  1. Look, people really need to stop making these financial assumptions about a QB market that has shown anything but 'reasonable' in the early going. Free Agency: Jimmy G and Mitch will give us a better idea of the market. Wentz is clearly a step up from both of them, but it helps. Extension: Rogers just got 50M/year and Wilson is going to get a TON from Denver. Carr, Murray, Jackson, Mayfield are all up for extensions, and would not be surprised of LA did something with Stafford too. We really dont know the market yet, but there will be 10+ QBs this year making more than Wentz and 15+ QBs next year. We should not be in any rush to consider this a 1 year Prove It deal. If he 'Proves it' then we should hold on to him assuming we dont draft a QB.
  2. Oh dear god, if you have no concept of Hog/Bird/Deer hunting then I cant help you. Feral (Wild) Hogs throughout the South are F'n awful. - Full of diseases (Cholera), ticks, lice, etc - Extremely destructive to crops, roads, and entire ecosystem - One of the fastest breeding animals on earth Athletes that grow up in this lifestyle are MUCH better prospects (Talent aside). Planning a hunt, preparation and getting up before sunrise, committing to a full day (Or multiple day) hunt, etc. So many life lessons about hard work, disappointment, connection to your natural environment. There is a reason that guys like Jimmy Butler simply outwork people over their entire career before becoming a 1st ballot HOF.
  3. Im not sure if you are saying this in jest. I LOVE when athletes grow up on farms/hunting/etc. There is a no BS grittiness, unselfishness, and accountability that accompanies this lifestyle that profiles well. I love Burks even more now.
  4. Could not agree more. Everyone keeps talking about hand size as if there is a cut off that would allow someone to be a pro bowler vs flunking out. In reality, as you point out, is that the smaller hands will realize more fumbling issues and poor weather issues. If you profile as an elite QB, then smaller hands can hurt you, but not enough to offset your talent. (Think Mahomes with <=9" hands) If you are Kenny Pickett and profile as a Kirk Cousins/Carr caliber QB... and THEN add in the small hands, its a recipe for disaster as he simply doesnt have enough talent Margin to offset the hand size.
  5. Agreed. If we pass on him at 11 I think it may be the biggest miss in the last decade. He profiles as a Carr type QB and you can win a SB with #8-12 QB.
  6. Agreed. Corral is my QB1. Great Feet and arm. Natural football athlete. Hyper competitive (Plays as underdog in SEC, Demanded to play in Sugar Bowl and not opt out). I like Howell and Pickett, but you almost have to swing for Corral if he makes to ~7.
  7. Ehhh. An OL is a Wall and the DL/LB are water. No matter how strong parts of your wall are, the water will always flow to the weakest points and attack accordingly. Having 1 A Caliber lineman, 1 B, 2 C, and 1 D most always results in the C/D getting attacked. I much rather have a bunch of B/B- caliber lineman that play together give your team enough time and space to execute.
  8. Am I the only one seeing the parallels? - Underrecruited freak athlete with limited tape. - Willing to play any position/role to help the team. Special teams ace. - Quiet, serious demeanor that you can tell loves to grind Terry McLauren?
  9. Ehhh. Fuller was an All-Pro in 2018, but regressed into 2019 and further last year. Trufant, Rhodes, Hayward, Dennard, Butler, etc. A number of guys in that 29-31 range that will get 1 year deals similar to Verrett and Peterson.
  10. Isnt the 2.2M guaranteed though? If so, then I dont think its an Apples to Apples comp. I mean, everyone is seeing 8.75m and thinking "Ok, so he's getting ~4.4M per year, right?" No, 8.75M is probably the max value full of incentives and back loaded. He probably gets a 1M signing bonus and 1.5M in Base this year along with some roster bonuses each year. This is a good deal
  11. Yeah... Darnold seems to be a huge bust. But to play devils advocate... Another athletic QB that actually transitioned to QB in college. Plus athlete with with good, not great arm and former top 10 pick.... Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill was older his rookie year than Darnold is right now. That has to mean something. Im not saying Darnold will last another 2 years in the league, let alone lead a team to the AFC championship game... but maybe Sam needs his Mike Vrabel.
  12. Im not sure why people are having trouble with this. He has been clear about it. 1) Rivera thought, like many others, that we'd have 1-2 teams in our division (Most everyone thought DAL & PHI) would be 3-1 / 4-0 at this point in the season. The opposite has occurred, which is a surprise around the league. 2) Every offensive snap starts with the ball in the QB's hand, and every pass is based on a QB's decision. So if the QB is not making the right decision, adjustment, etc. the play immediately falls apart. How can a new coach with new FO personnel fairly evaluate & teach players if the QB is botching the play? Allen may not impress many here (I'm not), but he at least allows the coaches to evaluate other players fairly. 3) Lets be clear, if you list the top 5 players on this team in terms of Football IQ, talent, work ethic, leadership, etc.... They would all be defense outside of Alex Smith, who is on the bench. Smith, Kerrigan, Thomas Davis, Collins, Jonathan Allen. You cant have the most talented unit with the most leadership developing a gulf between them and the offense. Rivera needs to keep the team invested and prepared.
  13. Poor hands and instincts. Game speed is only mediocre as he doesnt have an explosive 1st step or quick feet, while not having the route running to compensate. AGG is a much better prospect.
  14. Somewhat agree, but both those incidences directly related to breaking rules of the actual game. Also, dont be surprised if more stories like this pop up from other teams here soon.
  15. Harmon's efficient feet and catch radius are fine as a RZ threat. You're asking a raw, 5th round rookie with a shortened offseason to beat out a guy with more refined skills. Im simply saying that he wont beat out Harmon "Early in the year" as the consistent Z receiver opposite of Terry, but we'll see
  16. Great question. AGG - Bigger athlete. More explosive vertically with quicker feet and better instincts with the ball in his hands/YAC. Better at the LOS. Harmon - More consistent catcher/hands and a bit more efficient in his movement and much better route runner. Basically, Harmon is the more refined Receiver, while AGG is the better athlete/body control. Both have trouble with separation, both block their ass off and compete. I have a hard time seeing AGG beating out Harmon early in the year.
  17. Agreed also. This draft is making it VERY clear about the type of offense we will run. - quick OL - Strong WRs that block (Terry, Harmon, Golden) - “Weapons” that can play make (Sims, Love, Guice, Gibson) I think it’s becoming clear. sweeps, Screens, etc. with blockers on the outside. Makes Haskins job much easier. Seriously, Guice & Gibson with Harmon, Golden, and Terry is an interesting group that allows the OC to run a ton of different options with that look without giving it away. Gone are the Reed and AP days of knowing what we’re going to run.
  18. Big fan of that attitude. Add in his feet and nastiness. Im in Yeah, some strength/anchor issue, but he is only 20 and that should come in time.
