  1. Personally I’d go with the rookie option with Taylor Heinicke as the stop gap again, and no I’m not a Heinicke enthusiast. But he knows the system and I think / hope / pray he’s better with another offseason under his belt. I’d like to think he could beat out Bridgewater or any other veteran who doesn’t know the system. I just hate the thought of depending on the likes of Mariota to actually win football games next year pretending he’s something he’s shown he’s not. I’d rather let Taylor get the game reps. Sounds like flawed logic tho, I know…
  2. Worst coaching of the year by both head coaches. Just run a QB sneak, and Dallas calls a QB draw!? What the hell?🤨
  3. His numbers say otherwise… when used correctly he was a complete difference maker and reminiscent of Jamaal Adam’s game. He’s never been a deep half safety and that was his knock in NY, but when used around the line of scrimmage, blitzing, covering backs out of the backfield and roaming, he’s a tackling machine.
  4. Not to derail the thread with QB play, but is it not a valid question that with a full gambit of weapons I.e. Samuel, Thomas, McKissic, D. Brown, our current QBs are good enough for us to compete? Not that we don’t need an upgrade, but we should be able to scheme and coach our way IF folks are healthy, no?
  5. Nah, let Scherrf walk. Scary Terry should be the priority this off-season as well as figuring out who stays on the dline. If Payne doesn't get extended I'd consider resigning Settle. Also, Bobby McCain needs a 2 yr extention and we should start thinking about getting Cam Kurl signed long term. I'd probably ask Landon about restructuring. Give him some bonus money and reduce his cap hit, he's a beast when used properly. Then we can try and sign a top free agent middle backer and some good linebacker depth. Oh and get something done for Andre Carter. He outplayed his contract and should be back as the return man / slot receiver for the foreseeable future. I forgot, please get McKissic signed for another 2 -3 years. Our offense fell off a cliff when he was out. I think I saw a Stat that he's the best 3rd down back in the league. He's dynamic.
  6. I say let Scherff walk. He plays at most 12 games a year and wants top tackle money. Keep that money, resign flowers and Schweitzer, draft a mid round guard and keep it moving.
  7. This is the part I can get with. Having selected a high draft while having a stopgap in house I’d completely support, maybe I missed your point previously if that was your intention. But ONLY signing a Mitch Trubisky type, a hard pass. Yeah a young thunder cat waiting in the wings, sign me up!
  8. I get trying to upgrade, in theory if we’d stayed healthy this year and had a solid starter, let’s say Ryan tannehill or maybe jimmy G, we’d be a tough team and may make a little noise if we make the playoffs, but once you face off with the Aaron Rodgers / Brady’s of the world, you lose. See Tennessee last year. They were pounding Kansas City, got up to a good lead and on queue, got rolled by Mahommes. For my remaining fandom, I want a guy I know we got a shot with. Who wants to face Burrow and the Bengals right now. No one. You’re excited if you’re a fan of the Chargers or Buffalo. You’ve got the next generation of talent. Rodgers and Brady are done in the next 2-5 years and then it’ll be the young guns turn. I want one of them. I don’t know how but I want that. And picking 12-18 doesn’t help us get there, which is my hesitancy of a Mitch Trubisky / bridgewater type.
  9. Nah not saying not try, just that the average place holder, known quantity average QB is where most teams are and are trying to find a better one. I’m with the thinking of swing for the fences until you get one or pay for one. Or keep drafting until you get one. Most here are in agreement Kirk Cousins wasn’t the answer and he’s above average, so why bring in a guy worse than him to finish 8-8. That’s all I was saying.
  10. Both also put us in a place of perpetual 8-9 or 9-8 seasons of maybe maybe not making the playoffs and getting bounced quickly when we do make a playoff. Above average QBs don’t beat the elite QBs and top teams in the playoffs without generational defenses.
  11. Is it really this bad or are we just battered and broken fans… it can’t be this bad can it?
  12. In other news, Halle Berry is still gorgeous in those Caesars commercials. Wow!
  13. Been thinking that for years, not sure why, with today's tech, they can't install cameras everywhere near the end zone and get people and the boom camera rig outta there
  14. As empty as the stadium is today, im surprised the league didn't blackout the game
  15. Too easy. Guess that means we don't score again until the fourth quarter
  16. Yeah that's a common issue with many businesses and management groups. Attrition rate and morale questionnaires rarely get the attention they need. People feel like 'you should be happy you got a job' instead of 'how can we make your job / life better?' Then those same management groups spend tons of money on the wrong stuff like Lean 6 (which can be awesome) and are baffled why their numbers are declining. Dan fits the mold of many of our managers who are clueless but swear they're the smartest person in the room, and we're all mumbling 'what a moron.'
  17. I think you're spot on Kdawg. I work for the government and our stuff is OLD. We have a bunch of smart people but when the place you work at is a dump it takes away the motivation of a lot of people, and there's just some stuff we can't do because we don't have the capability or capacity to do. And I've seen smart folks walk because they refuse to spend their time there especially when Google or a fortune 500 is waiting. For a much money as Dan has, we should have state of the art everything. Jerry Jones may meddle but he spends every penny to make the cowboys organization what it is. If you don't think players want to play in that awesome stadium or train in the best facilities on the planet, we're kidding ourselves
  18. Yeah you need the franchise QB but the best staffs make a franchise QB. The Patriots developed Brady like they're doing with Mac Jones. Look at what the Bills did with Josh Allen, Baltimore and Lamar Jackson. Cincinnati passed on a top tackle to take Jamarr Chase to give Burrow more weapons and it was the right decision. Hes on his way. Just a few examples of raw talent, nurtured the right way with systems specifically designed for them to flourish. Not many guys walk into the league like Andrew Luck. Jacksonville or should I say Meyer, was about to destroy their top pick and I think the Jets already have. If we're not innovative enough to make a system for our next QB he'll bust like the last 20 have. Once they get shell shocked they are done. I think we ruined Heinicke Sunday.
  19. I think part of the problem more recently, is our coaching staffs not being innovative to adjust to the personnel on the roster. Shanahan was the last group to do it well with RG3. That system literally changed the league. Today we're a round hole scheme with some circles, a bunch of squares, and a bunch of shapes that don't fit and the coaches can't or won't adjust. I look at Philly and think why aren't we running something like that with Heinicke and backs we have. Misdirection and downhill running with the QB. Hell, I'd take the system Rivera ran with Cam Newton. That was really inventive and took Carolina to the Superbowl. This year, it took half a season to put Landon in the box, put curl at SS, bobby at free, and realign the corners. Theyre still not blitzing consistently and I don't see twists and stunts enough. We seem to never play man, just to keep the offense guessing. Just feels like we're not adjusting to the strengths of the squad cause the coaches system should work as is, but it's not. Gruden did the same thing.
