  1. Just want to do an appreciation post for Sam Howell considering after tomorrow's game there will be a new QB1 in town. Sam has carried himself well and kept getting back up after hit after hit. He overcame a horrendous oline and questionable play calling / horrendous game management and still had his share of highlights in an otherwise ugly season. I hope we keep him on board as the backup. I think he can be a successful QB in this league, but as far as being given an opportunity to succeed, he got hosed by an incompetent staff. Hard for average Joe's like myself to imagine being in Sam's shoes for tomorrow: if he loses, he is almost certainly being replaced with our top 3 pick, and who knows when the next opportunity to be a starter will come. If he wins, he increases his chances of coming back as QB1 as we miss out on the big 3 barring an enormous trade. Huge game for him personally. But the kicker is: a majority of the fans, including ones like myself that like Howell, are rooting for him to lose. His own fans. On the NFL stage, with millions of people following. Crazy situation for a 23 year old to be in, but that's the NFL. I hope we keep Howell in the fold, but I wish him the best of luck moving forward. I wouldn't bet against him having success as a starter in this league somewhere at some point.
  2. Penix is fun to watch. That throw down the left side line was money, and then a couple plays later moving in the pocket and throwing a dart. If he has a couple good games on this stage, maybe this QB class has a big 4 and not just a big 3?!?
  3. I was a simp then. I've worked my way up to clown. Hard work pays off.
  4. I don't know about you, but I often reminisce of how great it was 4-5 years ago. I long for those days.
  5. Cheese probably taught him the playoff is the best time to try a new technique.
  6. True, looking at all the names that are out for us, and going against one of the leagues best teams, hard to imagine any QB we have looking good tomorrow. Should be a bloodbath.
  7. Rooting for a win over a good team with Howell is more of a reflection of me not wanting to give up on Howell yet, and still be able to land a top LT prospect, but I understand your premise that ideally we hire a competent GM and trust them to make the right decisions with the most valuable assets possible. I can't disagree with that.
  8. I was so pumped to move into the top 3 due to the value those picks have this year and the haul we would receive in a trade down. I used to always root to lose once we were eliminated from the playoffs to get the higher pick, but in recent years not as much, but I have been rooting for losses and a top 3 pick these past few weeks. Now I'm torn. I like Howell, and I still think he can be a good NFL QB with a better supporting cast. And I'm far from a scout, but Jayden Daniels scares me as a potential great college QB but NFL bust. Maye has fallen off too. Caleb has lost some shine, but I think taking him would be the right move. So part of me would love to see Howell come back, lead us to a win or two vs SF and Dallas, and have us heading into the off-season with Howell getting another chance next season, but having a lesser pick. I'd rather have Howell and Latham than Daniels and turnstile. I don't see Daniels, or any young QB, succeeding here anytime soon, and by the time the new QB has a legit supporting cast, everyone will have soured on the new QB, just like everyone has done with Howell after 16 starts. The other option that intrigues me is to root for the highest pick, hope they trade down and turn into the best haul of picks as possible, and draft the QB next year. But Im still not convinced that cutting bait with Howell is the best path forward.
  9. Cheeseman must have compromising information on Rivera. Why hasn't this guy been replaced yet?
  10. Only at Washington home games can you make out what individuals in the crowd are saying while watching on TV. I hope we get a home field advantage again soon.
  11. I look forward to seeing Tyreek Hill darting down the field before Ron has even gotten the play call in
  12. Their SOS would have them picking ahead of us even if they win Monday, but it would help them get closer to leaping us.
  13. Agreed, along with Alt and best defensive player on the board.
  14. ^^^ Tell Mason to hit refresh in about 30 seconds.
  15. The cost of paying the old regime and the new regime will not matter at all. Harris just spent 6.05 billion on this team, and he knows investing in the right people is the best way for ROI.
  16. I find it hard to believe Ron isn't 100% certain he is done at the end of the year. If anything, I'd guess this is just an attempt to not have a locker room that has completely given up. Show them that he will make moves to see if there is any improvement. But no way he thinks he has a shot to be the head coach next year, or GM, or doorman. He is done and he knows it.
  17. It will be very interesting, bc all kidding aside, does Ron have the mental capacity to be calling a defense at this stage? The knock on him has been slow to adjust, late to challenge plays, etc. Now he is going to step it up, and I don't see how he is going to be successful. Which is fine, better draft pick is ok with me. But the new drinking game will be every time the opposing offense is snapping the ball, if our defense is scrambling to get set, DRINK!
  18. We have looked awful. We are nowhere near a good team right now. However, I feel like if we improve two areas: offensive line and defensive scheme/play calling/adjustments, it would have a HUGE impact. I don't think we are as far away as it seems, and I know at this moment after these past couple games, this is not going to be a popular take. We know the coaching staff is gone, so a new defensive scheme / play caller is a given. If they nail that, and put some high draft picks and FA dollars towards the oline, I think we could potentially have a quicker turnaround than it may feel like right now. So I don't think we need the process, or a complete rebuild. Hire the right people, get a real GM to infuse some young talent, and if Howell continues to improve, we could have hope sooner rather than later.
  19. 2023 Howell is much much better than 2014 Cousins, who had more years and starts under his belt. I don't think it's outrageous to think he can be better than cousins. Hard to evaluate a QB with a horrid oline. Although our 2014 oline was pretty bad too, and when we improved the oline, cousins took off. Hopefully we see the Sam here. I'd be bummed if we spent a high pick on a QB when Sam has done well and we have so many other holes.
