  1. As my family is from Michigan I follow the Lions and am very happy for their success. But I sure don't think Gibbs was the right pick, do you? They could have had Jalen Carter or others instead they took a RB where they could have found a similar back later in the draft.
  2. I would never complain if they got a player like Harrison at 4. If they stay in that spot they will have a ton of options with 3 QBs. If they fall to 5 and don't trade back I guess they would have to take their favorite OT but I am convinced that would not be good value..
  3. This is my best guess as of right now: 1. Bears take Williams 2. Pats take Maye 3. Cards take Harrison Now what to the Commanders do at 4 this is where it will get interesting. If they roll with Sam and trade out of the pick and acquire additional picks in a deep draft while obtaining a 1st in 2025, which is my preference, well that says a lot about Sam Howell as I'm going to assume these new guys know what they are doing. This is a very good sign. If they do not believe in Howell, or believe they can do a lot better, then Daniels will be the selection.
  4. I have not seen Fuaga rated higher than Sewell. For what it's worth I went to one site and looked at their evaluation of both. Fuaga overall grade was 87.5 Sewall was 93.0 https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Penei-Sewell-OT-Oregon https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Taliese-Fuaga-OL-OregonState Fuaga will probably be solid but for the reasons posted in this thread I just don't see that as a value pick at all.. Yes this was more of what I had in mind. If they do not take a QB, and I remain undecided about that, then trade back to a place where they can still get a elite talent while still finding the OL that are needed. Ideally the trade down will include a first next year. If Bowers falls to their new pick that would be great, if he does not they will still be able to find a good OT prospect and will be sitting on another 1st rounder for next season.
  5. Your reply to me was unclear, now I see you don't want to draft a QB and roll with Howell. But my scenario was if they do take a QB. What do you do with Howell? He won't fetch more than a 3rd I would think and with the bust rate of top 5 QBs so high I think it would be foolish to give a young QB with tools and upside away for a 3rd.
  6. That has always been my issue with taking a left tackle in the top 5. This is a deep OT class, the way to build a team is maximizing the value of every pick and a LT at 4 or 5 is just not good value.
  7. As much of a need as it is a LT at say 4 will be such a disappointment. This team needs impact players and I just don't see any of these LTs as being elite. I will never understand the idea of trading Sam Howell for a 3rd round pick if they take a QB high. The bust rate on top 5 QBs is too high to simply let a guy who has proven he can play in the league walk for a third round pick. Keep Howell as really good insurance if they take a QB would be my thought. But if we came out of this draft with a player who can be a game changer in Harrison yeah I'm OK with that too.
  8. EB was certainly handcuffed by the OL. But IMO he had a voice, perhaps a strong voice, in signing Wylie. But if he really was a creative mind we would have seen receivers open. But that just didn't happen, we saw receivers covered all season. A good OC could have made something out of these pieces, he failed to maximize the talent here and it could be argued he minimized the talent.
  9. When he was hired a lot of us expected schemes that would get receivers running free. Have you seen any of that? I just never saw the offensive improvement I expected.
  10. This may belong in the draft thread but no discussion of drafting Harrison? I am convinced the Bears and Pats will go with the 2 QBs in some order. The Cards I believe will take a player who they believe can be another Calvin Johnson. But if we end up picking above the Cards (I believe they need to win one game as long as we lose out) then the choice would be Harrison or Daniels and it would be foolish IMO to take a LT with such talent available. Either pull the trigger on one of the 2 or trade back, get a future 1st round pick among the teams who really want to take a shot on Daniels, and run it back with Howell with the draft capital to move up to try to find the QB next year if Sam is not the answer.
  11. This is what I was talking about, I didn't bother to put in the work you did. Taking a QB in the top 5 when they have a QB who is probably going to be better is a tough way to wasted a top pick, especially if they deal the QB they already have. I don't see wasting a late first should they acquire one on JJ McCarthy because the odds are too long that he will be better than Sam.
  12. I tortured myself and went back and looked at the history at taking a QB top 5. Let's just say there are a lot more Mariottas than hits. By a long shot To trade a guy who has proven he can play in the league, perhaps at a pretty good level, for those odds is a frightening thought. That's why I believe it would be a terrible mistake to trade Sam Howell, it's not like teams are giving up a high pick for him so what are the chances that pick lands a better QB than Howell?
  13. Well he doesn't Bryce Love suck but he is wildly inconsistent and you can't win with a QB like that. Fortunately we got Bad Love last night. He missed a wide open RB on a swing pass, the easiest throw you can make, on 2nd and 3, then missed by a mile a sideline throw on 3rd down. Loved it.
  14. What a blast last night was. Having such a rooting interest in 2 random games that came down to the wire was just so much fun. Really upset after the Barkley fumble, I'm grateful that Jordan Love, as I had suspected, sucks.
  15. Just came here to post the same thing. Here's the story. Bold move by Jack as it could end it all. But he figured Trump would appeal all the way anyway so he is just saving time. Special counsel asks Supreme Court to rule on Trump's immunity in Jan. 6 case (msn.com)
  16. This has been the most injury free season I can ever remember, and they still suck. I'd like to see him continue to play to gain experience but the only way he will be missed is because the backups are so terrible. So I guess this is good news for The Tank.
  17. By the way having watched what I could of the Chargers on Red Zone all year I'm not convinced Herbert is this stud QB everyone believes him to be. There I said it.
  18. I don't think they will be picking 2 that would require too many things to have to go right. But if they can trade back from say 5 to 9 and pick up a 2025 1st round pick from a team that is not that good (hence why they are picking 9th) and get the 9th pick and possibly more picks this year I'd do that deal twice. We could land a stud LT and have the draft capital to possibly move up and grab a QB next year should Howell fail.
  19. I am still bitter than Ron did not take a TE with such a deep class last year. Then we would not even be considering Bowers.
  20. I don't know the value of going from 2 to 4, I suspect you may be right. But the Bears went from 1 to 9 and got a ton including a future 1st and a WR1 in addition to other picks. All this can change so quickly. The Commies win just one game, in a league where that is still very possible, and all of the plans we are discussing goes up in smoke. I expect them to pick 5-7 and come away with an anchor LT. That would be disappointing as with a higher pick they can do so much more. I am starting to warm to the idea of trading out of the pick if one of the QBs are there as long as the trade includes next year's first round pick. Then we can all hope and pray that the QB we passed on becomes another Bryce Young and we can watch that pick grow higher with each loss.
  21. I stand by my position that Boz was more right than wrong when we look back at Chase Young's career in Washington. He was on it early and he appears to have been correct so no I don't see that as an example of low IQ media coverage. As for Borrow he will be in Cincy, and as a result they will be in the conversation of contenders, for a long long time. Your injury points are pure speculation with no medical basis
  22. As long as Joe Burrow is the QB in Cincy their window is open. I have no idea how anyone can't see how this one player alone changed their team's future considerably. Well it is obviously debatable because we are debating it. 😁 We can spend all day defining bust but it seems pretty clear that Boz was more right than wrong as Chase was not offered a 5th year and was traded for a 3rd round comp pick. Nobody expected that to happen on the day he was drafted.
  23. Yes I had corrected my error. We can argue the merits of Young winning the DPOY award, IMO it was on rep alone and he didn't really have a season like other DROY (Micah Parsons) have had. But I actually don't think Bos was that far off, maybe bust is too strong a word but it sure feels that way to me
  24. As long as they don't trade up they will lost a top 5 pick (we are assuming they are picking 5 or the QBs probably won't be there). That is brutal but not crippling as long as they retain Howell as insurance in case the pick busts. I totally agree with the argument that most top 3 QB picks don't pan out and so many of the top QBs in the league were not all drafted there. But it does improve your odds substantially and if you have the chance to grab a true franchise guy you have to pull the trigger IMO.
  25. Was Boswell wrong when he called Chase a bust after 6-7 games? I know he's not a Courtney Brown bust but he is no longer here and never gave us what we expected so I don't think Boz was so off base. But the QB position is different. Cincy has shown how you can install a great QB and even with the crappy OL they made a Super Bowl very quickly. Now I'm not suggesting the QBs who may be available are rated this highly but if you have the chance to draft a potential franchise QB you have to pull the trigger and figure out the other problems later. A LT would be the safe pick and would lead to immediate results. But I'm pretty convinced none of these LTs will be a value pick in the top 5.
