I have long thought that “holding out seats” like this is shorthand for “these are broker seats, and if someone really wants them especially if they are adding seats we will sell to them.” Or, you can sub out broker for sponsorship comps, and they can always move those around if a paying STH really wants a different seat. Were the free tickets just if you upgraded? My fiance and I are seriously considering the club upgrade from 114 to 315 because we enjoyed the Dolphins game up there, and all of the perks. I can’t imagine that it would be free tickets to all of the events, and just a one-time deal, but I have to ask.

Pretty bummed that I have something going on- again- during the in-person relocation event. I don’t know why they did the switch from virtual to in-person. My rep Sophia has been great. It’s been a very good level of service since Jason Wright took over, and I think their season ticket reps are the best part of the front office.

GoDaddy’s appraisal has ExtremeSkins.com valued at $1515, but I bet the team won’t part with it for a variety of reasons. So if the team shuts it down, you’re looking at rebranding the new forum I won’t get into the 501c3 thing, as I’m not sure how it work work for something like this. I would say I wouldn’t have a problem with someone or a group having an LLC, and at the end of the year sending some excess funds to a charity or two, with a “rainy day” fund set aside for six months operating costs. I just think people are underscoring a lot of the time that will need to be put in, as well as the yearly board license fee and hosting. A site this large costs a lot of money to keep going with the peaks it is going to have in traffic. It’s easily into $200-plus a month range, probably more.

Gonna highlight those pieces. You can have all of the funding in the world, but someone has to have their name on it and take ownership of it. That also means liability. Also, taking money from people here means someone has to be communicating where/what that money is being used for. Even if it isn’t used for that month’s server costs, as I imagine some people may only donate certain times/when they are able.

You still need someone to understand phpbb and be able to install it and work with issues. The host I did mention in an above post was bought out and the new company does specialized vBulletin and XenForo hosting. They also do other forums. Their 8 options range from $119/month to $245/month for a dedicated server. They also manage backups and those things. I have no clue about the back-end of this site, but we might outclass their options.

I used to use vBulletin, and had a host who specialized in vBulletin (and then XenForo) software, so I could easily create a ticket with them to install a mod/hack and look at something. But I don’t know if something like that exists for Invision, or even exists any more at all.

Having done all of this for myself, and for a similar role like TK does with a big company, people are drastically underestimating the cost and time commitment. A server to feature all of the traffic of this forum, especially during peak times like game days, draft, etc, is going to cost a lot. The database also compiles information over time. Then, you have to look for a skin and probably pay someone to do that. Paying a yearly fee to use Invision, and if you don’t know how to install their mods/hacks for features, paying someone to do those too. We aren’t even talking putting up ads yet to make money, as well as managing the ads so people aren’t getting crazy ones. It is a lot. It’s basically a part-time job with a lot more expenses that would need to be covered.

We started a discord when Tribune axed PSD, it does not work the same. If you want it as a landing zone in case something happens, that would work, but it isn’t the same forum feel and many of those folks did not make the transition, or left shortly after.

Tribune cut the cord on PSD over the summer, and we’ve tried to keep a discord up for people but you are right, it just doesn’t work. It would be good as a landing zone for people though. I think there is an issue with Invision (the software that runs ES) and how embedding works now that Twitter is X. It is happening on another forum I am on as well.

I ran a sports-gaming forum that had 130-230 users logging in each day. We had 20-30 who used a chat box every day which took up some bandwidth. Post counts were over 1 million for the board, and it was a 4-5 year old database for the forum plus a WordPress homepage. We had to have the ability to also plan for big spikes in activity- NFL draft, Madden release, etc. We paid about $120 a month and that was 10 years ago. For a board like PSD or ES, where it’s a 20 year old database, multiple software updates, millions and millions of posts, all of the user account information, all of the moderator logs, server lots, etc. You’re probably looking at a decent multiple of that number.

I was an admin at one point on ProSportsDaily, and Covers (through Nova Scotia Media Pro through Tribune Media) decided to give everyone four days notice on shutting the site down and “merging” it with a sports gambling site. From what I know about Wright, he interacted with a friend of mine at a tailgate late last season and was brutally honest saying he met Snyder only two times. So he’s all good in my book, him offering to cover the bill- which I know for a site this large is no small chunk of change- is pretty impressive. Most places are shutting forums down now, they just aren’t attracting many new members at this. Reddit, Discord and social media are how the younger crowd can communicate instantly, with a much larger audience.

Anyone going to the film review event tonight? Never been to one of the events as a STH, figured why not for this since I come from a family of football coaches.

Seatgeek just seems low rent. Freaking Foul Ball guy Zack Hample is sponsored by them. I guess that’s a small step up from the people usually associated with this franchise but still……it seems low rent for an NFL team.

My rep Sophia has been completely awesome. I had an email response from her within 90 minutes saying the head of security would be in touch, and within an hour after that, she actually copied them on another email. Now, haven’t heard from that yet, but I do appreciate that the “middle men” are actually trying here.

Haven’t really interacted here a ton, but I will say that forums as a medium have been dying and many are dead. They were extremely popular from 2005-2010, then things started to slowly bleed out when Twitter started. When Reddit became popular around 2014, forums died completely. There are very few large communities left, and many of them are slowly dying. I used to run ProSportsDaily, a very large forum, which is now owned by Tribune Media and operated by Nova Scotia Media Pros, who also operate Covers.com. Needless to say, most of their attention is on Covers. I stopped coming around to PSD mid 2020, and they still haven’t noticed I rarely log in, and don’t do anything in the AdminCP. Before PSD, I ran a sports-gaming site on my own. We did well for ourselves, but with GroupMe and Discord becoming popular, the sports gaming leagues we hosted ended up going there so we lost a huge base. It’s just the evolution of the internet. I’m sure ES is one of the more active forums out there, and fills a niche, but you also have Reddit to compete with. I f a new owner comes into play and wants to shut this place down and not sell the database, that’s it for ES. If that starts to happen, you might want to create a Facebook group to start stockpiling people if you do want to start a new site of some sort, whether forum or otherwise. My great-uncle was a finalist for the top 70 team they did in 2004 or 2005, and I have a lot of fond memories of the team, but if they go PSL’s I am out. I am enjoying the time with my tickets now, knowing that I might attend one game a year from here on out when they do have a stadium. But this is the cost of doing business for them, and people will pay it. A couple weeks ago, I got an email from UGA asking for donations to their NIL fund. And this is to people who donate money to a fund every year to get the right to purchase season tickets, and the amount of money you donate dictates how many you get, how close you are and if you can get tickets for the Florida game every year.

Emailed my rep, but also figure I could ask here, but has anyone had any luck with getting in touch with someone and having camera footage released to them if they were hit in the parking lot during the game? Had a hit and run occur and it was definitely at the stadium, but we didn’t notice until this morning based on the location of the damage. They have to have cameras in the lots right?

I was going to hold my tickets until they moved to a new stadium, because I love the tailgate environment at Fed Ex, and will not commute more than once or twice a year to DC or VA, but this just doesn’t feel like my team anymore. It’s an expansion team. The worst thing they could do was pick a name most of us were neutral to, and that’s exactly what they did. Now, they’ve got patches on the uniforms saying “Since 1932” and with the incorrect Super Bowl dates (when the club level banners have the correct dates on them), plus they are now signing emails “Hail to the Coammanders” and I just can’t. My uncle caught touchdown passes from Sammy Baugh. He played and coached for the Redskins. This just isn’t feeling like it’s my team anymore. And honestly, I like some of the players, but I hated the Rivera hire- he had the same number of winning seasons in Carolina that Bruce Allen had here- and he was a part of this rebrand with NO history to the team. He, Jason Wright and Doug Williams, who doesn’t even have two full seasons worth of starts, were leading the rebrand with Danya. Gus Frerotte and Mark Brunell had more starts. So what we got is what we got. I thought I would be done a year after Football Team, so I will give it s year, but I would’ve much rather kept Football Team. Going to the Commanders, rewriting our history and making an alternate jersey maroon and black just isn’t doing it for me. But of course we don’t even get a week’s notice. I have two events going on that weekend, and I am sure I am not the only one with plans that can not be moved. Hmm, definitely interested in that. Might as well go out with a bang. I assume that contracts are a thing of the past for the club level at this point?

Pretty sure this is my last year with season tickets and as a fan……..it just doesn’t feel like my team anymore. This whole process was decided by outsiders, and the uniforms designed by the owner’s wife….and they are so desperate to make us feel this isn’t an expansion team that they put a patch on the back of each jersey above the name. I just can’t deal with this team anymore.

Personally, I view the statement as more of a threat of moving. The lease is up in 2027, and Snyder will go where the cash is. I don’t have confidence we will be a winning team and do enough to get either MD/DC/VA on the side to publicly fund a stadium, so I imagine he puts out feelers to move and decide between that, or tearing down Fed Ex and rebuilding.

I bet you they raise everything else, just like what the Orioles did. Parking went up $5 per game (which isn’t much, admittedly) but concessions went up a truckload across the board, which was odd considering it feels like the Nats lowered parking and ticket prices, and concessions remained flat. But since this is the NFL, I’m a bit surprised they admitted this.

I didnt see any window noted. Where did you all see it? As far as tailgating goes, no one is going to stop me from bringing a cooler and some snacks in my car.

Nothing came to me either. Something would be nice, but then again, I asked for the refund so maybe I'm off the list. It does not appear that the team is going to let fans in at this time from the articles I've seen.
