  1. As if there was another reason to vote out this buffoon in November, but this particularly cruel decision that is also a very unpopular policy plank nationally should be thrown right back in his face. To highlight both the cruelty at the heart of this administration and the lack of brains to act on what it intends to do.
  2. The official stance of the party is to be against mask wearing during a pandemic, to be against BLM protests after the country saw another black man dehumanized and murdered by the state and to be against the removal of pro-slavery symbols of traitors. Even in a country of low information voters this is one hell of an electoral posture. God speed in November.
  3. Heard from an unreliable source in Richmond that white neighborhoods have been destroyed and Antifa supersoliders have taken over the city.
  4. “I never thought leapords would come to eat my face”, sobs the woman from the Leapords Eating Faces Party.
  5. Big news out of the UK, that dexamethasone found to reduce mortality quite significantly in severe COVID patients in a double blind clinical trial. 1/3rd reduction in mortality is what the data supposedly shows. Trial was shut down early, which is usually a sign that the data is sound and the drug is really effective. It is also quite cheap and widely available all over the world.
  6. If wearing a mask triggered the libs, you would have a bunch of dopes walking around with MAGA masks everywhere.
  7. Today is a major L for conservatives. Aside from the big ruling, also an L on immigration enforcement and expansion of gun rights. Really quite remarkable that even with a deeply conservative bench, the most insane ideas out of the right still keep losing.
  8. It’s fair to assume that Roberts only sided with the majority because of Gorsuch. By siding with the majority, he got to assign a libertarian the job of writing the majority opinion, since he’s the senior most member of the majority side. Otherwise, it would have been RBG writing this ruling, and it would have read very differently than what Gorsuch said. Had Gorsuch sided with the conservatives, this is a 5-4 ruling in favor of LGBTQ workplace discrimination. This is 100% Trump’s first judicial pick “betraying” a core legislative and judicial demand of the religious bigots. Lots and lots of social conservatives realizing that they have once again been sold out at the altar of right wing libertarianism LOL.
  9. This is a Roe v Wade level of loss for Christian bigots in this country. And it was delivered by Neil Gorsuch. Evangelicals are in meltdown mode online right now. Look at this clown:
  10. Nah man, this is good. Evangelicals even at their worst can’t get a stacked conservative court to sign on to their bigotry. I feel better about our democracy today.
  11. Imagine my surprise when it turned out that Antifa supersoldiers did not in fact rape and plunder white neighborhoods. Anyone got the beat from Richmond boards on which fictional threat we should be freaking out about? Are the bicycle riding hipsters planning on looting and plundering Cary Street businesses?
  12. Richmond today compared to Richmond 10 years ago is such a vastly improved city. My wife and I make multiple trips a year to visit family and just enjoy all the good food and bars. We are reading some peak fragile white people nonsense right now. If there was a male version of a Karen, this is it.
  13. Won’t someone think about the feelings of racist whiten people is one hell of a take.
  14. This is the greatest liberal victory since avocado toasts went mainstream.
  15. The vast majority of Covid cases that end up in hospitals don’t display fevers. Temperature checks are a really ineffective strategy. Almost every credible study has shown that the live viral load is highest in people at the presymptomatic and early mild symptoms stage. Most of what you are prescribing wouldn’t work. What will work is preventing crowding in indoor spaces, not doing activities indoors that result in droplet formation (talking, singing etc) and mask wearing. This is the only strategy employed around the world that has shown to be effective. It also means that a lot of businesses (like restaurants) and services (like schools), can’t be reopened safely.
  16. The WHO has a serious messaging problem. They’ve been blowing it from the start of the pandemic. It was well established a while ago that presymptomatic people can infect others, it was evident in epidemiological data. The information they released assumed that the general public will differentiate between pre and asymptomatic people. Just bad scientific communication all around.
  17. He isn’t thinking, this is just who he is. Millions of people in this country rewarded him once despite seeing what a vile, lowlife scumbag he is. And he’s banking on the fact that most of this country is as deranged and vile as himself, where they don’t recognize the obvious signs of narcissistic and sociopathic personality disorder because they likely suffer from it themselves. We know he’s got about 40% of the vote on lock and he’s doing his absolute best that in the end, it’s just him and his basket of deplorables.
  18. We should be against banning symbols. I am pro publicly shaming people into making the correct choice. Make stupid choices, get called an idiot.
  19. More likely than not, people will arrive at disbanding police departments and doing the equivalent of a corporate restructure. Tear up the union contracts, fire a lot of people, hire new management, hire some new workers. The efficacy of this will be determined by what policy changes actually happen: do we get better training and higher standards for hiring, community policing, bodycams, less immunity for bad behavior etc? The 8cantwait platform is a good start. Dismantling the current police system and union structure is the right start.
  20. Looks like they didn’t learn their lesson after “Antifa Supersoldiers”.
  21. Rough back of the envelope calculations would tell that 11-15% of the jobs lost since the downturn were restored. Which isn't surprising since businesses in some parts of the country started to reopen at the beginning of May. Even if we return back to 80%-90% of economic activity prior to the shutdown, that is still a deep recession. And it's entirely unclear at what point the post-shutdown recovery actually stalls, which is bound to happen.
