, the way this season has unfolded makes it almost compulsory for the regime to draft a QB. It's the safest way to go. That way, if the new QB does not work, they can always ship him and blame the failure on him, not the FO.
  13. Yes, Sam has trade value. I agree that if we draft a new QB he has to be unquestioned starter with a very low-key QB behind him as a sub. Yet another QB controversy around here seems ill-advised.
  14. That would be great, man. But this is WSH. The reality is that if the new shiny QB starts to struggle a large group of fans will start asking demanding vocally for Howell. I think the new regime will try to start fresh in all aspects of the team and includes drafting a top QB as well as lesser known guy like Shanny did. That way these new guys are 100% loyal to the new coach and new FO. Howell would be wise to change teams. He's more than competent, very young, and tough. A lot of teams are looking for that kind of back-up QB. Not our team though, for the reasons explained above.
  15. Howell won't come back. He's to young to be dragged into a heavy politics situation with a new owner that will almost certainly draft a young stud QB. This season has shown that drafting a franchise lineman won't necessarily help the team as a whole. The problems are too deep. I was adamant about getting a top LT, but it makes little sense. For a new owner and GM the orthodox thing to do is start fresh from zero. And that includes a new QB. That means byebye Howell.
  16. Y'all seen the ProBowl selections? Sweat made the list, as well as Trent Williams. Zero players from our team. Man we suck.
  17. i can't remember exactly where I read it but an analyst demonstrated that if your teams suffers a pick-6 your chances of winning a game fall by 60% or there abouts. It's such a devastating play. Not coincidentally, thats when CHI turned their season around with some serious passing by Fields.
  18. Worst defense with most players selected in the first-round. Pretty sure you can add that. And the absolutely maddening stat of Sweat being the sack leader on two different teams after being traded. Now that's insane.
  19. You forgot a back-up of a back-up outplayed Wentz and RR prob didn't even know he had him on the roster LOL TH was key in RR's time here. A real monkey-wrench thrown into his planning.
  20. Points and yards gained by the opposing team per game are the best indicators of a teams defensive quality. We are at 480 points allowed, which is historically bad. But we have allowed opposing teams 396.4 yards on average per game, according to ESPN. That's still far from the worst teams in this category, as you see below.
  21. It's just weird bro, really strange. Not much to do now expect hope for a complete house-clean.
  22. More like mentally. If was passing like a madman while getting hit what the hell changed in the second half of the season when sacks decreased. Like drastically. I mean, if logic serves us well his numbers would have become even more impressive. But he regressed drastically.
  23. Well, after the SF game we have allowed a grand total of 61 sacks. Our all-time worst tied with the historically bad '98 O-line. If our QB gets sacked one more time against Dallas this will officially be our worst O-line ever. But since this season is longer than the pathetic '98 season I'll just call it a tie now. https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/redskins-most-sacks-allowed-in-a-season
