  1. Agree. Guys with real OT traits (not short armed ROT/OG tweeners who are almost certainly guards) are going to go fast; we might get lucky and one lasts to the second but not a certainty.
  2. Aside from Bowers, who are some of the best TEs? We need help at TE desperately next year; I think it’s a lock we draft one.
  3. Fixed it. Who knows how we and other teams will have them stacked after combine. I could see Jayden or Drake going 1 if they ran crazy at combine, showed off sick arm, Jayden weighs 215-220, etc.
  4. Yup. Keep the Giants from getting a franchise QB or MHJ. Let them wander in QB purgatory for a few more years and have a new coaching staff and GM in a few years.
  5. I think all resources should be focused on developing the player and designing and implementing an offense that allows our rookie QB (whoever it is) to be successful. The rest really doesn’t matter that much to me, whether a veteran QB, Howell, etc. is on the roster, so I agree.
  6. Probably the most likely scenario is that our new OC will want a veteran who is familiar with his scheme to come in and help with install, mentoring, etc. I just don’t see why the Sam Howell hate is necessary. He’s young, cheap, showed promise, and won’t be a distraction in the locker room. He’s a good dude, and he didn’t play well the end of the year. I don’t think he sucks, and why should we assume he won’t get better in a new offense with new coaches? I don’t think he’s going to be some destabilizing force that we have to jettison. That’s all I’m saying. And I am not convinced there are really great FA vet QB options that I would like. Jacoby is not going to come back here, IMO, and who knows if he is even a scheme fit.
  7. I’ve watched a lot of UW games. That is a fantastic offense with legit WRs and the best coach in college football. Penix’s arm is not in Williams class. Not saying he’s a bad player, I like him and respect what he’s done but his upside is not high enough for me to draft him that high. I do think he will be a starting QB if he stays healthy, but I want all pro potential.
  8. Yeah we want the Giants to stay in QB purgatory. Could get their coach fired next season too.
  9. Take a look at the list of FA QBs. Assuming we draft a QB at 2, why would they want to come here, and which one is worth 3-8 million when Howell costs next to nothing, has shown promise, has been in the NFL for two years, and has a personal relationship with Drake Maye. Don’t want to hijack the thread, so I’ll stop responding.
  10. A couple of things: 1. Howell costs much less than a veteran backup in FA and Jacoby isn’t coming back here. 2. Howell won’t net anything significant in a trade so why get rid of him for nothing? He’s not bad. He still has potential to grow. 3. It’s not so much that a care who Howell is friends with, but I do want my rookie franchise QB set up for success. I believe coming into a new city, job, offense, etc. there would be at least some tangential benefit to a familiar face, especially when it’s a mentor you have known since you were 18 years old, if Drake Maye is the pick.
  11. I’m not sure why you would want/need to trade Howell. I don’t think you would get a decent draft pick, and Howell and Maye have been friends since Drake was in HS. That would be a good QB room for two years.
  12. You Will Never Look At the NFL Draft the Same Way Great video on YouTube regarding present vs future value bias and why NFL teams make poor decisions.
  13. How much better is Caleb Williams as a prospect than Drake Maye? How much positive/negative value do you place with the two unique situations for each player if they came to Washington? I think having Sam here is a huge advantage to Drake, from acclimating to the league, having a familiar face and friend, and is a tremendous advantage to the QB room. Caleb being from DC is cool, but I think it’s actually terrible. Tons of people/friends in their 20’s coming out of the woodwork looking to party with a NFL player, searching for handouts/investments, tons of distractions, etc. I may be overthinking it but I can imagine a multitude of different ways he fails here just based on coming back to your hometown. Am I just being overly pessimistic? Chase Young and Haskins both failed here but Jon Allen hasn’t had any issue.
  14. I think trading the two twos for a 1 to get our OT makes a ton of sense. That fifth year option is a big factor and they will go quick.
  15. It could happen that way. Or, after we trade down to 4, Bears trade the 3rd pick to the Giants or some other team to take the QB we liked. Then we are stuck with no MHJ, and no QB. I don’t think we can be cute.
  16. Did he bang your girl or something? 😂 I don’t think anyone was hyping him up now that we have pick 2 or 3.
  17. Wohler DB from Wisconsin making some plays in this bowl game!
  18. 100% true. Successful people/orgs make their own “luck” by working harder than others, being better at what they do, and constantly looking for ways to improve. SF traded up for a QB who busts and they are still dominant because they are hitting on other picks, trades, elite coaching etc.
  19. I’m laughing like a Bond villain. An Eagles loss! A Cardinals win! Haha!
  20. I think QB in particular will fare better . Guys playing for a few years and transferring and becoming better players. Bo Nix, Daniels, and Penix are all guys who really benefited and grew as players.
  21. Please correct me if I’m mistaken, but I believe he still will be paid by Denver his guaranteed money still owed, even if he’s cut. Anything he signs for would be deducted from what they owe, so he can sign for as little as he wants and depending on how it’s structured would still get 10 mil from Denver. Remember, he signed an extension and he gets all the guarantees even if cut. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/denver-broncos/russell-wilson-9885/
  22. Not a bad scenario, even if we don’t win another game. I’ll support the new GM and coaching staff. If they don’t love one of the QBs, don’t force it. That said, I think we should take a QB with our first rounder.
