I expect us to generate more takeaways since it tends to be a volatile stat anyway and we made upgrades in that area. But I also expect us to turn it over more with a younger QB.

I expect a simple Field Position delta to help get those points. More Defensive Stops= more offensive plays, shorter field for Howell to work RPO magic and a "new" play caller...Hell Turner left that # on the field most games....Turnovers are just icing on the cake. If the offense doesn't turn the ball over I see a Ravens/Dilfer clone.

Whereas I can totaled believe there was a lackadaisical approach to coaching routes and lack of accountability if not taught correctly or executed properly.

EB is stressing this in practice at least and has Howell getting on the Oline for being sluggish breaking the huddle....so THIS gives me some hope!

As somebody who lifts, I can tell you that is very optimistic.   While its possible a male in his twenties or thirties with really good genetics can put on 12-15 of muscle in 3 to 4 months if they were not lifting before, the vast majority of people who don't fit that specifications (almost all women, men over 40, men with average to bad genetics) cannot do that.   Now if you include water weight it does become easier to put on 12 pounds of lean body mass in 3 to 4 months (water weight is consider lean body mass) and its possible that the author of the article is conflating muscle with lean body mass.    A lot of water can come from increased glycogen or creatine (if somebody starts supplementing with creatine) and that water weight is technically stored in the muscle, so it could be argued its mucle, but adding that to your muscle mass won't increase your strength and explosiveness in the same way increasing dense muscle mass will.

In regards to the Hollywood actors who transform their body, they are most likely either taking illegal steroids or alternatively using  testosterone replacement therapy (which is legal, but not allowed in the NFL) to get results quite a bit faster than you could get it without extra help.

That's the question, how much has he focused on weight/mass in the past. He didn't "need" it in college per se and I'm sure he's in great shape. I'm not saying he can't play at his current weight..just saying the trainers will look and see what works with him (my advanced resources comment-NFL not College). I respect a bunch of the posters on here for their knowledge. This tool making derogatory comments doesn't even rank so IDGAS

20lbs of muscle in 3 months. :ols:

    On a guy who's 165lbs.  :ols::ols:

Why didn't he think of that.

Plenty of internet fitness pages that say it's doable. I looked it up before posting. A professional athlete dedicated to body enhancement has ALLOT more time and resources to accomplish this. "You can gain up to 12-15lbs (6.8kg) of muscle in 3-4 months when closely following a researched program. (Afterward, muscle gains slow drastically.) These results are achievable for every healthy man and woman."

His 6'1" frame (if supported by bone mass) can do it....Just look at the Hollywood actors who transform for roles...

But go ahead and laugh.. IDGAF

I am always concerned with big on small situations in football and how to minimize them. But I don't think it's going to be some wild every play concern with Forbes.

Darrell Green comes to mind...184 lbs. Should be able to put on 20lbs of muscle in 3 months..

I’m just not excited. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me 8352 times, that means I’m a Commanders fan.

I’ve been hearing “this is the guy!!” for close to 30 years now. For you puppies out there, that’s pre Snyder, going back to the Norv days.

“This is it, we’ve got our guy!!” And routinely it’s gone sour practically every time. So while I recognize that Bienemy has upside and that he’s well respected and liked and all the other warm and fuzzy bull****, I’m expecting disappointment because that’s what I’ve been accustomed to for years now. I’m surprised to see some of you veterans on here getting your hopes up, too. You should know better by now.

If you don’t have any expectations, you’ll never be disappointed. Welcome to DC, EB. I’m sure you’re the guy this time.

Bad thing is that we DID have our guy(s) with Shanny and Kyle..IMHO only to let RG3 and Snyder F it up

It’s really insincere and makes you kind of a fraud if you’re going to act like you wouldn’t sign up for division titles, 12 win seasons, 4500 yards 30TDs etc. we all know you would.

Must be your defense mechanism to act like that level of QB play is somehow beneath your Washington team and their stellar QB play lol.

I could care less about stats. KC stabbed Jay in the back after Jay stuck his neck out and promoted him over RG3. I don't like the man.

The risk with Howell is the ability to read defenses and shift protections. Not because he can’t do it, but because we haven’t yet seen him do it.

But he’s a smart guy (high Wonderlic) with a good work ethic, so I’m not too worried. Especially if the coaches scheme up QB runs for him to use as a crutch while he gets up to speed.

With Turner not calling those slow developing plays behind a crap OL anymore..the new OC should be smart enough to scheme some quick release plays to the "strength" WR players (Even some of RG3's RO playbook). The Cowboy game was a prototype play call game for Howell. Start with that and expand.

I just don't get why Turner couldn't stick with stuff the players were telling him was working....

I’m going to temper some of the enthusiasm for Howell and point out that according to Logan Paulsen, Turner put on training wheels for Sam such that he didn’t have to read the defense against Dallas. Many of the plays were Sam looking at one route/option and making the decision.

And THAT is why Turner had to go. It it works and the players execute..you don't go all Einstein on them. Turner called plays to his ego not situational football. That move is worth 3 wins. Even TH would have gotten us there...Hey Turner..Thomas in the red zone dude...

Kind of hard to think of a good, qualified OC candidate who would come here knowing Rivera is heading into a lame duck season under a new owner who will likely fire everybody. For a franchise that doesn’t have QB figured out. Who is signing up for that who we would want, who wouldn’t be more coveted elsewhere? Who the heck is choosing us over a better opportunity, and if this odd situation in a dying regime is their best opportunity—why do we want them?

I’m not saying we should keep Turner btw, he’s a problem. I’m willing to try anything and I don’t really care if it flops hard because I’m fine if we unintentionally tank next season. Just saying, I’m not positive this OC situation is gonna get better.

Terry is an incredibly gracious dude.

When asked if there is a difference win the team is lead by CW when compared to TH4.

He said "not really, we just didn't find a rhythm today" and that he "cares for both".

THIS! From one of your best players...you didn't get a rhythm because Turner has NO CONCEPT on how to develop rhythm. He calls plays that KILL rhythm like running into a kill box of 8 defenders after an out pass gets a 1st down. No deception/NO play action...dude is beyond clueless.

I get what you are saying, but what exactly are Heinicke’s strengths?

Handing the ball off and guys in the locker room like him?

I’m not even being a smartass, I legit cannot come up with a strength for him.  Much of it he can’t help, height and arm talent obviously work against him.  But I can’t really think of any thing he’s necessarily really good at consistently.  He has moments, but no bread and butter.

To be fair, he reads the field well and goes through progressions. Good football mind IMHO
