  1. That is such good news (for what has happened to you). Just keep moving forward one day at a time and get better. Check your PM.
  2. First, calling a long pass on this series just sows up how out of touch the coaches are. He's been awful and the running game has been good. After that fumble, Hills should NEVER play another down for the Terps. See if the freshman can play and give him every snap the rest of the way. Perry (and his 75 years at UMD) is over and we need to see how the other guys can do. Losing to Minnesota and Indiana is an embarrassment to Maryland.
  3. Thanks very much for the explanation. Not watching as closely as I should have - just going on this week's demolition of United. Hope you get Castle in the finals as well - put that trophy on your mantle. "Pick a Champion from those" OK, If I have to put money up, I'll take Pool.
  4. That's great because the team is very enjoyable to watch (for us 'neutrals', maybe not always for you die-hards). If I saw the results correctly, then your 2 biggest worries in the League Cup went out today (City to United and Chelski to West Ham). You guys beat Spurs - the team I thought would cause you the most problems. Arsenal will be left, but I think they won't make the Cup the priority and their 'second' squad isn't nearly as good as your's. Even straight up (would be a great final), I'd give you the massive edge. I know you said you don't worry about Chelski, but I think they will be your biggest obstacle to the League (unless Citeh gets beaten in the first knockout round of the CL) this season. Arsenal - as much as I like their style - just don't have the spine to win it (going back to losing Viera), United are a complete joke, and as you and DC9 says, Spurs will be Spurs. Chelski though, are like you and don't have Europe. Now they don't have the League Cup. I think they stay close (but eff-up in the end as their defense is horrible). Do well this weekend - you don't need luck.
  5. Imagine those poor supporters that need to watch that crap every week. Looking forward to seeing Pool outside of England next year - they will certainly be one of the fun sides to watch. Keep it up. Also, what do you think Klopp will do about the FA Cup? I see a realistic path to the Finals in the League Cup, even with the 'second' team as these guys seem desperate to show their stuff and they can play. Do you think he will attack the FA Cup in the same manner, use a full first time, or maybe a hybrid of both? Do you think their place in the table will affect his decision, especially if they are in first (or very close) in early Spring? By the way, Coutino's goal the other day was sweet as well. If I can remember correctly, he's scored once or twice like that (cutting in and then going near post) earlier this season. Almost impossible to stop. Lastly, just curious if DC9 found any more info about mid-Virginia soccer for the kids? Hope this season is going well for them. Can't blame you a bit. Would be like if John Riggins was playing one last season for the Birningham Tigers in the English American-Football League. We'd have to root for him, even over your local team. Always support the legend.
  6. The Bayern vs Ausburg match wasn't that great to watch, but the goals were well worth watching:
  7. and Julian Green scores on a wonderful header to put Bayern in the lead, 2-0. Nice couple days for US internationals in the Pokal.
  8. In US player news, Bobby Wood scored two goals in Hamburg's 4-0 DFB Pokal (League Cup) match yesterday and Wood's fellow U.S. international Fabian Johnson was also on the scoresheet as Borussia Monchengladbach beat Stuttgart 2-0.: http://www.espnfc.us/german-dfb-pokal/story/2981235/bayer-leverkusen-crash-out-of-dfb-pokal-to-third-tier-club-on-penalties Also, Julian Green gets the start up front for Bayern in their match vs Augsburg. Unfortunately Christian Pusilic was listed as 'injured' and may not available to play for Dortmund.
  9. If you listen closely, you can hear Mou asking "What are those fellas in the white/black shirts doing?"
  10. UMd men's soccer completed an undefeated (and untied) home season, defeating Delaware 3-2 in overtime. First perfect home record since 2005: http://www.umterps.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=29700&ATCLID=211251493 COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Sophomore Gordon Wild netted a hat trick to lead the No. 1 Maryland men’s soccer team to a 3-2 double overtime victory over Delaware Tuesday night. Wild – who is second nationally in goals scored with 14 – scored the game-winner, his sixth of the year, in the 107th minute to give Maryland (14-0-2, 6-0-1 B1G) its 11thstraight win. The Terps have not lost since falling to Ohio State in Columbus on Oct. 31, 2015 – a stretch of 21-consecutive matches. With the win, Maryland wrapped up its first perfect home regular season (11-0) since 2005, when it captured the national championship.<rest at link> Bold emphasis is mine. Hope for a repeat this year. Go Terps!!!
  11. Per Wash Post, DC United playoff match vs Montreal will be blacked out in the DC area (unless you want to watch on WMDO - Spanish station): https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/soccer-insider/wp/2016/10/25/montreal-mystery-will-didier-drogba-return-to-face-d-c-united-in-mls-playoffs/ ******************** In hopes of boosting ticket sales, United has decided not to show the playoff on its local affiliate. Instead, it will appear only on UniMas, a national Spanish-language platform that is contracted to show all four first-round games. In the Washington area, WMDO Channel 22 is the UniMas affiliate. UniMas is also available on most cable and satellite carriers. Its MLS matches come with English commentary through secondary audio programming (SAP). United says subscribers to MLS Live, the digital pay service, will not confront a local blackout. In the regular season, 24 United matches appeared on Sinclair-owned NewsChannel 8 or WJLA-7, the other 10 on national platforms (ESPN, ESPN2, FS1 or UniMas). Those local broadcasts were also fed to Sinclair stations in Baltimore, Richmond, Norfolk and Roanoke. “We are encouraging people to come out and support the team during the playoffs,” the club said of its playoff decision. FS1 (Seattle vs. Kansas City) and ESPN2 (Toronto vs. Philadelphia) will carry one first-round match apiece. All games in the subsequent rounds are available on ESPN or FS1. The Fox national network will carry MLS Cup on Dec. 10. … Jair Marrufo has been named the referee for the United-Impact match. … The game-time weather forecast calls for 61 degrees and likelihood of rain. … So, for everyone who has supported the team, but either can't (or don't want) to come out in the cold rain, DCU now just tells us too bad, can't watch our product. Sucks as I really wanted to watch the match.
  12. It would be hilarious if it was just some guy who got 'lucky' and went home with a chick. Next he comes back for free wings. Would be a win-win.
  13. Looks to me like NE beat Montreal 3-0, so DCU holds the home game vs Montreal on 10/27 @ 7:30 PM. Please let me know if I"m wrong (I know, it would be a first)
  14. Braves - thanks so much for keeping us up to date with Terps info. You are the MAN!!!!
  15. NIce to see the coach being so enthusiastic: http://maryland.247sports.com/Bolt/Watch-Terps-Celebrate-MSU-Victory-48453261 It didn’t matter that Michigan State had lost four games in a row. It didn’t matter that the Terps had a two game losing streak of their own. Ahead of Saturday night’s showdown under the lights at Maryland Stadium, DJ Durkin’s message to his team was simple: go have fun and enjoy playing a Big Ten power like the Spartans on national TV. The message was well-received. The players came out with energy and appeared loose, especially after the coaching staff dialed up a few trick plays to have a little fun themselves. Afterwards, the celebration carried over to the locker room. Here’s the scene:
  16. Agree with that regarding Pep. You will remember I even posted that Bayern wouldn't win the UCL under Pep with how he played. For any US (or just Pusilic) fan, if you get a chance to watch the replay of the second half of Saturday's Dortmund vs Ingolstat match, you really should take the 48 or so minutes to watch. Great, back and forth half of soccer, but Pusilic just played so well coming in as a sub (was given 9/10 post match). He plays WAY beyond his years.
  17. I was just having a bit of fun with you boys. Like the EPL is getting better about playing more attacking/possession games, the BL is becoming much more competitive. Just ask Bayern (Frankfurt), Dortmund (Leipzig/Ingolstat), and Kusen (Hoffenheim). Games are good to watch and not so many weekends off. Makes the leagues that more interesting week in and week out. And horriffic defending on that Pedro goal.
  18. Don't forget that Terrance Boyd, Timmy Chandler, Aron Jóhannsson, and Fabian Johnson are all playing in BL. Chandler was all over Bayern Munich a couple weeks ago and Johnson did a good job against Bayern yesterday. It is good to see these guys getting starting type minutes in a good league. Bodes well for the future.
  19. Man, that really bums me out. I think he was a special player and would be a very good pro. Hope he gets a full recovery. I would have 'liked' it, but can't like news about the injury. Thanks for the update, though. On a good note, UMd Men's soccer continued their great season by winning on Senior night, 2-1 vs Hofstra: http://www.umterps.com/liveStats/v2/soccer/index.dbml?GAME_STAT_ID=2886667&db_oem_id=29700
  20. Ho Hum, just another police officer saving a life: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/10/21/dashcam-video-shows-texas-officer-helping-boy-who-had-seizure.html A Texas police was honored Tuesday for going out of his way to help save a 3-year-old boy’s life. Granbury police say Officer Chase Miller was scanning his radio’s EMS channel on Oct. 12 when he heard a dispatcher call for paramedics to respond to a call about a toddler who had stopped breathing. Police said Miller realized he was near the location and immediately responded. Video from Miller’s dashcam shows him performing CPR on the boy until he resumed breathing. The boy’s parents told the officer he had suffered a fever-induced seizure. He was later taken to the hospital. <rest at link> Good job, Officer.
  21. <pic that shows UMD with 18 Big Ten Titles from above> They can add #19 as the Terps mens soccer team has clinched at least a tie for the regular season title: http://www.umterps.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=211229398&DB_OEM_ID=29700 Senior night tonight. Will lock it up all to themselves on October 30 vs Michigan. Go Terps!!!
  22. We now have a duck hero: https://www.yahoo.com/gma/airplane-passengers-fall-love-emotional-support-duck-accompanying-192315632--abc-news-topstories.html Airplane Passengers Fall in Love With Emotional Support Duck Accompanying Owner With PTSD Meet Daniel Turducken Stinkerbutt, aka Daniel the Duck. He's an emotional support animal for 37-year-old Carla Fitzgerald, who has been battling post-traumatic stress disorder ever since a bad accident in 2013. Daniel rose to fame this weekend when he accompanied Fitzgerald on two airplane flights — one from her hometown of Milwaukee to Charlotte, North Carolina, and one from Charlotte to Asheville, North Carolina. "Everyone just took notice of him and fell in love," she said. "I mean, he's an adorable, funny and sweet little guy. He was very well behaved at the airport and during the flight. "I think his little red shoes and Captain America diaper were also really well received," Fitzgerald added with a laugh. <more at link>
  23. That was very hard to watch. Unfortunately it is just how I thought the "Not so Special One" would play. Stifle all kinds of attack and try to win with a lucky goal. If not, just keep it 0-0. Try to win at home (he only knows how to play ultra defensive and advance on 1=0 at home, can't change tactics to league play). I said it earlier, but this is one of the 25 or so matches where EPL sides park the bus. Just the way the EPL goes no adays (and no offense to Pool, Arsenal, and maybe one other) who just play crap defensive soccer to get their point and try to survive. Mou doesn't know any other way to play. No offense, but if you want those type of players to run into those spaces, you need to get several different players. Also, just WTF is that ball going?
  24. Prayers and good thoughts to everyone affected by Breast Cancer.  Best wishes and hope for a full recovery.
