  1. I haven't closed the book on Harmon. Last year's offensive coordination was not conducive to success in any way, shape or form. Harmon caught most of the balls thrown his way. The offense overall struggled because of the same **** everybody else on the team suffered from....coaching and organizational chaos. I see Harmon being used properly this year, so we'll see what happens.
  2. He's a late round draft pick. Temper your expectations. The Redskins have Cody Latimer, the 3rd round pick and the existing WRs on last year's roster with a year under their belt. The young man has time to work on his craft. I like what I've seen so far. Tracks the ball in the air; will probably need to work on his press release. He's got training camp to prove himself. But realistically, with no rookie mini camp, no OTAs and what not, he's got a tough row to hoe. Plus the Redskins believe the other Antonio is better.
  3. It's 0.4 seconds behind the fastest player ever to run the 40 in NFL history. Watch his film. As a matter of fact, watch Larry Fitzgerald's film.
  4. So the Gibson pick is definitely intriguing. I like his play making ability. And like Ron said, his ability makes the offense better. Ron mentioned that Scott Turner liked Gibson and (for the most part) stood on the table for him. So today it got me to thinking why does Scott like Gibson. Come to find out that Scott runs a lot of motion and shifts. This is a great way to set up mismatches. So I'm seeing Gibson, Bryce, Guice and the other two newly acquire RB shifting out of the backfield, matching up against linebackers, which is great. This also creates different looks to confuse the defensive responsibilities, thus manufacturing busted coverage. Here's a vid from a Panther fan that does a good job with film speaking to all of this.
  5. It would have been nice to go to training camp and see Chase and Trent go at it.
  6. Yea. Bengals have already told Burrow, they're picking him at #1.
  7. Is this Allen Iverson on the line? Lol at the 28:25 mark. https://theteam980.com/189588/team-980-hosts-second-pick-chase-young/
  8. Chase is already on it. https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/redskins/redskins-draft-prospect-chase-young-donates-lunch-maryland-healthcare-professionals Good dude. Knew him from a little league team. My son was a teammate. Solid parents. Definitely a good fit.
  9. So quiet is kept, the Redskins defense was pretty much 7th in the NFL in sacks. There is a few teams ahead of them tied with 46. But the Redskins had 47. But guess who #2 was. The ****ing Panthers. The addition of Chase along with two stellar defensive minded coaches may break the PlayStation. AtIeast I'm hoping. I take it, the Redskins will be looking for CBs to press and slow down receiver routes in the pass game while taking away the quick game. We'll see. But I'm really looking at how effective they will be in the run game. Supposedly moving to the 4-3 will help that. Ron's defense sucked last year with the run (29th). They were only a bit better than the Redskins, averaging a whopping 143 yd/gm. Remember we gashed them last year. So while I like picking up Chase, I hope the rest of the defense is filled with CB with ball skills and awareness as well as LB with play recognition and the ability to communicate loud and clear where the **** everybody needs to be from a gap responsibility standpoint. Obviously I want all of them to be able to tackle (which says I'm not feeling Darby in this scheme). But again, we'll see... https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/team-stats?season=2019&week=100&category=DEFENSE
  10. Bengals quote: "I can tell you one thing, what Andy Dalton's done for the Cincinnati Bengals is not something that we're going to forget and we're not going to just willy-nilly, make something happen with him that, a) he's uncomfortable with and, b) that we're uncomfortable with," Tobin said at the time. Its clear they are going somewhere to get a QB and why on god's green earth would you pick up a veteran in his place? So to me, the Bengals have made it clear what position they're looking to fill. It may be Tua, it may be Burrow. Welcome Young QB Chaser.
  11. Just heard Zac Taylor call Chase Young an instant impact player. That's obvious, but by comparison, he was fairly nonchalant in his mentioning of Tua and also said he hasn't met Burrow yet. I know it's early, but I'm getting a bit nervous about the Chase Young sweepstakes For what its worth: https://stripehype.com/2020/02/24/understanding-the-bengals-defense-and-why-it-is-the-priority-this-offseason/
  12. In light of the Kobe tragedy, I saw the SB celebration in a different light. Not that it was never like this. But this celebration brought tears to my eyes. Of course there's the feeling one gets when they've worked on a dream their entire life (I implore all of us to do) and seen the dream come true. But the feeling one gets when they can share it with their child or the father/mother that took them to all those little league practices and games. Its why I have and will always love football. Hopefully the Redskins will experience this amazing moment soon. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-micd-up/0ap3000001101358/Mic-d-Up-Chiefs-defense-seals-K-C-s-first-title-in-50-years-Super-Bowl-LIV
  13. The look on Scott Turner's face when the recording of we can do whatever we want to do was hilarious. I bet he was saying to himself WTF now? First its the ****ing music during my phone presser, no this ****. This place is a ****ing clown show!
  14. Its very easy to think of Antonio Brown's situation and say all the things we hear in the current media climate about who he is. The media is always in the now when it comes to judging a person's wrongdoing. Today Roger Goodell talked about being worried about AB's health. In that moment I recalled the hit he received against the Bengals. I also thought about how many times a player takes a hit to the head and it goes unnoticed (and the player chalks it up as being a part of the game). I know even for myself playing up through college ball that I've had my share of stingers and zingers. I'm not sure when or how many hits to the head causes CT brain trauma. But if you look at a fighter, sometimes a simple jab can knock a guy out. The media and a lot of us would call that guy Glass Joe or some ****. My bottom line point is if AB gets the help he needs (and I hope he does) and is able to come back in the league, coming the Skins might be amazing. He a great football player that seems to be suffering from something mental. And it might be football related. Which is why Goodell is even speaking on it IMO. But what a transformation.
  15. Redskins that got away are now either going to the SB or playing for it now (including at least 2 coaches).
  16. As much as the media here talks down on the Redskins, the press here are some of the most unprofessional, lazy group of folks I ever seen. They really do help spin the bull**** surrounding the Redskins but can't even hold a reasonably professional phone presser. Everybody knows that if you are on a conference call, you put your ****ing phone on mute if you're not speaking. Yet you hear typing, chirps, alerts and that ****ing song. What does the media do with that **** up? They report it as if its the Redskins deal. ****ing dumb asses.
  17. What if the Bengals take Burrow 1st overall and the Skins took another player (beside Chase), like Jeff Okudah? Wouldn't that be the sum of all fears? Like wouldn't that be beyond that Bruce **** and cause an epic deflation to the future outlook of this team. Hell, Jeff would have to get 15 interceptions in his rookie season for fans to change their venom towards him and this new regime. But I digress, these mutha ****as better take Chase!!
  18. My son is more of a basketball player. But was Chase's football teammate in little league (with Southern Maryland Eagles). He came home today and told me that he kept hearing the name Chase Young and it never clicked until today that they were talking about his old classmate at Clinton Christian. So I'm pulling out the old yearbook because he does look familiar. He also said they chop it up occasional online but it was always about music and other ****. Damn! Btw, it is said that Chase Young is a eagles fan. I am speculating, but his playing most of his youth football for the Eagles might have something to do with it. Talk to my wife today about it and she says she knows his mom from some of the parent stuff we all had to grind through when or kids we're in school.
  19. Could be that the firing wasn't personal, Norv understands the business and damn near 20 years is a long time to hold a grudge.
  20. I'd agree if this multi billion $ industry wasn't so cut throat. Out of one's comfort zone is probably the worst place to be in the NFL.
  21. OMG he said we have a system. That kind of sounded like we have a plan. Eeek! But he mentioned he liked Haskins coming out of college and was actually a coach on that team we beat the **** out of every year (I'm from Ohio). I like that he's worked with a number of QBs and has brought in one the best QB coaches out there. Kind of cool that he's from here, not that that creates more wins. Weird thought.... what if Rivera flops and Scott becomes the interim and starts winning.
  22. I kind of rushed through that take to be honest. The thing about the Scott Turner was more of twitter type catch phrase than the start of a dissertation. But I guess my point is that Scott was chosen to be the OC based on what the new head coach saw from a production standpoint...not potential or some media narrative. I could be totally wrong. But IMO, KOC did nothing to show me that he deserved authority to fill out his own offensive staff, which was apparently the reason he's not the OC for the Redskins. Plus if he were that guy, you would think he would have already been given the reigns over the offense when Gruden was here. If I recall, Gruden handed over the play calling to McVay in his second year as head coach. Again, I just think KOC has been grouped with McVay and Shanny by the media and we the fans ran with it. As a matter of fact, KOC might be on the outside looking in if McDaniel doesn't take the Brown's gig. Of course I hope the best for the man. I'm sure he'll land somewhere based on reports.
  23. So here's the thing with the Scott Turner hire (as far as I see it): Retaining KOC would have been based on a narrative and not production. I think everyone looked at McVay and created this fear factor about letting young coaches go. I believe KOC was simply in the right place at the right time. The narrative for the young guys coming out of the Redskins' organization (to include Kyle Smith) is that they are the best and brightest the NFL has to offer. The list is nice. I suppose it all started with lil Shanny. Then it was McVay and now Matt LaFeur (who btw is good friends with Shanny who brought Matt to the Redskins to coach RGIII and Kirk). So the obvious person to follow down that path would be KOC (??). He's been groomed to coach somewhere based on his other young predecessors, right? They're all doing a great job in their new found positions as head coaches. But IMO, I don't think Kevin is going to make it down that path. At least not in the new future. Fact is, he hasn't won and his offense hasn't shown to be productive. Also, I have yet to hear a player (other than Dwayne) speak about O'Connell in a way that leads me to believe he can be a leader of men. But more importantly, its a copy cat league. And I'm sensing a shift in the narrative among teams (besides the Panthers who have a new owner that is probably going to learn the heard way like Danny) that head coaching experience is important. Many including myself thought Danny was going to be hiring the bright shiny toy (Urban) to bring synergy to the Redskins' brand. He went with experience. The cowgirls went with experience. We'll see what the Browns do, but the Freddie Kitchen experience will probably make them gun shy about bringing in new meat. From my view, only the teams with new ownership and/or a new progressive GM with authority bring in new inexperienced coaches. So if there's a team out there with those parameters, maybe there's a place for O'Connell to gain the title. But right now, the NFL seems to shifting away from the young talent.
  24. There has to be a bit of nepotism in this cut throat industry. If the head coach is not familiar with his staff, he sets himself up for sabotage. Of course he can fire the coach but who wants to take their team through the drama? Not to mention the possibility that the clandestine coach is not feeding his players bull****. I good with a all in approach and you don't get that by hiring strangers.
