  1. True, per player/individual, but hockey is a lot more demanding on the body then basketball. Not saying basketball isn't physical, but hockey is like football on skates, with no stop in play. But the top guys play 25+ minutes on the ice. Like I said, I'm glad they did away with the 4 in 5. Back to back spread out is not that bad. Cal Ripken is laughing at every NBA player who needs a rest. Playing hockey requires short bursts of energy. The pressure they exert on their lower bodies is akin to running and jumping. I agree, not sure why rest is so important now. My guess is that benches have shortened over the years and teams play their superstars more during a game then they probably should. The creation of the super-teams requires a less expensive and shorter bench to pay all those stars. Maybe instead of going "balls to the wall" to achieve 70 wins, sacrifice some minutes during games knowing you might lose a few more and end up with 60 wins instead.
  2. I've never gotten this "rest" thing. You are paid to play 82 games. Hockey players play just as many games (even more grueling and tough) and they never "rest" players. That's what the offseason is for. Back to back nights are not and should not be a problem. There are only so many dates to schedule games in arenas where there is a hockey team playing there, other events (concerts, wrestling, etc.) and in some cases, a third team (L.A.). I did have a problem with 4 in 5 nights. That was too much. I agree that that should have been changed. Rest? Ha-ha. These guys are supposedly world class athletes. Get your 25 year old ass out there and play if you are 100%. Unless you are 38+ years old and have given your all to the game (i.e. Tim Duncan), get your ass out there and play.
  3. Hope you caught the sarcasm in my post. I think you did with the Smiley face at the end.
  4. It's great the Turd-geon can recruit like he did with the twins, but he can't coach worth a crap in game situations, so getting good players does us no good. Plus, you have to do that all the time, every year with the one and done players to match the Kentucky's and Duke's of the world. The old Cole looks great. Again, love the recruiting for football, but it's time to show it on the field.
  5. Eh, I don't take it that seriously one way or the other. It's just something to watch. Kind of like a soap opera for athletes. I get a kick out of it, but I don't fret over it. It's just "entertainment" to me, hence the "E" in WWE. You can watch it and pretty much know who will win about 5 minutes into the match. But something about Brock Lesnar irritates me. I think he's a gump. He doesn't really bring anything worth watching to me. From his "advocate" thing to his "Jimmy Johns" F5 walking billboard shirt, he seems out of place with all the other actors...er' wrestlers.
  6. Not a big fan of Brock Lesnar being the champion. He's too "part-time" to have an effect for me, although the Samoa Joe thing might be the boost it needed. Otherwise, if he's not going to be around much, I'd rather have a regular hold the belt.
  7. last 2 games- 6 points for. 121 points against. That's disgusting.
  8. Well, we used this as an excuse last year (first game), but I saw many non top 25 teams blow out their opponents on opening night. We have the talent, the coaching sucks. He doesn't prepare them correctly and hasn't corrected flaws the team had last year. Time will tell. I have zero expectations for them to do much this year. They'll win 20, but won't do much after that.
  9. Well, that was a sad, pathetic, terrible, horrible, crappy effort against a team that was 12-19 the year before. Same problems as last year. Can't hit a damn jump shot to save our lives and tons of turnovers. Going to be another long year for this team. You can't beat American by only 6 points and expect to compete. Turgeon's ass needs to be on the hot seat. Bull**** effort. That's coaching.
  10. Bigs don't matter. We still can't hit outside shots. I see nothing has changed from that standpoint from last year. If we can't hit from the outside, it renders our inside game useless.
  11. From all indications, yes, we will be wearing throwbacks. I like our throwbacks. Not sure why some of our fans don't like them. I know using the current helmet doesn't match. I think their better than the Green Bay "bullseye" throwbacks, the Jets "not your colors" combo or the Steelers "Bumblebee-Jailbird" throwbacks. Wish they would allow teams to get fitted for 2 helmets a year. Not sure why it has to be only one from the league (stupid Goodell). Technically the QBs and MLBs that wear the speaker in their helmet have backup helmets on the sidelines. I've never understood the one helmet thing (other than the league doing a CYA). If you wear a specific "model and size" and are fitted for your specific helmet, why can't you get fitted for a 2nd one that will have the same specifications as the first one? Stupid NFL.
  12. It all starts at the top= Leonsis holding on to Ernie. The team is poorly constructed and what does the team expect out of the fans when you are the only team in the NBA that hasn't won 50 games in a season since 1979? The mere fact that I still call them "my team" should elicit a standing ovation from Ted and Ernie to fans like you and me. I could have ditched this dumpster fire years ago. But to a fault, I've always been loyal to my teams. So instead of rooting for another team, I just don't show as much interest and it's apparent other fans feel the same way. Time to go on a "Grunion" run and run his ass out of town.
  13. I'm at the point where I know this team will never be good enough to win a championship in my lifetime. After years of watching them under Abe Pollin and him be so loyal to his cronies, I really thought Ted would be a breath of fresh air. But it looks like he's doing exactly what Abe did. Just sell/relocate the team to Las Vegas. They are just an annual embarrassment to the league year in and year out.
  14. See you next year Jack (ass). We play the Raiduhs in DC I believe.
  15. They can use the same helmet. Take the stripes off and put new face masks on. Same helmets.
  16. Well, at least I have my Memphis Tigers to watch. While MD was getting thumped 59-3, Memphis was thumping SMU 51-7.
  17. Tottenham sure seems to love draws. I guess better than a loss. Still the only unbeaten team in BPL. Liverpool killed it today and are playing real well for you guys this year. Going to be a dogfight all year. Spurs need to get some wins and not all these damn ties. Everyone getting 3 and we're only getting 1.
  18. I realize Wall had surgery on both knees, but a pro needs rest 5 games in? Probably the trainer's/doctor's call, but damn.
  19. 59-3. I hope all the recruits that they've raved about for next year pan out, because this team looks no better than last year.
  20. ^^ it will be worse than that with this loser team.
