  1. Re the name, I believe Wright is on record saying they will consider keeping the WFT name as a choice in this process. As for WFC, that seems logical to consider, too, if they go that direction. One factor in this is that the NFL has marketing input on everything, so it's not as simple as Snyder pondering the choice over a glass of Crown Royal. That said, would it shock me if Snyder undercuts his own staff? Are you kidding?!?!? 😄
  2. The WFT is starting to get into gonzo Al Davis territory, here. The lawyers have lawyers, and the minority owners are just as seedy as the majority owner.
  3. I don't know how much ongoing disclosure of team or owner financials the league gets. Remember, this wasn't a lawsuit but a private agreement. If the team (not Snyder) paid, then it'd show up on the books. However, the accounting entry probably wouldn't specify the grounds for a confidential settlement. My sense is that the owners actively try to stay out of each other's business unless new stadiums or relocation are at issue.
  4. The way he shut up that Diggs guy is just an all-time classic.
  5. I can think of a recent first-round pick who might be available right now! 😄
  6. Sign a vet, trade down for more picks, and start getting more young impact players before even thinking about drafting a QB.
  7. Not necessarily at the top of the first round, though. Of 21st Century champions, I can think of only the Manning brothers as being blue chippers who won SBs. The others I can recall were lower first-round guys or non-first-rounders (Brady, Wilson, Mahomes, Brees etc.) The point being that it might be better for the WFT to build a credible team before going all in on a rookie QB, rather than drafting one in the top two or three this spring and then hoping he doesn't get killed while they try to find some starting caliber linemen to put in front of him.
  8. Under the current system, a rebuilding team is on a five-year clock once they draft their "franchise" QB. They have the five years of his rookie deal to build a championship team around him before his second deal puts them in cap hell. So, the real analysis is twofold: whether the WFT can build a champion around any QB from their current bare cupboard within five years, and whether there'll be a QB capable of starting from Day 1 and developing quickly so that he's at peak when the roster is ready for a championship run. If the answer to the first question is no, then they need to bring in a vet and not bother drafting a QB for another couple years. Work on the rest of the roster. Teams with an established starter can afford the luxury of drafting a Haskins and hope that 2-3 years on the bench are enough for him to learn the position. The Redskins were not in a position to do that. The Steelers and Packers were. It's probably too late to sign a vet and have Haskins sit for two more years. Starting him early ruined that. He needs to move on.
  9. Patience is probably in order all around. This is effectively a 16-game preseason for this team. The overall talent level is atrocious. No amount of coaching will overcome that. That said, the coordinators need to start identifying and honing in the on the few things that are actually working. Everything still looks jumbled to my non-expert eyes.
  10. This year's bodybag game would have to come in Cleveland, of all places. Welcome to 2020.
  11. The Browns have been trying really hard to lose this game, and the WFT just won't let them.
  12. I probably just haven't been paying enough attention. 😄
  13. A week ago, if you'd said the names "Dontrelle Inman" and "Isaiah Wright," I'm not sure I would have known who the heck you were talking about.
  14. Okay, Haskins is clearly scrambled right now. That was just terrible.
  15. Trevor Lawrence in burgundy and gold is starting to look like a distinct possibility.
  16. The ball had already bounced off Apke's facemask by the time OBJ got his arm in there. No way Apke gets it.
  17. Not paying the dividend could be passive aggressive behavior, but those kinds of moves also sometimes indicate financial distress. I don't know anything about anything, but from the outside I'm guessing there's a whole lot more that has yet to be reported. Dan has a knack for courting trouble, and he sure succeeded this time.
  18. For a suspension to have any effect beyond PR value, it'd have to be long like the one given to George Steinbrenner. Prohibiting any contact or decisionmaking with the team for two years might allow the positive changes we're seeing actually take root. Of course, Danny could come back and fire everyone, so maybe it doesn't matter.
