  1. I really think we are waiting to see what expensive veteran guard gets cut and if we can get them on a one year prove it deal. I just don’t think Chris Paul or Charles has shown enough to be confident they start at LG with no challenge.
  2. We could be in the same boat next year, with Kendall Fuller (still young and average starting CB should get some $) Chase Young, Montez Sweat, and the other D ends. Another reason to wait in FA, as I believe the later FA signings after the draft don’t count towards comp picks.
  3. I agree with your assessment. I’m just hoping that we aren’t finished at oline, and that in the next few months we end up signing a quality FA at OG that gets cut. Not a guy with position flex, but an actual starter quality NFL OG.
  4. It’s interesting to consider. He’s not old, and he’s still playing well. His contract isn’t great, but it’s not bad starting CB money. My guess is we keep him in case of injury but potentially trade him in season if Forbes is developing like we expect. I’m not sure we can just expect Forbes to immediately be our CB1. It might depend on how Forbes and BSJ look this summer. I think it’s more likely we cut Chase Roullier and then use some of that money to sign a DE or LB. Depends on what they think of Logan Thomas. They seem to still have faith in him as our TE1. And we have a lot of young athletic players at TE we are developing. I would guess not.
  5. I hope we pounce on some of these cuts. Have to imagine someone who drafted a guard high will try and get cheaper and cut a young veteran who is good but overpaid. I would be looking at guards and LBs. LBs are cheap and I would like another veteran in there. I could also see another DE on a short term deal so we actually have some players under contract for 2024. https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-cut-candidates-all-32-nfl-teams-joe-mixon-kenny-golladay-frank-clark-2023 Some guard option to compete with the young players we have (who have shown nothing) would be prudent.
  6. My guess was that EB liked some of the QBs, Rivera told him to wait a year and he can draft a guy he likes next year. If the season goes well, Rivera transitions to a FO role for his last year and retires off into the sunset with EB as the new head coach.
  7. I’m a little surprised Andre Carter from Army is still available. Big body and had some good performances in 2021.
  8. He’s gotta be for ST and maybe short yardage/ FB right? Right?
  9. Yeah, we will see how the rest plays out but depth of CB class evident and still some nice players there. RB is wide open
  10. Smoot talked up Carter Warren, said he was a 1sr round talent but got hurt. Anyone evaluate him at all?
  11. Braeden Daniels has size and position flex, started a lot of games. Seems to fit what we want at OL. Will Mallory at TE.
  12. This is a must watch. I learned a ton from it, really good analysis.
  13. Super productive? Yes. What about athleticism? Yep. Not a huge guy but not small at 6’3 245. A lot to like there. https://www.nfl.com/prospects/sam-laporta/32004c41-5064-0235-3970-b5e5514839fc
  14. Jury still out on Cosmi, I thought he’s looked ok and Mathis played one snap. But yeah that list is horrible.
  15. Listening to Paulson, he said that Gonzalez poor take against Georgia was a big factor for why they preferred Forbes. They value high level competition, lots of college experience, team captains/high character guys. I don’t see Mauch as a fit because of the low level competition. I think they would prefer a guy like Steen. Keim has mentioned Musgrave repeatedly, so they must like him. He’s never talked about Washington, which sort of surprised me because he’s got real upside and can contribute as a blocker right away. Torrence doesn’t give the position flex they like, I wonder if that’s a factor compared to Avila or Tippman. Not going to talk about Branch or Bergeron, assuming they are gone.
  16. Yeah, I assumed he’s off our board with the canceled visit. Weird stuff. Folks may riot if we bypass oline but assuming Bergeron is gone, who else would be BPA there? JMS or Tippman would be ok but I think I would rather grab one of the TEs, or Keion White, Ojalari, etc. seems like the value is there. Not sure if anyone would trade but a trade down would ideal, our 3rd rounder is so late.
  17. I’d love it too but it’s wildly unrealistic, as all the draft simulators are. Branch is going well before our pick and would certainly be gone if we traded down.
  18. Any opinions on Drew Sanders? Not oline so people may be upset but he looked pretty impressive as a pass rusher and ILB. We need both.
  19. A run on DBs would be nice. Let’s see what oline are left. I agree TE also would be nice here. Washington would seem to fit our type and could help as a blocker immediately.
  20. We actually are set up really well for Day 2. A lot of quality players at DE, TE, C, OG/OT. Mauch, Bergeron, JMS, Keon White, etc.
  21. You have to hope it wasn’t a PR move, but it could have been. I think as it gets closer scouts get nervous that their favorite guys get picked. So they accidentally telegraph their interest to media folks when they talk to them by asking questions “where do you think x goes?” I’m interested how the rest of the draft falls and who we pick 2-7.
  22. I actually don’t mind Avila in the second, depending on who is there. I think he’s a great OG in a weak OG class. I really didn’t want Torrence in the first. Big Thanos is way better, but he must have told the coaches in meetings that he eats babies or something.
  23. I’m really interested in the OTs and pass rushers now. Have to really hit BPA now, at any position. TE, RB, OT, C/G, DE, S, really anything but CB1. Even a slot corner could be BPA. I bet we are targeting Bergeron, Mauch, Tippman.
