  1. It was Bubba Clinton's 'Cabinet' that was all in for the boobs. #wellyoustarteditsothere
  2. This is one of the items that I mention whenever I see writers (usually on ESPN or Fox) saying that the EPL is so great because "on any given weekend, any team can beat any other team". That just isn't true. The top several sides (right now, Chelsea, Pool, City, and sadly recently United) just don't lose to ANY side in the bottom half. Arsenal and Spurs will drop one or 2, but that's about it. Period. That's why this league will come down to a few games and major injuries to decide the league. Chelsea have the advantage of a 2 match lead and along with Pool, have no other commitments. City, IMHO, will gel and improve and could go a multiple match run as well. Even United have gone on a good run, but I don't think they can make up the points. This is no slight on the EPL - every major league is like this. The top several teams are way ahead of the bottom ones. Good luck to Pool today, if for no other reason than to keep the race alive and kicking. Sadly, we will get a couple weeks of this in January and February. The best is the mid-30s and wet (combo of rain, ice, and snow). Good times. Welcome to the DMV!!!
  3. Worse is that I don't think that an actual review ever happened. There was no waiting for the officials to set the ball/start the clock and no announcement of a review. One thing that worries me going forward is the amount of penalties this team takes. It speaks to the coach/team discipline. Hope that is addressed by next season.
  4. Because that is what Chelski do. The just buy, buy, buy. Do they need the player? Doesn't matter. Like DC9 said, if another (especially London based side) is looking at a player, Chelski will do their best to get him. Right now, they have a stunning 38 (Thirty Eight) players out on loan. Ridiculous.
  5. Actually a stark difference from most leagues. I believe 2 of the matches are non-league, but still is too many games for players in that time span. I think Depay has the tools to become a top level player - he was scouted by Bayern before he went to ManU. He was just another player who went for the money way too soon instead of developing his game before leaving his club. The problem with any player who goes to the EPL is that there isn't any learning curve time. They spend lots of money and expect the finished product. If you aren't the exact level/type of player the side wants, then you can be easily cast aside. This isn't every EPL side, but the top money sides operate this way (I don't know why Chelski, ManU, CIteh even have academies).
  6. Of course they should. The don't sell "ISIS Lives Matter" shirts. BLM is only following in the foot-prints of race hucksters and trying to make a quick buck on the backs of young black men getting killed every day by other young black men. Shameful. Shame. Shame. Shame.
  7. Excellent first half by Bayern. They never really let RB into the match at all (except for one cross early in match). First 2 goals were nice, flowing goals with Lewa very much involved in both. RC was a very bad (and stupid) tackle and completely deserved. Match was over after second goal. The PK was as much Costa initiating contact, but in these situations when the GK leaves his feet, he opens himself up to a PK being called and the ref made his decision. Second half was simply Bayern completely imposing their will and getting out of the match with no injuries. Costa and Thiago were great all match. Hummels with the blond locks (due to a lost bet, LOL). Can't wait for Boateng and Coman to be fully fit. On a side note, Julian Green loaned to BL-2 side Stugggart for remaining of season. Hope he gets plenty of playing time. They are a good club (historically) and do treat their players well. Good luck Julian. Now BL gets a month long break and hope Bayern come back stronger than ever for a run at 3 Trophies.
  8. Simply and completely unacceptable behavior. After the Brazil plane crash, the best in football teams/fans came out in support and coming together as a community. I don't care what team you support or how much you 'hate' the other team, in the end it isn't really life or death (sorry, Mr Shankley). To sing songs about people losing their lives, just to 'get at' other fans is a total disgrace. ================================================================================================= Found the link for Bobby Woods goal (favorite is the last view, seeing the GK snap his head back to watch the ball sail into the net): http://www.si.com/planet-futbol/2016/12/20/bobby-wood-goal-hamburg-schalke-video-bundesliga @DC9 - I"m taking off work to watch the Bayern v RB match. I hope that it lives up to the hype.
  9. First, the science has shown that 'global warming' has not been what has bee predicted by the models. It is a hoax, deal with it. There are lots of things that can (and are) being done to protect the environment. Two completely different items. By the way, even Obama seems to agree that the "Big Lie" about man made global warming needs to be protected at all costs, the science be damned: http://freebeacon.com/politics/congress-obama-admin-fired-top-scientist-advance-climate-change-plans/ Congress: Obama Admin Fired Top Scientist to Advance Climate Change Plans Investigation claims Obama admin retaliated against scientists, politicized DoE BY: Adam Kredo December 20, 2016 3:00 pm A new congressional investigation has determined that the Obama administration fired a top scientist and intimidated staff at the Department of Energy in order to further its climate change agenda, according to a new report that alleges the administration ordered top officials to obstruct Congress in order to forward this agenda. Rep. Lamar Smith (R., Texas), chair of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, released a wide-ranging reporton Tuesday that shows how senior Obama administration officials retaliated against a leading scientist and plotted ways to block a congressional inquiry surrounding key research into the impact of radiation. A top DoE scientist who liaised with Congress on the matter was fired by the Obama administration for being too forthright with lawmakers, according to the report, which provides an in-depth look at the White House’s efforts to ensure senior staffers toe the administration’s line. The report also provides evidence that the Obama administration worked to kill legislation in order to ensure that it could receive full funding for its own hotly contested climate change agenda. The report additionally discovered efforts by the Obama administration to censor the information given to Congress, interfering with the body’s ability to perform critical oversight work. “Instead of providing the type of scientific information needed by Congress to legislate effectively, senior departmental officials sought to hide information, lobbied against legislation, and retaliated against a scientist for being forthcoming,” Smith said in a statement. “In this staff report based on lengthy record before the committee, much has been revealed about how senior level agency officials under the Obama administration retaliated against a scientist who did not follow the party line.” “Moving forward, the department needs to overhaul its management practices to ensure that Congress is provided the information it requires to legislate and that federal employees and scientists who provide that information do so without fear of retribution,” Smith said.<rest at link>
  10. ... and that, boys and girls, is how you get a political item into the 'Owned Thread'. No comments, no partisan crap, just two articles that completely own each other. Nice job, @DC9.
  11. and Bobby Wood scores a fantastic goal, giving Hamburg a 2-0 lead over Schalke and certainly now all 3 points. I'll try to find link later.
  12. Dortmund v Ausburg match is cracking in the second half. If this is that current status of US college soccer, the future for the US team is VERY bright. He was just signed last window, so he's going nowhere (and everyone had their chance). He's signed through 2021 and very happy at Dortmund. Also, he's not even their best attacking player.
  13. Well, to be fair, it's really hard to find any type of political discussions going on right now in the Tailgate. How about this dude: was this guy going after him?
  14. Much better on this thread having a little fun with each other. I don't agree with your assessment of the BL (especially since Kusen and Dortmund are right now out of the top 4 but doing great in the UCL), but that is more a style thing I believe. No surprise that Arsenal lost again. They just don't have the strong force since Patrick Viera left. Hope to see a great match on Monday.
  15. Don't judge on one match (cough, cough Burnley). Berlin have been good this season and Leipzig have been a great, attacking side. By the way, the Douglas Costa goal today was fantastic:
  16. Well, maybe you shouldn't criticize what I post (directly in your response) without knowing that I do know, directly through my job, about the science of global warming (and the non-science and hysteria about it as well). By the way, please let us know your "own observations" that show "global stupiding (what is that???) is very real and a serious threat". What exactly is the threat? How is it 'very real'?
  17. So, even your own self-selected media shows that parts of the Earth are warming while parts are cooling. How does this fit the narrative that humans, and specifically CO2, are leading to a run-away global warming that will make us into a new Venus? Maybe some of you need to see the latest items showing the hysteria about man-made global warming is a scam: https://wattsupwiththat.com/2016/12/03/shock-the-father-of-global-warming-james-hansen-dials-back-alarm/ http://www.drroyspencer.com/my-global-warming-skepticism-for-dummies/ https://judithcurry.com/2016/12/15/the-latest-climate-conspiracy-theory/ https://judithcurry.com/2015/12/21/busting-or-not-the-mid-20th-century-global-warming-hiatus/ As I've said many times, If the OP had actually taken the GOP to court, he'd have been laughed out of court and still paying for their court costs.
  18. Any one. You have a weapon in your hand and the Police tell you to drop it, you need to drop it. Don't understand why this is such a difficult thing to understand. One who understands proper punctuation and doesn't post a rambling, run-on sentence.
  19. Ummm, No. DeMatha would beat the lady Terps. They ladies just aren't athletic enough to keep up. No offense, just the truth.
  20. Well, I'm sure he meant no dis-respect: The fact is that UMd talent has gone down in the past several years and they need lots of new guys in to rebuild the program (like say, PSU after the revelations that 'St. Joe' knew about the attacks, did nothing, and eventually the program lost many players/recruits, but hey, I didn't need to remind you of that, you already know that). The rankings are what they are, and if you don't like hearing about it, don't listen to it (or your 'friends'). If the rankings really still upset you, maybe you can get money to demand a recount. Lastly, we really don't have any problem with folks from other schools coming here, as long as they are respectful, even if they disagree. Your post was mostly just a rant about why you are so upset that UMD is ranked above PSU. If that is so important to you, how about creating your own PSU thread and post away. Otherwise, to be quite frank, I don't care one bit about how you feel about the rankings or UMD overall (and I bet no one else here does, either).
  21. https://www.dailystar.com.lb/Life/SciandTech/2016/Dec-13/385200-six-story-high-wave-sets-a-record-says-un-agency.ashx Agence France Presse GENEVA: The U.N.'s weather agency Tuesday announced the highest wave on record – a behemoth that towered 19 meters (62.3 feet) above the North Atlantic. Scrutiny of data sent back by an automated buoy showed a monster wave rose at 0600 GMT on February 4, 2013 at a remote spot between Britain and Iceland, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) said. "This is the first time we have ever measured a wave of 19 meters. It is a remarkable record," WMO deputy chief Wenjian Zhang said in a statement. Taller than a six-storey building, the mighty wave occurred after a "very strong" cold front had barreled through the area, producing winds up of 43.8 knots (81 kilometers, 50.4 miles per hour). The previous record height for a wave was 18.3m, notched up in December 2007, also in the North Atlantic.<rest at link> Really good that no ships were in that area. Just think what it would look like - seeing a wave taller than many hotels - coming at you. Scary. Note: This was not a 'Rogue Wave' that have been measured via satellite to be 100 feet tall.
  22. Just to clarify, they were responding to questions from the English media. They didn't just post it out of the blue.
  23. http://www.onegreenplanet.org/news/moment-shelter-dogs-experience-warm-beds/ Every year, six to eight million animals enter U.S. shelters, but only three to four million get adopted. Life in an animal shelter can be understandably terrifying for dogs as their days are filled with loud shelter noises, strange people constantly walking by, and no human to snuggle up with in bed. When YouTube celebrity Stuart Edge went to volunteer at his local animal shelter for the first time, he realized first hand just how depressing a shelter can truly be. So he decided to do something about it. How could he instantly help all of the wonderful dogs he just met at the animal shelter? Dog beds! He left the shelter and went straight to the store. Together with a group of friends, Stuart took the dogs out for some fresh air and a nice long walk before bringing them back to surprise them with their new beds. As you can see from the above video, their reaction is priceless. The dogs instantly climbed into their plush, warm beds, and cozy up for naps. If you feel inspired after watching this video, you can make a difference in the lives of homeless animals simply by volunteering. Organizations rely heavily on volunteers to assist with animal care and day-to-day operations. There’s never a shortage of things to do and opportunities are available for people of every skill set. You can help take dogs for walks, give them food and water, and make sure their area is clean. If your preference is helping out behind the scenes, you can volunteer your services by assisting with fundraisers, outreach events or general office tasks. And please, always adopt and never shop! I have 3 adopted dogs myself and they are great dogs. AS they say, if you want a dog, take a trip to a shelter or look up 'rescue dogs' if you have a more specific breed that you like. Nothing as cool as rescuing a dog.
