  1. Bc I think they are still trying to figure out what exactly are haskins strengths. Sorry dude, I basically stole your line, didn't see it til just now. Guess we are on the same page with this one.
  2. Haskins will give us the same thing, except he will throw for 130 yards before the boneheaded interception. And he will already have 1 or 2 boneheaded plays under his belt. Haskins makes Cousins look like an all pro. FYI I realize you were debating cousins vs smith. I just have absolutely no faith in haskins.
  3. I'd be ok with that. #1 - AS. #2 - Allen to step in if AS gets hurt #3 - haskins - inactive on game days, one more season to show growth and earn another shot here. If not, bye bye. I like that we can enter the draft without feeling forced to draft a QB, which will most likely result in overpaying for a bust at the expense of filling other holes with that draft capitol. If a prospect we like is there for us to take on draft day, great, take him. I'd have no problem cutting ties with DH to groom future franchise qb, and the rookie QB can be the 3rd string / inactive / redshirt.
  4. I agree, he hasn't played all that well. I think a big part of it is protecting the football and not making boneheaded plays. Winning the field position battle. And I don't think there is any doubt that players in the huddle would be more confident with Alex smith than dwayne haskins. Probably a variety of little things that together make a huge difference, as the numbers prove.
  5. I do wonder what stafford's trade value is. He is an above average qb, no doubt, but he has an injury history, including back problems which are a big red flag. He also doesn't have a great record as a starting qb, which I know isn't all his fault, but it's not exactly a selling point either. And like we had with our own situations regarding dunbar and trent, if you are motivated to trade a player, you might have to accept a package lower than you anticipated, just to be able to move on, which detroit may choose to do with a new coach /gm. If detroit wanted a 1st for stafford, I'd tell them to go pound sand. Considering the factors I mentioned above, and his hefty cap number, detroit may have no other choice but to accept a couple day 2 picks as the best offer. I could live with that.
  6. Agreed. In 2018, redskins were 6-4 with smith as starting qb (including houston game which he didn't finish). Redskins went 1-5 the rest of the way without him. In 2019 without smith, Redskins went 3-13. In 2020, in games smith doesn't start, they are 2-6. With smith starting, they are 4-1, including at dallas and at pittsburgh. Totals: with smith: 10-5 (I'm counting houston game) Without smith: 6-24 I understand how comparing qbs by their win loss record can be misleading, but those numbers are staggering. Especially when looking at situations in 2018 and 2020, when the supporting cast / coaching staff was the same, and there was that big of a difference in winning pct, it's impossible not to give AS a lot of credit for it. We should be confident in our ability to win with him. He has proven to single handedly to be a huge difference maker, considering that's not exactly a small sample size! Imagine keeping AS and using resources to help make his supporting cast even better. Hope AS decides to come back.
  7. C'mon man, you know peterson's role with the lions has been a lot bigger than barbers role here, which would've been peterson's role had he stayed. Peterson has double the number of carries, and barber has 6 games with 3 carries or less. Your argument that peterson not complaining with his twice as large a workload in detroit means he wouldn't have complained with half the carries here makes no sense.
  8. AP would've never been content with a small role like that. He forced his way out of NO when he had that role. He wants carries and yards so he can move up the all time list. I'm a big AP fan, but I understood the move then and still feel it's the right move.
  9. If Kerrigan is requesting a trade, I hope they'd try to make it happen for his sake. Give him a shot at a ring while he can be a contributor. He has been a model Redskin, it's the least we can do for him. At least explore it.
  10. Sweat should be a contender for 1st team all pro. He has had a huge impact. If our record was better, and he was more of a household name, he might have a shot. But I have a hard time believing anyone is playing the position better right now. Consistently disruptive.
  11. Sewell is locked into my #2 preference, behind lawrence. Can't pass on lawrence, but sewell seems like a safe pick with a high ceiling at a premium position. I don't feel comfortable enough with fields or lance, wouldn't take a wr that high, and think sewell is he'd and shoulders above rest of prospects. I'd love to get an impact lb on day two, and a couple versatile d backs and good oline prospects on day 3. And we would still have a lot of holes. This team has a long way to go.
  12. I'm almost finished with Hail to the Redskins by Adam Lazarus. Great book about the 1980s. He talks about Beathard and Gibbs not seeing eye to eye on personnel. Gibbs mentality was "hey, we've got a good thing going here, let's plug some holes and make another run at it." As opposed to beathard who had more of a long term vision and wanted to build through the draft. Gibbs didn't want to develop players, he wanted veterans to win now. This article alludes to that dynamic. Bobby Beathard will resign as Washington Redskins general manager in a noon news conference today, and sources said increasing disagreement over personnel and philosophy with Coach Joe Gibbs is the overriding factor. https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/sports/1989/05/05/beathard-to-resign-as-redskins-general-manager/bb2ee04f-d9fc-422e-89ff-ed996e1a14c5/ Those Gibbs teams were consistently good, but as the core of those teams aged, there was not a younger core in place to carry the torch. So when those key contributors ran out of gas, we had very little talent. And unfortunately, due to a variety of reasons, we are still trying to right the ship. So the beginning of the end probably can be more directly pinpointed to earlier than 1993, bc the win now philosophy starting in the mid 80s put us in a hole we have never climbed out of. So my question to you all is this: would you rather have an inferior team in 87 and 91 and risk winning those titles, in exchange for a "build through the draft" and the long term approach that may have resulted in the Redskins being more competitive the last 25 years. My answer:. ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! Easy to say when the win now philosophy results in championships. And it's a common disagreement: the win now coach vs the long term minded GM. We are just very fortunate that when Gibbs pushed all the chips to the middle of the table, he was able to close the deal and win it all. Also, a more competent personnel team could've gotten the Redskins back on track fairly soon. We had premium draft picks in desmond howard, heath shuler, and michael westbrook that busted big time. Then came snyder. Enough said.
  13. No way he would make it now. You need to be top 8-10 wr, and he isn't viewed nationally as being in that tier. I expect him to be there one day soon, but not yet. Hopefully after 2020.
  14. @Jumbo I prefer the one big jumble o stuff over separate threads, as this team gets a lot of attention/drama from all different directions, a lot of it somewhat related, and not only would it be hard to navigate the multiple threads, I think you'd have a lot of repetitive posts throughout many of them regarding the state of our franchise/front office/team, and could stifle productive conversation.
  15. This tombstone conversation is the best thing I've read on this board in a month. Wow, I didn't realize that. I can't picture anybody else playing Travolta's role, and madsen is a great actor. I forget the name of the movie when he is in the water yelling "YOU'RE WRONG!!!". Another very quotable line, although I usually don't say it myself, I just picture Madsen screaming it when I'm talking to my mother in law.
  16. Kilmer was great, and Tombstone was awesome. Wyatt Earp is a decent movie too (just start the movie when they get to tombstone, forget the first hour). Dennis Quaid does a good doc Holliday too, but he didn't have nearly the one liners that kilmer did. My personal favorite for kilmer is "pardon me if I don't shake hands". In times of corona I am going to start saying that in my doc Holliday voice.
  17. The author Will Hobson said in sports center last night that there are no other related articles planned now, but that his inbox filled up yesterday. As SS pointed out, I would think there would be others who add information to the original report. I would assume one of the hardest parts of coming forward would be feeling alone and vulnerable when you make those accusations, but maybe when woman see 15 others are claiming similar mistreatment, maybe that empowers them to open up. And hopefully these women are all able to share their stories eventually without penalties from the NDA. That would obviously open the floodgates for new info.
  18. I don't understand why joe y said " too much is starting to trickle out". All we have are vague references.
  19. I agree with this, and will add I expect the term "cocaine-fueled" to be somewhere in the article. I wish we could make prop bets on this.
  20. By the end of the day, the rumor will be that Santos and Mann were the prostitutes. Hopefully this article is out by tomorrow.
