  1. No, you don’t seem to understand. We had Logan Thomas, Cole Turner, Bates and some random UDFAs, we were all set at TE, so no need to try and upgrade at all. Also, all of those stud TEs in the draft only play one position. We drafted guys who can be mediocre at multiple positions on the oline. Position flex!
  2. I’m rooting for SF to win it all this year- get Peters his 4th ring, on his third team. Watching the Niners LBs run around and I can’t wait for the guys he brings in to our team.
  3. Yup. His running ability is phenomenal and if they draft him and then don’t have a plan to utilize it I would be furious.
  4. I listened to Daniel Jeremiah and since Daniels had way better tape than Maye this year that’s why he has it that way. But he liked 2022 Maye better than 2022 Daniels. And he is concerned with Daniels bodyweight and the potential hits he would take. Daniels highlights remind me of RG3,who I loved, and I remember telling anyone who would listen I wanted us to draft him back in November watching college football at that time. I honestly trust Peters and whichever HC we get to make the right decision for their scheme and for the team on who to take. Could easily be Daniels. Could be Maye. I wouldn’t even be shocked or dismayed if they tried to trade down to 5 or 6 and take Bo Nix, or JJ. The important thing is they get the guy they want (coach and GM) without the owner pulling the strings. If it fails, try again in a few years.
  5. Agree and I think he will be better in a defense where he can just run to the ball and not think as much.
  6. Just curious- since its almost a certainty we draft a QB at 2 (or trade down and draft one) or even take a QB later, what are your thoughts on a rookie QB starting immediately vs sitting? Any issue with Howell starting the season if he’s outperforming rookie? Trust the coach? Or is it a deal where even if rookie is a little behind it’s worth him starting to gain experience, especially since we don’t anticipate a playoff caliber team next year anyway? I would have no issue if Howell starts over rookie but also would be fine if rookie starts, even if he struggles initially.
  7. Agree. It’s such dumb take. Why would a rebuilding team spend huge money on a QB? Also, we don’t even have a HC so how could Kirk possibly know if he wants to play here or not?
  8. So dismissive. You’re right, Brandon Staley had the number one defense. We should totally hire him as a HC. Oh that’s right, he sucked ass as a HC. It’s almost as if other factors like personality, ability to relate to people, communication, leadership might make for a good HC… My preference is an offensive minded head coach for reasons we already discussed but Morris worked under Shannahan on the offensive side with the Falcons. Both Shanny and McVay vouch for the guy. Players too. We could do A LOT worse.
  9. Also, there were some football toughness questions out there about Gonzalez. The more annoying thing is that Rivera always locked on to a position and then took their favorite guy at that position instead of a higher rated player.
  10. Yeah I think if we want a starting OT we probably have to trade back up into the first. Not sure if it’s worth it or if you just take interior line like a center in the 3rd. Can’t fix it all.
  11. What’s done is done. At least now we are on a good path. Assuming 50% hit rate in our picks and some big FA, UDFA hits I would think a rebuild should take 2 full seasons.
  12. Yeah, there is so much time before the draft. Senior bowl, Combine, etc. And we don’t even know who our coach is or what offense we are going to run. And it wouldn’t be my preference but they may decide they like Penix or Bo Nix or something. Peters probably drafted the greatest 7th round QB of all time, so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. And before any one says it, I’m pretty sure Trey Lance was Lynch/Shannahan. Like you, I’ll obviously trust and support the FO’s choice.
  13. I’d like to see us grab a good pass catching back/WR that can take on some of Curtis did well for us last year. I’m not sure it’s worth paying him. Any favorites?
  14. Folks will think I’m insane but I think Raheem Morris would be an excellent HC. Cooley always spoke highly of him and compared him to Sean McVay as far as his intelligence and leadership.
  15. thanks for sharing. I agree he seems smart and confident. He also reminds me of RG3, in that I’m not sure how much of it is actually real.
  16. I do find it interesting that with both Maye and Daniels you can find many articles talking about their work ethic, how much coaches/players like them etc. I haven’t read the same for Williams. Doesn’t mean he isn’t a great leader or a hard worker, but I just find it interesting. Maybe once he declares Lincoln Riley starts talking him up. But it’s curious.
  17. No. He develops both the rookie and Howell. Howell probably ends up as a quality backup like Colt McCoy or if he improves a lot a potential trade chip next year or comp pick when he leaves in FA.
  18. Yeah. I know it’s weird, but we aren’t the **** team anymore that has to overpay or used as leverage. We are easily the best or second best spot for a GM to come to.
  19. We have so few guys under contract and none under bad contracts we need to get out from under. We have tons of cap space. I think we go HAM in FA, not necessarily lots of big money guys (maybe one big money pass rusher) but lots of players in general to fill spots and compete with all the rookie draft pick and UDFAs we bring in. I think we bring in way more UDFAs this year also. This should be the biggest roster turnover we’ve seen in a long time.
  20. Absolutely. And he’s 21 years old. His family are all giants so it’s possible he grows another inch and easily will put on weight, unlike some of these 23 year olds.
  21. Tough to keep and attract top UDFA when you keep every single draft pick, to prove how smart you are. This will change with a new FO, I expect.
  22. With the Seahawks opening, I’m hoping Quinn decides to come home and be their HC. It would weaken Dallas, and I think Seattle could be good again, if they find a QB. I’m really hoping we can get Peters as GM and Ben “Tar Heel” Johnson as HC. Johnson could coach his favorite UNC QBs; turning Drake Maye into our franchise player and earning Howell a nice pay day as a veteran starter somewhere in 2026.
  23. Agree. Guys with real OT traits (not short armed ROT/OG tweeners who are almost certainly guards) are going to go fast; we might get lucky and one lasts to the second but not a certainty.
