Yeah, agree. I think even Jay Gruden (who McCloughan used to praise as an evaluator) admitted he typically only watches the highlights of a given prospect. And justified it by saying he only cares about what a prospect can do. Not surprisingly, he prefers Daniels as well. I usually take coaches’ opinions on prospects with a grain of salt - unless they’re foolishly granted the ultimate decision-making authority during the draft… as we did with Rivera. -
Relevant: Not sure if the competition argument for Penix elevates him as much as people may think.

Coaches are wild, man. Not surprising very few of them are successful at talent evaluation (Belichick being the most obvious example). Which is why I don’t care much when I hear about who coaches have ranked higher in the Maye vs Daniels discussion.

I think it'll be interesting to see how far Daniels falls if we don't take him. I could easily see NE and NYG passing on him too. And I don't think MIN would trade up for him. I'm sure that's the scenario the Raiders are hoping for, and plan to trade up with TEN or ATL.

QB at pick #2 is cool and all... but on a separate note, I hope Peters proves to be as unflappable as this guy on draft day. Especially with those 2nd round picks.
