  1. I guess this is the Moses thread. I think he set the record for most plays lost to injury for someone that hasn't missed a game in 5 years.
  2. Jeez remember when Sproles got nailed on a fair catch - some Skin nailed him before the punt got there. That is one tough SOB and am happy to hear JP getting compared to him.
  3. We know the drill by now. Can he block. Not that I agree with that being the do all end all with young backs, but it seems its a bigger priority to coaches than we care to acknowledge when drooling. I have to think RR set realistic expectations there long before we drafted him. I assume Barry was a decent blocker?? Man those Detroit teams sucked. I wonder how many Barry's never got a chance because they couldn't block. #Seastrunk or whatever his name was.
  4. Reach is a draft day expression to me. Nothing more nothing less. "Starters" on D are hard to project for they focus on the base D, which is a relic of the past. With that out of the way, I can't wait till we be Jamin. LBs were heavily targeted (successfully) by OCs last year as their collective low PFF grades can attest (something I heard on XM Fantasy). Expectations must be kept realistic as does grading. Its easy to say our LBs sucked last year but many teams did.
  5. I read he needs to add routes. Is it easy to do so, basically a given he will add them? I admit I have no idea what route package mid rounders have typically mastered by draft day nor how hard it is. But I feel its not unusual to see most WR WE draft sit on the sideline for a year or 2 and we never really know what the holdup is. I usually assume its blocking or better old grizzly vets in front of him that practice perfectly.
  6. Also, Terry's YAC seems off the chart. Defenses look are scared of him. DBs are either on their heels, or are covering over the top. He has a lot of space around him and I suspect Brown is going to have DBs on him like glue. At least until he proves otherwise, of course.
  7. Spot on. I am glad to see someone else comment on the CBs on top of him his entire route. Yep it appears he has that contested catch thing going on, able to adjust to the ball in the air, separate at the key moment, whatever it is. The TMC comparison is a prayer born largely because of their draft position IMO. We can only expect that to happen to us once in our lifetimes e.g. good on teams --> superstar
  8. Great "catch". When a WR knows a corner can run with them, he may be making his catch harder by killing himself to be at full speed the entire route. It's better to change speeds and shake those tight corners but not all can do it. The ability to change speeds especially for those that can downshift for a burst can create separation on the fly when he is otherwise covered. I loved seeing the Tana burst. We kill ourselves drooling over 40 times but their acceleration from different speeds is rarely discussed and never quantified. When I first saw Browns tape he always seemed pretty well covered for a speedy WR but now think he is often using that change of gears.
  9. Diggs won me my season long FF league last year so love the comp. But lets see that route tree expanded, firm up his blocking and find a spot for him on teams. Same stuff different year for a young WR. I am encouraged we have moved beyond seemingly always having to have any WR we draft stand on the sideline for 2 years.
  10. Its never about a backs running skills. It's always about blocking. But I will go ahead and pencil him onto the PS based on that Al Bundy like single game performance.
  11. I am reserving judgement. Having a blocking TE in the game telegraphs heavy run which the D keys on. We can go ahead and run into that brick wall run blitz, or if we end up passing, we are passing with our worst hands TE in the game. On D, wouldn't they want to see the offense passing with their worst hands crew in the game? We saw that all those times we tried to pass to Sprinkle to open games and it never worked. Jay was fooling himself more than the DC. That all said, RR clearly thinks he has decent enough hands to warrant a 4th. I have been disappointed in our lack of PAP in short yardage over the decades since Gibbs left, which is where Bates hands will shine most.
  12. Long and athletic seems to be theme for our D. I like the pick. Half glad to hear Ben is not labeled a ball hawk to keep expectations in check. And a tackling tube is the first I can ever recall for a corner.
  13. I never noticed the games to be any less entertaining when players didn't have to waste much of their off season in OTAs. I never gave a rats ass if Billy or Sonny came to camp out of shape. I never noticed anyone out of shape hurting our team, besides Fat Al. Every time I see someone sustain a major injury in OTAs, or hear about the never ending drama of one guy refusing to show up even though its voluntary, coach asked about it at every presser.... reinforces that i think they are counter productive. Come week 1, everyone's offense looks like crap and defenses control the game, no matter how many months the guys hang out and bond. I am watching every game, fully entertained with or without OTAs. I cannot be alone.
  14. I would be fine if we never again drafted a guy that felt the need to always suck on a lollipop
  15. We signed Adam Humphries 5'11 195 Age 27 I was expecting to see a welcome thread or at least a token mention here.
  16. Came here to read up on our shiny new WR - maybe time to axe/reboot this thing Always loved the double reverse
  17. I am sure I am not the only one impressed to see ole man Magic lower the shoulder and take huge hits to get firsts / TDs. He seems to have cut back in his 5INT games but with it lost the 5TD games.
  18. I can't be the only one that when hearing about Martin Mayhew in Detroit, always thought that this was his home. Sure enough 30 years later we were right. Nailed it!
  19. His wheels opens up the playbook and was the reason why I wanted to see both him and Smith see the field. He was a major curveball that I think we all knew would give defenses fits, after just seeing him play briefly in his first game. I no longer want our draft gurus to target immobile QBs especially ones that have horrific mechanics. I don't give a rats ass what they are rated in the draft. Hard pass. I will take the mobile horrible mechanic guy in the 5th round instead.
  20. I was fully on board until his last few throws that he sailed high and out of bounds. I know they were covering the sidelines but there is such a thing as contested catches and times to risk an INT. Bad throws, or dumb decisions whatever but it sucked to see an otherwise good game from him end that way. They reminded me of Cousins always throwing hail mary's out of the back of the endzone. The only QB I have ever seen consistently do that.
  21. They will call off the dogs because we changed the name duh!
  22. We're back all the way to the Super Blow baby
