  1. I think that is exactly where we stand. I almost always vote GOP and agree that both sides are to blame. The issue is that the side in power wants to get it's agenda through, and decided that the "old rules" don't necessarily apply if they deem the legislation very important. While many don't like the filibuster (usually the ones in power), it is a good tool to help make sure both sides are heard and usually (at least in the more distant past) led to compromise. Now, the Dems finally got fed up with the GOP blocking health care, so they decided to go nuclear. Now, the GOP will most likely use that same device to get other parts of the agenda through (my guess is SC nomination), which will effectively end the filibuster for good. It won't officially be gone, but who will let the other party use it from now on?????
  2. You can keep holding your hands over your ears, screaming Na-Na-Na all you want, but the bottom line is when Reid used the nuclear option, regardless of the issue, it opened it up for whenever any other Senate want to use it. Period. I never said the Filibuster was dead, it is just now completely useless if the majority want to push their agenda through.
  3. I'm still crying over all that waste. Don't think I can go on.
  4. By using it for his purposes, he in fact killed it. No reason the GOP can't use it for what they wish - specifically SC appointments.
  5. I was very happy when Klinsi was given the job and thought he did some very good things. I stood by him, even when he made some bad choices during the WC. I can't stand what he's done in this Hex. Using the first half vs Mexico to try out a completely new formation? Sticking to the same players in CR, even after the Mexico game. Horrible game management. Now the team looks like they gave up in the last 15 minutes. That is completely unacceptable. He needs to go and take several players with him. Edit - I have know idea what is going on with Brooks, Chandler, and Johnson. They play so well in the BL (at least the games I've watched them this season) and look like amateurs tonight.
  6. Really, a Mexican Ref team? Wonder how the calls are going to go this game.....
  7. THAT. WAS. SWEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTT!!!!!!! Go Terps
  8. I really like Pusilic and he has a great future, but he's NOT a #10. Hope he plays in the role he took on in second half, not first half of last game.
  9. Terps Soccer team win's its 3rd straight Big 10 championship today, beating Wisconsin 2-1. http://www.umterps.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=29700&ATCLID=211294296 WESTFIELD, Ind. – Top-seeded Maryland defeated No. 3 seed Wisconsin, 2-1, in the 2016 Big Ten Men’s Soccer Championship on Sunday afternoon to win its fifth straight conference tournament crown. Sophomores DJ Reeves and Sebastian Elney each scored as the Terps (18-0-2) moved their winning streak to 15 games, the longest stretch in program history. Maryland has not lost since falling to Ohio State in Columbus on Oct. 31, 2015 – a stretch of 25-straight matches. Sunday’s title was the third consecutive for Maryland since it joined the Big Ten Conference in 2014. It is the longest streak for a Big Ten team since Indiana won six in a row from 1994-1999. Reeves, who made his first career start on the conference’s biggest stage Sunday, wasted little time getting Maryland on the board at 1:24 when he beat the keeper on the endline and shot from six yards to the left. Suli Dainkeh was credited with the long assist. Wisconsin evened the score with a goal 10 minutes later. Christopher Mueller and Noah Leibold’s exchange set up the Tom Barlow score for a 1-1 match. Elney gave Maryland the go-ahead goal with time waning in the first half. Jorge Calix’s corner kick provided the sophomore forward with the assist on the header from six yards for a 2-1 lead in the 43rd minute. “This was another great team performance and once again we showed our resiliency,” head coach Sasho Cirovski said. “We showed our championship fiber. This is an absolutely remarkable accomplishment. With all the success that I’ve had, I’m still at a loss for words for the fifth conference championship in five years. I credit my staff and my players for their resiliency and class and for bringing it every single day.” Sunday’s championship was Maryland’s 33rd league title overall and its ninth tournament championship.<rest at link> Going back to the ACC, this is Maryland's 5th straight conference championship. As they say, "One for the Thumb". Let's hope they can continue this into the NCAA tournament and bring home a National Championship.

  11. This story and video just reminded me of why I love soccer so much: http://www.foxsports.com/soccer/story/watch-this-one-legged-dundee-united-fan-score-a-cantona-esque-chip-111016 By Aaron WestNov 10, 2016 at 5:38p ET At halftime of Dundee United's 1-0 win over Dunfermline on Tuesday, United fans were challenged to race down the pitch from midfield and score in 10 seconds. 32-year-old Tommy McKay stepped up to the challenge and hightailed it down the pitch with plenty of time to spare, calmly lobbing the goalkeeper from 20 yards out with a magnificently weighted chip worthy of the players on show in the actual match. And he did it all with just one leg <video and rest at link>
  12. Thank goodness. We aren't playing Antigua.
  13. That lizard and what it did was the most amazing thing I've seen on animal shows.
  14. So, this week Pete Carroll complains that the refs have cost the Seahwaks games. Tonight, they get away with several penalties, most surely the roughing the kicker by Sherman at the end of the first half and then the more egregious illegal contact on a receiver past the 5 yard area on the last Bills offensive play. Sherman knocks down the receiver in the end-zone, while Taylor has the ball in his hand, and the ref is literally 3 yards away, looking right at them.

  16. Will someone please show Everton how to defend. Their backs and GK looked really silly on that second Chelski goal.
  17. The men's soccer and lacrosse teams see things differently. Very differently.
  18. Just when I thought there was no good news to read, along come these great people: http://www.foxnews.com/health/2016/11/03/neighbors-give-special-needs-boy-who-was-hospitalized-halloween-do-over.html Neighbors give special needs boy who was hospitalized a 'Halloween do-over' David Dakake wasn’t able to go trick-or-treating Monday because he was hospitalized, but he was still able to partake in the holiday’s festivities. That’s all thanks to dozens of strangers and neighbors who rallied to throw the 12-year-old special needs boy a “Halloween do-over” on Wednesday, after David was discharged, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. David’s mother, Leann Dakake, of Paulding County, Georgia, said her son was heartbroken when she told him he’d have to miss Halloween. The Dakakes adopted David from Latvia in 2007 when he was a toddler. David was born premature, and suffers from deafness and a mild form of cerebral palsy, which affects his movement, the news station reported. These needs sometimes require extra care. Moved by her son’s reaction, Leann shared news of their predicament on social media and reached out to a neighbor. Although the Dakakes only moved to their new neighborhood of Seven Hills a few days ago, Leann said the outpouring of support was overwhelming, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Dozens of neighbors agreed to open their doors with candy for David. Next, another person proposed a trunk-or-treat idea, which the community organized Tuesday.

  20. Very cool story about one (maybe 2) Cubs fans and how they enjoyed the Game 7 of the WS http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/17963668/keeping-promise-man-listens-chicago-cubs-win-dad-gravesite Keeping promise, man listens to Cubs win at dad's grave site 3:08 PM ET Associated Press Facebook Twitter Pinterest Email print comment GREENWOOD, Ind. -- A North Carolina man drove to his father's grave site in Indiana to listen to the Chicago Cubs win Game 7 of the World Series, keeping a pledge the men made to each other. Wayne Williams listened to the Cubs' 10-inning 8-7 victory over the Cleveland Indians on his smartphone Wednesday night at his father's grave in the military section of Greenwood Forest Lawn Cemetery in suburban Indianapolis. View image on Twitter His father, also named Wayne Williams, was a Navy veteran. He died in 1980 at age 53. The younger Williams told WTHR-TV he and his father had a pact: When the Cubs got into the World Series again, they would listen to the games together. He kept his promise, sitting in a fold-out chair draped with a Cubs "W" victory flag.
  21. I'm pretty sure the defender was carded for potentially damaging CR7's boot.
  22. Terps Mens soccer team plays the winner of the Big 10 play in game (#9 Rutgers vs #8 Michigan) on Sunday, November 6 at 4:00 in College Park. The Terps completed an undefeated season at home and I hope to be there to watch them complete it that way on Sunday. http://www.bigten.org/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/103016aaa.html
  23. Good away win for Bayern yesterday. Overall dominant performance with PSV goal clearly off-side. One issue is Bayern are too susceptible to quick counters. Need to improve on that to proceed far in UCL. Next match vs Atleti to determine the most likely group winner.
  24. Make a deal with you, here on the site (so it can't be taken back). When you start PT, you post here what you have to go through on a daily basis. I will supplement my normal workout with your regiment. You won't go through your recovery alone, I am happy to go through it with you.
