  1. Not the biggest Fitz fan, but do like his unique leadership abilities. I mean, I think he’s a legend as far as a dude goes lol
  2. Ya, I don’t believe Newton is great, but would expect the team to be dynamic in the run game, red zone, and RPO (slants to Mcclaurin). Just want some known variables at the QB position due to believing the teams SB window starts next year. Newton, Allen, and a rookie sounds good to me for next season. Id entertain the idea of Matt Ryan if the Falcons decided to release him and let him choose his team (like Peyton Manning). No interest in trading draft picks.
  3. Kyle Allen hasn’t shown himself to be a professional QB in way managing games consistently and not imploding. I think Ron brings in a “grown up” in the QB room next season as it appears to be trending Smith may not return/lack of trust to remain healthy for a season.
  4. I wonder if they do decide to move on. From afar Now admittedly, I’m only watching 15 minute highlight cut ups, but there are plenty of passes being made over 10 yards. This Cam can’t throw the ball down past 10 yards is a false narrative and being shared as truth. Like you mentioned in a previous post I’m not tied to any one way of doing it, but I do want a strong personality and grown up at the QB spot next year, due to feeling there’s a SB window starting next year. This wouldn’t move me off of wanting to invest in a high draft pick, but have ZERO interest in starting a rookie QB next year. Cam isn’t coming off a great year and doesn’t have as much potential value for another organization as he does he for obvious reasons. For example, I wouldn’t support a Cam acquisition if I was a fan of any other team. My position is more that if Ron decides to add him to the group I’d support it. Also, watching the Turner offense for 16 games I easily can see how Cam could be a great fit. A lot of backfield action, RPOs, ROs, and short pass game. If we’re venturing into average to above QB play I want that guy to have something elite about him some way and Newton checks the box in regards to what the team instantly becomes as a rush offense. A know elite variable for a season.
  5. Last year was a unique situation for Cam in what he got paid, don’t think that’s a good comparison to make, but have always been befuddled how the NFL just gives a starting QB 8-10% of the cap. I would be okay with Cam around 5%, which in my mind is 7-10mil with incentives needed to get to the 10-15 mark or so.
  6. I agree wholeheartedly, probably because I want this to be the case as well. Also, he played his first year in an all around horrible situation and this year learning a new defense while all were getting acclimated. Believe/hope he will have a big year upcoming.
  7. More talent the better, let the dudes battle it out and have depth/versatility at the safety spot next year. Collins money isn’t going any place until after next year, just in time for a Payne extension. I still thought Collins was dynamic at times in making plays in the run game. Him playing some money backer would be an option.
  8. As a replacement to the Smith role. I’d still be open to having Allen compete with Newton and a 1st round draft pick. I want the team to invest heavily and create competitive CHEAP QB room while still positioning self to compete for a SB next year. Full disclosure, I don’t love Newton, but could get behind it and see some value of Ron were to choose to do so.
  9. There is a stark difference between paying and trading for older QBs than getting them on the cheap. Independent events of the past shouldn’t be a deciding factor for the future. Sure, learn from them, but avoid reachIng conclusions, IMO.
  10. Fitzpatrick would be okay, feel he has a clear ceiling and is horrible with TOs, even still as an older QB. Newton provides a critical known variable and that would be a dynamic run game and red zone offense. Wouldn’t hate Taylor as an option, well liked dude with some experience, but like Newton much more.
  11. Nah, both wired similarly, IMO from afar. Kinship right away would be my guess. Im out on this one for the day, I’m not even staunchly in favor of it, but would get behind it if that was a move Ron decides to make. Covid and Cam coming off injury messed with his value a bit, but I do think he comes cheap next season.
  12. Ya, I’m not in love with the idea but I like the value for this particular franchise if that’s the direction Ron chose to go. Also, there’s zero risk to a move like this, Cam would come even if it’s an open competition with Kyle Allen and first round QB. I just want talent in the room and a guy next year who can provide some known variables to the team next season, due to feeling they will be ready to compete for a SB.
  13. It looked real ugly for Brady last year at times and dreadful in their playoff game. New England is atrocious at all skill positions. Like the worst in the NFL bad. Newton still managed to assist with getting team to 7 wins. Very much operating with surface level knowledge as I do with any team outside of Washington, but I still see him as dynamic in the run game and having an ability to stretch the field with throws down the field. I 100% concede he’s bottom tier in terms of accuracy, but he’s good enough in the short game to establish rhythm and flow at times, albeit not great. This I believe is the extreme negative mental representation of Cam, he makes passes down the field. No weapons in New England. Like none. Zero. Zilch.
  14. Well then lol I still see him as every bit dynamic in the run game as he was when a few years ago. His arm strength would take much more time to break down and see what he’s lost (which I won’t do). In my mind with a Newton signing, I’m asking him to be average to above and enhance the run game to a top 5 level to compliment the defense.
  15. Look at Turner calling the shots lol At the end of the day, if they want no part I move off my position entirely.
  16. I hear you, obviously it comes down to Ron and if he doesn’t show interest that would be very telling I’d think.
  17. People evolve and it seems from afar he has. To sum him up as a whiner and distraction is wrong in every way. False narrative is he can no longer run, just look at some cut ups of this season and he still is an elite runner from the QB spot. I don’t love him as a QB, due to feeling his inaccuracy makes it difficult at times to establish rhythm, but he would provide Turner great flexibility in scheming things up and is still dynamic inside the 10 yard line. Also, the idea is Newton doesn’t need to be elite or great to provide value just compliment the teams offensive weapons and elite defense. Why? Im talking for a next year bridge type guy at 5-7 million.
  18. I know it won’t be the most well received, but I’m all in on Newton replacing Smiths current role on the roster at a fraction of the cost. This is a move that has a higher ceiling for Washington due to a strong relationship and familiarity with the scheme Newton has with the coaching staff. This shouldn’t preclude the team from being aggressive in getting a young guy they like, but Newton next year could match the current trajectory the defense is on. His leadership and personality would be a great for the team and offense.
  19. Love Alex as a player pre injury and believe his value this year has been immense, but imagine that personnel with an above average athlete at QB (pre injury Alex would’ve been dynamic). Alex still remains dynamic in the short game and pre and post snap reads, a high ceiling still remains with this trio, IMO. Gibson is in the beginning of his journey of running the ball under center, we’ll see.
  20. The team can be a power running team in shotgun sets with him in the backfield; immense value as it opens up so much for Turner, IMO. He’s shifty enough to make things in tight spaces and has tremendous power to help stay ahead of the chains. The RPO slant/hand-off to Terry/Gibson could be a staple for years to come if these two continue their upward trends and remain healthy.
  21. Wonder if we start to see Sweat explore more ways to look for strip sacks in the future. The plays highlighted above presented different situations for each player, but did highlight Sweat going for the sack alone and not looking for the strip sack while making the sack. My football guys, is this an innate type skill (the ability to make the play while attempting to create the big play)? Does this compare to a QB having the “natural” ability to move within a pocket and feel pressure? I come from the basketball world and some skills are easier to teach than others and at times felt the player just lacked the feel or ability to raise the ceiling of their potential. Long way to get to asking can Sweat get to a Chase You g level with the Art of the strip sack?
  22. This right here! These are the type of plays when a DE can flirt with having a similar impact on a game as an elite QB. With the ease to track all stats I hope young leads an evolutionary process for fans and media to begin valuing statistics outside of sacks for a pass rusher. For example, how many FF and TOs forced Bruce Smith has in comparison to a Reggie White. Or... How many intentional grounding forced, holds called against in a career, INTs caused by clear pressure (scratching the surface of subjectivity). FFs and TOs caused should rank just as high as sacks and be discussed by the fan and media more. Young may be the guy to lead us in that direction with his all around play and the technology available to track everything today.
  23. Like when the word “swag” finally reached the white 45 year old dad. Time to hang it up!
  24. Has that Ray Lewis on field leadership. Lack of effort will no longer be tolerated around these parts.
