  1. Pacquaio's last PPV fight bombed horribly, no question Mayweather is the #1 draw in the sport. Mayweather-Guerrero did between 900k-1 mil (no official numbers released but I have seen 930-950 a lot, Showtime claims 1 mil). Pacquaio-Bradley is in the same boat as May-Guerrero, a lot of people say it did 700-750k buys, Top Rank claims 900k. Including DLH, Mayweather's last 7 fights: 2.4 mil buys, 920k, 1.1 mil, 1.4 mil, 1.25 mil, 1.5 mil, 1 mi*, 2.2 mil Pac over that same time frame: 340k, 400k, 250k, 1.25 mil, 660k, 1.15 mil, 1.34 mil, 1.4 mil, 900k*, 1.15 mil, 475k I am 100% in favor of more Super-fight/UFC type cards. I hate how boxing became about one big fight and trash undercards. I think Pac-Bradley will be made and hopefully it sells. The fight should push a mil but with Bob Arum who knows? We'll probably get the fight in China at 9 AM with Zou Shimming headlining the card.
  2. Also, I think Al Haymon and Floyd will convince Broner to hop on the Mayweather undercard and fight for an alphabet title at 135/140 to build himself back up. It would be lunacy to try and rematch Maidana or even stay at 147
  3. I think something like Mayweather-Khan Canelo-Molina Matthyse-Maidana is definitely doable
  4. I've got Silva, Rousey, Barnett, Miller, Porier, Hall, Johnson, Siver, Howard, Macario and Payan. I'm hyped for this card.
  5. Khan-Mayweather is looking more realist by the day. Hopefully they drop the price to $50 and stack the card.
  6. Jesus: Manny Pacquiao has 18 MILLION new tax problems ... in addition to his $50 million tax fight in the Philippines ... and this time, it's Uncle Sam that's trying to force Manny to pay up. TMZ Sports has obtained official documents which show the IRS claims Manny stiffed the government out of federal income taxes from 2006 to 2010 ... totaling $18,313,668.79 in debt. Here's the yearly breakdown: 2006 -- $1,160,324.30 2007 -- $2,035,992.50 2008 -- $2,862,437.11 2009 -- $8,022,915.87 2010 -- $4,231,999.01 Interesting note -- Manny had 3 big fights in 2008, including a match against Oscar De La Hoya in which MP reportedly banked $15-$30 million in guaranteed cash. In 2009, Manny famously fought Ricky Hatton and earned a $12 million purse. Manny's U.S. tax problems come on the heels of a nasty tax war in his home country, The Philippines ... where the govt. claims he evaded paying $50 million in taxes in 2008 and 2009 stemming from fights that took place in the United States. 7. So previously they were putting the pressure on Mayweather to fight Luis Carlos Abregu? I'm not a Arum fan but Jose Sulaiman makes him look like an upstanding citizen. They'll strip Mayweather of the belt and nothing will change
  8. He's no where near Tyson as a draw, Tyson is in a whole different class IMO. Mayweather has had 6 fights draw a million buys and Pacquiao has 6 as well (going off of wiki numbers). DLH is hard to quantify because he didn't have too many massive million plus buy shows but money wise he's either #1 or #2 because he constantly drew against good competition. I think it goes Tyson, DLH, Mayweather, Pacquiao as all-time draws. I still think Mayweather-Pacquaio would be a ridiculously huge money making fight
  9. Rafael: As for Pacquiao's opponent in April, Arum said there are three names under consideration: a fifth fight with Marquez, a rematch with welterweight titlist Timothy Bradley (who claimed a highly controversial split decision against Pacquiao in June 2012), and newly crowned junior middleweight titlist Ruslan Provodnikov of Russia. Pac-Bradley, Pac-Marquez 642, Pac-Provodnikov are all solid fights (a trillion times better than Pac-Rios) but I think Pac-Marquez will be the biggest PPV draw by far. 500,000 PPV buys is pretty bad for the #2 draw in the sport. Hopefully these future PPVs take the Floyd-Canelo approach and stack the undercard. Helps build stars and makes the $60+ price tag easier to swallow
  10. Jesus Christ: Pacquiao said the tax office took the action because it believed he had evaded paying 2.2 billion pesos ($50.2 million) in taxes on his fights in the United States in 2008 and 2009 when he was at the peak of his career and earning tens of millions of dollars. I did notice in the lead up to this fight Dan Rafael and Arum were hyping up how Pacquiao's guarantee was tax free, now I see why. Hope he gets this straightened out and isn't like Shane Mosley, who is fighting at 3:30 AM in Australia on a Wednesday (tonight/tom morning).
  11. "Might be" haha you are being very generous, dude is a clown. Mayweather is playing games too, no doubt about it but he's in a position of power in this negotiation (if it were to take place). Nothing will happen over the next month either way (unless Manny wants to come back in early April). I think Arum will give the usual lip-service about the Mayweather fight (needing to build a stadium, 50/50 purse split, trying to get a network split like Tyson/Lewis, trashing Schaeffer, GBP and Haymon) but will make Manny/Bradley II. Early next year: Manny/Bradley II Mayweather/Danny Garcia (Way too quiet on this front from both fighters, Garcia doesn't want it but the payday will persuade him) Cotto/Canelo would be a really solid first half of the year. Add in a JCCjr circus for good measure
  12. Since Mosley: Ortiz and Guerrero are American, Canelo is Mexican, Cotto is Puerto Rican... Pacquiao on the other hand fought in China on a card that was being floated as maybe being main evented by Zou Shiming before his fans went ape. Have we already forgotten that Arum said Manny is never fighting in America again? haha, that dude is so full of **** it is coming out of his ears Haven't seen the fight yet but I heard he looked good. I hope he's back, a beast Manny is good for boxing. Personally, I think he fights Bradley next. I'm holding out hope for a Mayweather-Pacquiao cinco de mayo fight but won't believe it until I order it.
  13. Iguodala heard a "pop" in his hamstring too, Marc Gasol is getting an MRI today as well. Lots of big time injuries in the NBA
  14. Gotta go to Beal here and it has to be at the end, no chance for OKC to get another shot
  15. Kevin Durant is at 40 tonight, he could average 35+ until Westbrook gets back
  16. DET has until Thursday to re-up with Monroe, correct? They would be crazy not to. He would be a great get if he hits the FA market
  17. The last couple minutes (that I've been watching) have been rough for Nene. He's moving slowly and he's not handled 2 interior passes
  18. Wall 5-18 from the field, 0-4 from 3. Thought he shot <20% from 3 in the preseason, why the hell is he even attempting them at this point.
  19. Schaefer unloads on Arum after he insinuates Canelo is a FA: Article Link -http://www.boxingscene.com/schaefer-on-canelos-contract-cotto-hbo-jabs-arum--70721#ixzz2i8WPdLyA "The guy is getting desperate. First he was pissed when Al [Haymon] and me were with HBO, he was ****ing about the stuff going on with HBO. He could have worked with Showtime. He could have picked up all of the Showtime dates that he wanted. And to make things better for him, the CEO of CBS (Showtime'sparentcompany), Les Moonves, was a personal friend of his. They used to go on vacations together. But Arum is not capable of having relationships. He f**ked his own buddy.” “Arum brought Pacquiao there and Showtime did a terrific job. The single biggest pay-per-view of Pacquiao's career was on Showtime. And then he takes him back to HBO and basically f**ks his ownfriend. He is not capable of having relationships and as a result he became persona non grata with Showtime. The only person he has to blame is himself. And I can guarantee you that it's not whether HBO is going to get f**ked by Arum - that's not the question - the question is when. He is incapable of having relationships. He f**ks everyone and the only person who matters is himself. And he thinks because he is 100-years-old he can get away with that sh*t. He thinks 'oh what do I care at my age.'" “He doesn't give a sh*t anymore and it's showing. Look at the numbers they did at theHome DepotCenter [for Chavez Jr. vs. Vera]. It was one of the worst promotions ever. They barely sold over 3,000 tickets. Look at the Bradley fight [with Marquez]. Some of you media guys were tweeting that he had to hire a seat filler company so it looks good on camera [for the HBO pay-per-view]. Some of you media guys tweeted that stuff out, I'm not making this sh*t up. It's over. It's not a sinking ship - it sunk already.”
  20. Haven't seen the fight yet, will definitely check it out soon. Bradley/Pac II is a certainty for early next year (in Arum's magic arena?) if Pac gets through Rios
  21. Martinez-Cotto at Giants stadium the week of the Puerto Rican Day Parade is what Arum wants, would be massive but I'll believe it when I see it. Bradley-JMM is an eh PPV to me, I'll catch it for free the week after
  22. Something that will be interesting is that Bradley has one more fight with Top Rank after the Marquez one. If he comes out clean and fights early next year, he becomes a promotional FA (assuming he doesn't re-up with Arum). Mayweather-Bradley late next year/early 2015 would be a solid fight especially if Bradley beats Marquez
  23. Vera-Chavez Jr 2 is being discussed. The first fight was the highest rated HBO fight this year Kahn has officially dropped out of the Alexander fight and will wait for Mayweather. Mayweather hasn't committed to anything except for the fact he's fighting on the first Saturday in May
