  1. Team-ups are just awesome, and really liking the Power Man/Iron Fist vibe (which I recall fondly from the Mary Jo Duffy and Kerry Gammill run on that title). But yeah, growing up The Defenders were (in the Hulkster's own idiom) "Bird Man," "Girl," "Magician," et. al.
  2. I've enjoyed the Sweet Baby Java so far, but I am a sucker for beers with coffee
  3. Can't wait to hear this. I actually think Kendrick achieved royalty status with To Pimp a Butterfly, which is still pretty jaw-dropping, ambitious, etc. No disrespect to GKMC, which was a righteous debut.
  4. Jumbo: okay, if we're riffing on what LMD now stands for, what about the full SHIELD acronym? I'll start with . . . Surrealist Hellscape?

  6. Completely agreed here, and some version of this same epithet/bad explanation has been a regular feature of American politics since at least the late 19th century. It's a surefire galvanizer, along with its parent "big government," and its cousins "pointy-headed liberals" and "Washington insiders."
  7. https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/amendmentxxv Section IV, please. Tonight one federal judge has already correctly characterized Trump as acting contrary to the Constitution. So much wrong in EIGHT FREAKING DAYS. The evacuation of the diplomatic corps (placing American civil servants around the world at risk), the contempt for government workers generally, the Russia entanglements, the manifold emoluments violations, and now this flagrant, piggish inhumanity. Anyone want to bet that this clown has never even read the Constitution?
  8. Surely it couldn't be the fault of naive centrists and conservatives who convinced themselves Trump would pivot. Or that these sentiments could even *be* excused by the pitiful notion that it's "just campaign talk." What a crock. Oh, and back to the ban, there's this: http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/countries-where-trump-does-business-are-not-hit-by-new-travel-restrictions/ar-AAmm8cf?li=BBnb7Kz&ocid=mailsignout
  9. I just want to echo *very strongly* a point that SHF made. American Muslims and Muslims around the world are constantly, *constantly* engaging in outreach, fellowship, education, charity, and more. If the so-called liberal media doesn't cover it beyond a soundbite, because it's too busy soaking up the ratings that our anti-Constitutional POTUS gave them, that doesn't mean it's not happening. Look to other sources than big international news corps and it's not hard to find abundant evidence of this. In fact, our Muslim sisters and brothers have been ridiculously tolerant of suspicious non-Muslims from where I'm sitting. I do hope (he wrote, knowing it won't be happen because the GOP has no spine and no commitment other than rhetorical to the actual Constitution) that Congress remembers that this ban is actually against the law (in addition to being manifestly against principle and tradition). Shame, shame, shame on anyone who stoops to condone this vile decision. As if this is the only way to think and act responsibly about "terrorism."
  10. Dr. Strange exceeded my already high expectations. Vaulted immediately into my top 3 Marvel flicks. If at all possible, treat yourself to IMAX 3D!
  11. Bang, preach it, brother. They've basically introduced Heroes for Hire as a quartet, and started calling them The Defenders. As a fanboy, I'm still over the moon about all this killer Marvel TV. But your Defenders are my Defenders.
  12. Totally agreed, SM. I'm really excited to see what the Dr. Strange movie turns out to be, but Cumberbatch seems like spot-on casting. But I hear you re. the FF. Marvel's First Family deserves way better.
  13. I finally got around to seeing BvS, and oof, that was tough sledding. I really, really hope that DC can get it together at some point.
  14. Very sad news that the great Darwyn Cooke - known for his many contributions to DC Comics in particular - has passed away. RIP.
  15. As a lifelong comics fan, I keep sticking with these CW shows. But the more I watch them, the more it seems like it's basically Nashville with different costumes and some time travel and stuff.
  16. The Strange preview looks so hot. Also excited to hear that two key members of the Netflix DD team are going to be heading up production of The Defenders. Too bad it can't more closely approximate the Defenders comics themselves, but these shows are so good I won't be picky.
  17. T'Challa is so awesome, and the scenes from the preview look ridiculously cool. I'm fine with Boseman, though I was really hoping they could have done a flick 5-7 years ago with Idris Elba starring. And I'm really stoked to see what Ta-Nehisi Coates is going to do with the character. Going to be must reading for sure.
  18. Not to mention the wide world of sours, wilds, etc. Lambics age easily for decades.
  19. FF movie was at 8% on Rotten Tomatoes this morning. Oof.
  20. Spot on, Gamebreaker. The new FF movie looks straight up cheap, with 2003 Hulk effects. That bad. I mean, Ant Man went to the freaking microverse and the Thing throws a tank and it implodes/vaporizes on impact? Ugh. Please, please, please let the rights revert to Marvel!
