  1. I like Keim too. But what it feels to me is that he's employed at a big fish (ESPN) but he's assigned a strictly local gig. From what I usually see, you have guys like Jason La Canfora and Jason Reid come up from the local beat to the national level, and they retain their sources. Ken Rosenthal scoops the Orioles quite a bit as well, despite having been at the national level for over 20 years. Meanwhile, other local guys are able to scoop the story because they are "on the ground" so to speak. Keim is stuck in the middle, where he is at a big-time publication but he's stuck on the Redskins beat. It's really hard for him to break a story because I don't think he's there all of the time, and some people who are there are just more connected because of it. His reporting without snark and such is why I like him, even if he is getting scooped. I want to know what's going on, not have someone's spin on it, and Keim is that guy.
  2. Gotcha. On that note, a confederate statue on private property here in the county I live in was just pulled down and defaced. So I guess I am not seeing the difference. Both are pretty damn offensive. EDIT: for the record, I did not know that the Lenin statue was on private property, so please don't think this was a "gotcha!" question.
  3. I mean, aside from Belichick, which coaches has truly succeeded with GM duties? Mike Holmgren's Seattle team was much better after they took the GM responsibilities from him. Many other situations in the NFL that we view as coach-centric, are actually very collaborative approaches like Seattle and Kansas City. In Seattle, Carroll and Schneider were hired within a month of each other, and have done this together. In Kansas City, Reid brought many executives with him from the Eagles and set up shop in the same way, to the point where I don't think you could view either of them as coached-centered approaches.
  4. I absolutely disagree on taking down the statues of Columbus and some wanting to take down the statues of our founding fathers. I absolutely understand taking down confederate statues, and I think putting them at different battlefield sites or historical locations would be the best way to go. What I don't understand is why the Lenin statue in Fremont, Washington is still standing and hasn't been pulled down yet.
  5. Now, to the topic at hand, I am still a bit down on the Rivera hire, but not as much as I was at the start. I was especially down on the Scott Turner hiring, but the more that I have read about him, the more I like about him. I was reading about when he took over the Panthers offense, they were trying to fit some of their offensive weapons into roles that they weren't best suited for. So instead of doubling down on the system, he made adjustments to put the players into a position to succeed. After we've seen coaches like Spurrier and Gruden become obsessed with their systems and forcing players into roles they aren't the best at, it was great to hear that Turner doesn't have that kind of hubris and is willing to make adjustments. I was also reading that Turner is a huge believer in football analytics. I am an Orioles fan and can tell you all from experience that it is not good to be on the late side of the analytical evolution of the game, so I hope Turner can keep us out in front of things. I was happy with the Del Rio and Matsko hires, as they are two of the best at their jobs. The other coaches, we will have to wait and see. I am concerned that many of them came from the Panthers, who have not done well at all in recent seasons despite having some good talent.
  6. Apparently so. Remember, this is still the guy who let Bruce run roughshod over everyone, gave us a black eye in PR, only had a press conference to fire Allen and said Happy Thanksgiving during it and totally embarrassed us in the NFL community with how he handled the firings of McCloughan and Lafemina. In a sense I feel bad for Rivera that he's coaching the team, running the front office and doing some duties on the business and PR end, but he's been around the NFL. He knows exactly who he went to work for. I hate the coach-centered approach because, aside from Belichick, it rarely works out. There are other situations that some people THINK are coach-centered, when they really are collaborative efforts (like the Seahawks and Chiefs.). But Belichick isn't also involved in the business side of the front office, which it appears Rivera is. Snyder needs to take the reigns here on the business side and let his football guys focus on that.
  7. I see both sides of it. I figure that there should at least be a "down payment" that would be required to hold your exact seats. Otherwise, they could still hold your number of seats for you, but allow other people who paid already to upgrade. I also see that being quite a chore especially if someone has multiple seats together. Probably would have been best to hold off on this.
  8. My window is the 29th at 12:00. This is year 5 with season tickets, but they might also think I'm my father which bumps me back a few years (same first and last name) It's a good sign that they are proceeding as normal this off-season in regards to the ticket renewals, new tickets and upgrade program. I'm fully paid, so if there ever is a cut-off, I'm set.
  9. I get there early to get one of the spots with the curb blocked off, so I'm good on room. I've never parked there so I don't know how easy it is for me, but I take 214 to the game, and shortcut through Enterprise Road both ways- I'm probably one of the few locals. I also enjoy the short walk to my seats- if the walls weren't there, it's ridiculously close. With the dedicated entrances last year, we would leave the car 10 minutes before kickoff and be in the seats when it happened.
  10. In a memo from Goodell sent to all teams, the refund policy is to issue a full refund for any games played without an audience, or apply it as a credit towards future games/seasons, for tickets purchased directly from the team. https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/redskins/nfl-provides-teams-ticket-refund-policy-amid-coronavirus-uncertainties I already purchased mine in full, so I haven't heard anything from them. I did ask for parking passes this year, as that's the only thing on the secondary market that doesn't hit rock bottom, and they gave me purple lot out of the gate.
  11. I just received an email from the Orioles. They are offering a 125% credit to your online account for season ticket holders, or a full refund on March, April and May games. If you ordered single game tickets online or through the box office, they are advising you contact the box office line for refunds/credit. If you ordered through third party sellers, you need to contact the third party seller. I also asked for clarification on whether or not that 125% credit can be rolled into future season tickets, or if it's just for single game purchases. That's huge to me, and not clear in their FAQ. If we don't have a season this year, that credit means my entire 2021 plan is already paid for, as well as 3/4's of 2022. I don't see any team being happy with losing that much active cash flow.

  13. Agreed. I've gotten nothing from the Orioles either. Really sucks that basketball and hockey STH's are still out those games too. I know the teams would like not to give that money back, but roll it into next year, but a lot of fans could use that money right now.
  14. Pellet is the closest thing to it. This is why I have 3, going on 4, grills/smokers.
  15. Now, I haven't tried this, because I just got my airfryer, but I am definitely thinking about trying this. I use GrillGrates on my grills, as they do a lot of good- they disperse heat evenly, give excellent grill marks and can be flipped upside down on a grill and used as a flat-top (making diner-style smash burgers is a great use for them.). They are now making them for indoor use. Here is the link to them, as well as a link on smash burgers. In any case, if they work like they do on the outside grills, they should provide a great indoor cooking experience as well. https://www.grillgrate.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjbr45trA6AIVEBgMCh3Nag8TEAAYASAAEgKHdfD_BwE
  16. I have three- a large Big Green Egg, large Weber Kettle and a small propane gas grill I use to tailgate- and have on a stand outside. I love the BGE, and got the kettle for some easier things rather than going through the process of getting the egg heated up and keeping up on cleaning it out. My next purchase is going to be the new Weber pellet grill. Pellet may be the way for you to go if you can't decide between gas and charcoal, as it's the best of both. You can set the temperature for low and slow, all the way up to searing temps at 600*. Pellets are loaded in easily and aren't as messy as charcoal, and you can combine flavor pellets for different tastes. And the new Weber is compatible with Wi-Fi and you can control the temperature, as well as have four probes, set via Wi-Fi on an app. Although the Weber pellet grill is more than double the price of what you linked. Really, it all depends on what you currently need a grill for, as well as what you realistically intend to use it for. A lot of people get something like a BGE and spend a lot of money on it, and only put things on it that they could use a much cheaper gas grill or charcoal grill for. Great choice, I love my BGE. Although as someone just posted above another reply here, it is very expensive, and I also think people get a BGE when another cheaper grill would suffice. If you plan to do things that are low and slow like ribs, brisket, etc, it's probably one of your best options. But I know a lot of people who have bought one and just do steak, wings and burgers on it, and it's really a waste, both from a money perspective as well as time (it does take some time to get it set up and ready to cook, and most people could get a gas grill or kettle grill up in much less time.).
  17. I honestly wonder how the leagues are going to handle tickets across the board. From the NBA and NHL who haven't finished (and likely have playoff plans being paid for right now), to MLB that isn't starting on time, what's going to be the process? I also have Orioles tickets, and when I've bought the playoff package and they didn't make it like in 2016, that money went towards the tickets for next season. However, that money could be useful for the STH's right now to make bill payments for a couple months, or buy groceries, or anything of the sort. I really hope teams just aren't going to put that money towards "next year" when some people may not have the income yet to go back to attending games with all of the other costs besides admission. It would really be nice if those teams would start funneling the unplayed games back to the STH's. I know the NFL is likely to get some sort of season in, so the Redskins should be fine, but they should have a plan in place as well.
  18. I didn't have parking before, and immediately got purple parking by asking for it- still have to pay for it, but I'm not starting out in the green lot which I didn't want anyway. They are clearly trying to keep everyone they possibly can.
  19. Since it's at Fed Ex I might, going to check with a couple of the guys who come with me to games to see if they want to go.
  20. High Republic era is beginning 200 years before The Phantom Menace. Rumors I am hearing is that it's going to have a "knights of the roundtable" feel to it, and kicks off this summer with comics and novels. When I was looking at the expected novels a month ago, there was nothing coming out after the spring releases of the new Thrawn trilogy book one, and Alphabet Squadron book two. Now I know why.
  21. Like I said, just ask for it. I'm beyond shocked they immediately offered purple parking to me for the price of the green lot. I usually go to purple/orange D. The lot hardly ever fills, and I get one of the corner spots and just spread out to the curb. I've also found that the closer you are to the stadium, the easier it is to get out (did that for years with my uncle going out of the handicap area across from purple D.) Just another option for people to consider if they can't get the red zone pass.
  22. I responded to the initial email from my STH representative from last week over the weekend, and asked if it would be possible for me to get parking passes. I didn't even play it off as life or death for renewing my tickets. Not only did they say yes, but I got Purple parking passes off the bat, and I'm only a lower level STH. If you are looking to upgrade parking or just getting it added on, I suggest sending the email.
  23. I received a phone call from my representative and a voicemail (I was in the middle of a work meeting) and then received an email from her before the automated renewal notice came out on Thursday. I appreciate that they are trying to call some of the people. I guess it depends on the tickets that you have, even though I don't have club or anything like that. I might see if I can get parking for next season, as that option hasn't become available and the prices on the secondary market are still pretty crazy for parking. Does anyone know if the Gold membership gets you up to the club level before/after the game for the free food sections? I bought club seats for the 49ers game to stay out of the rain (and they were $20 each) and I noticed those sections blocked off specifically for Gold. I used to be able to get pre-game club access for the Orioles with season tickets but they took that option away.
  24. In a different circumstance, it absolutely would. However, I have a lot of great memories going to games with my dad and uncle which included tailgating before and after games. I got my own tickets and started takings friends and co-workers to do the same, including taking many people to their first ever NFL game. I got tickets when I did because I got aisle seats down near the visitor tunnel, and I knew that if the new stadium is built in DC or VA, that I would not have season tickets again. So that's where I stand on it. If we had a new stadium here in MD and in the same situation we are now aside from that, my renewal would hinge on Bruce Allen being removed from the organization completely, because he has weasled his way back into power before.
