  1. Maybe someone can explain why our DB's play so far off the LOS?? Looks like a 5-8 yard pasture for WR/TE to play in No press at all The DB's are on their heels the whole time moving backwards with a 3 yard cushion and only plant after the WR/TE cuts in front??? No contact at all. I hate the defensive zone scheme. I understand zone coverage and passing off responsibilities but to not try and interrupt the timing??? Are they that slow of a group? If so, we're doomed.

Just saw KDAWG's addressing this..beat me to it

Went to Carlisle 1981 Mark May's rookie year. I have a picture of my then girlfriend now wife at a bar sitting in May's lap at a huge round table with a bunch of other Skins players. They were all drinking margarita's out of beer pitchers. The table was filled with empty pitchers. They were pouring them for anyone who had a glass. Drinking mostly but they did give away a lot.

Good times. Reminds me - I gotta find that pic for some Christmas gag gifts.

Same story but with Russ Grimm..was the bar "The Gingerbread Man"? That's where we met the players.

  3. The D thought they were something special based on 2020. They bought into the hype and didn't prepare/study..especially the Dline. They couldn't get to or hurry the "good" qb's who feasted on the secondary. Arrogance cost em early and they dug a hole they couldn't get out of and started pressing. Once the "talent" was off the field, the other players played to fundamentals and improved. Collins was a prime example of this..he thought he could cover when he just plain couldn't match the speed. That and the D was not mature enough to adapt to $%*t thrown at em by opponents. They schemed Young out of his pants...frustrated him..and he fell on his face.

You can coach a player schemes all day long but if they don't listen..it's not on JDR.

Its possible that Riverboat Ron thinks he can "fix" what's wrong with Carson Wentz.  I think its a real long shot.  Sports writers in Philly have called Wentz a complete

narcissist and not a team leader.  I can see the situation where half the players support Heinke and the other half starting the season might support the new guy

coming in.  For a guy who keeps claiming he is a culture guy I wonder how much the General Manager and his assistants discussed with Ron that this guy has not been a

team player.  Also he has thrown 3 passes in post season games and this is his sixth year in the NFL.

So maybe some humble pie will fix that attitude some. If your career is one the line, you make changes

    Something I've always wondered about.

Everybody knows it's a quarterback league and if you don't have one you have nothing.

The typical approach to getting a quarterback is drafting one high and giving Him multiple years to develop before ultimately giving up after typically 2 to 5 years depending on level of potential shown then rinse repeat until your lucky enough to find an elite one.

Most teams keep 3 quarterbacks on their roster and the 2nd and 3rd ones are usually guys with little to no potential to be elite.

Why hasn't a team ever tried to bring in 3 guys all with high upside to compete.

Hypothetical, the Eagles this year, let's say they like hurts and feel he still has potential to be their number one guy but have doubts, they also like coral and Willis in the draft and both are available when it's their turn in the first.

    Why not draft both?

It would create a ton of fan buzz, it would give them the best odds of coming away with a franchise quarterback.

The drawbacks as I see them are the potential for the quarterbacks to hold out because they dont want to compete to be number one or don't want to ride the pine if they lose the competition and of course the fact that there's only so many reps to go around to evaluate potential but it still surprises me with the incredible value placed on the position and the desperation teams show overdrafting quarterbacks every year that no team has tried it.

Why is there so much value placed on competition at every single position except the most important one?

    Crazy idea?

Probably but if it worked it might start a new trend.

They did that with Tom Brady and he left. The great "Starter" doen't like competition..look at Rogers too

    Unfortunately,

Unfortunately, because of this I think they will force a Jimmy g or something  of this type

I hope they don't force anything. Fix the D with a few players and keep the coaching consistency. Get a bad ass BIG BACK and prioritize the running game (which we are pretty good at) and *try* and get a Vet QB without breaking the bank (hell..I'd try Fitz again before I paid a ransom in 1st round picks). I'd we willing to watch and root next year IF we don't keep jumping the shark and stick with a plan. Develop a QB with the tools from the draft and *hope* we can coach em up. Next year..if we aren't better..start trading players and get draft capital and keep the team young until we find the QB we want.

I'm in no hurry if I understand we're following a good plan. If the QB isn't there this draft..pass.

For those who don't believe Heinicke is the long term answer, or even short term answer, I get it.

Just wondering if there is something TH/Skins can do in the off season to get some strength in his arm? I think TH would be willing to work but what conditioning drills are there to improve in that area....OR...is he pretty much locked in physically where he is.

  8. Fitz going down for the season screwed the pooch. TH would have been GREAT in relief/backup. Ron just never caught a break on offense. Del Rio is another story...who made the decisions to change personnel on D..who chose the replacement players..who was LATE in moving Collins when EVERYONE saw the need. Then you have just plain crap alignments/schemes. I can't see him keeping his job..really.

I didn't watch the game...probably through as a regular Sunday watcher.. I'll DVR and watch if it suits me. I actually found something else to do that I "enjoyed". I may re-energize sometime in the future ( I did THIS YEAR..Fooled me, HA!) ..don't know..don't care.

My Redskins are dead and buried. I'm too dang old to start being a fan of another team. 55 years of being a skins fan  with 25 being TOTAL CRAP *seems* enough.

    What a dang shame.

We still have dudes thinking 'Thank god we didn't pay Kirk Cousins' as if we haven't been a quarterback wasteland since he left.  No, I don't think Kirk cures the ills of this franchise.  My point is that our fanbase is so worried about getting ripped off on paying a quarterback, that we suffer through QB purgatory, where we infight over a dude who was sleeping on his sisters couch last year because he's got a cheap contract.  The ever elusive solid QB we draft with the cheap contract is the apple of many eyes, yet even if we ever land one of those, by the time he's ready for primetime he'll be in line for one of these gigantic contracts that nobody wants to pay.

84 mil over three years for KC's win lose % ....nope. Numbers don't get you into the post season. I'm glad..it got rid of Gruden...

Edit:  I’m fine with continuing this in the tailgate if that’s more appropriate.  But I’m looking at this as from a player availability standpoint.

From the CDC. Don't believe the hype that you can't get it or pass it on if you get a vaccine. That's all my input. People can research themselves as I have

COVID-19 vaccines are effective at helping protect against severe disease and death from the virus that causes COVID-19, including known variants currently circulating (e.g., Delta variant).

Let's replace the pronouns in VoR's 1st point with the nouns he is referring to:

    1. Getting the vaccine reduces the probability you will contract COVID.  It The vaccine does NOT eliminate it COVID, but it DOES reduce it the probability of contracting COVID.

You are restating exactly what VoR said.

No..the vaccine reduces the IMPACT of COVID. It does nothing to prevent you from exposure/catching the virus. You can be vaccinated and be a carrier same as un-vaccinated. It is not a cure..just like the flu shot. Johnson and Johnson vaccine works WITH your existing immune system by using dead covid cells to generate antibodies, the others change your body's genome (to inhibit the virus artificially- New Technology-unproven).

It seems like its obvious as heck that we have to win a Marty Ball type of game.  Dallas clearly knows this, too.  So I think the first quarter will be pivotal to set the tone of the game.  If they play to stop the run and we run it well anyway, then I think this games is ours.  If they stop the run and it becomes a shoot out, I think they got this one considering they got the bigger weapons both on offense and passing defense, too.

Play action will kill the boys then and TH is very good at it. The TE's are going to have to fight and get balls in tight windows. I think Terry and Samuels will eat up the middle on Play action too. If Turner tries a longer more complicated / longer game plan we will lose. Can't have 3 and outs

  13. Make those Dlineman run horizontally chasing our backs. Quick outs,screens...no long developing plays. Hell, it would be a good time for hurry up offense..gas those lineman. I think TH is a very quick D reader and thinker and his best game would be him following his reads and not scripted calls from above. They'll have to spy TH too. I hope they don't run on 1st down every time...

Can't play these guys straight up..TH and Hurry up would be fun to watch

I don't think WFT is winning a 19-17 or 17-15 type game this week.  All those "nice drives" won't matter unless they end in touchdowns this week.  I think the defense will still look pretty good in spots & stretches of the game, but Dallas has a roster full of weapons that will test every hole remaining on the defense.

Hopefully Collins is back. This is a game we lose nothing by blitzing and not give Dak time to use Dallas's speed. We need to be in his face AND contain the outside for Elliot. Tough but doable. TH needs to give us long time consuming drives and have D's lineman running side to side all game. Wear em out like the Raiders.

Gas em and go ball control.

Trench battle is our best bet.

  15. It would seem logical that a cerebral QB who reads defenses and can go through MANY progressions to find the best opportunity FAST is better than a 1 or 2 read rocket arm speedster (read RG3). I think a 40 yard window can win games if the reads are fast and throw accurate. I just like the way he evaluates his opportunities to the LAST possible second using his escape ability.

He will most probably get hurt eventually though. This game will be a BIG one going into the Cowboys game next week. If we win convincingly, It's DALLAS WEEK AGAIN BABY!!
