  1. I agree a 4th would be overpaying, but 49ers claim multiple teams are calling about him and I believe it. We also would need to go a round above what others offer to land him due to our history with shanny. So it might be 4th or pass, in which case pass might be our best option. Tough call. I hope skins are talking to them and to the bucs about d-jax and make a play for one of them. We need to get this passing game going, and for a midround pick when we currently have ten of them, now is not the time to sit on our hands. As far as Garcon being hurt, shanny said he can probably play Thursday. If we trade for him tomorrow, he would probably not play until Nov 11th. By then, his knee should be fine.
  2. 49ers are getting calls about Garcon and their free safety Jimmie ward. We all know what Garcon has to offer, but he is now 32 and is battling a knee issue this year after a season ending neck injury last year. But a trade would mean about a 3 mil hit this year and a 5.6 mil hit next year. Considering a healthy Garcon would instantly become our no 1 wr, it might be worth it. What would the niners want in return? Probably can't expect more than a 4th right? Jimmie ward is a free safety who also has played SS and cb. Forner first round pick and niners obviously thought enough of him to pick up 9 mil 5th year option. He would instantly provide an upgrade over Nicholson, and be used interchangebly with DJ, making our defense even tougher. I know trades are a long shot, especially 2 players for a pick, but this is the time to make a move. We are a game and a half up in the division, our rivals are struggling, we have several areas to upgrade, we have a lot of picks next year, and we can strike while the iron is hot and send a message we are ready to do what it takes to take the next step forward. At least make the phone call and offer something substantial. Only problem is I don't see shanahan wanting to help the skins out in any way. Would have to blow other offers out of the water. Anything comparable he goes in another direction. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sfchronicle.com/49ers/amp/Report-49ers-Pierre-Garcon-drawing-interest-13343077.php
  3. When you see Michael Thomas tearing it up tonight, remember we could have taken him over doctson. I even remember being linked to him in the weeks leading up to the draft. https://www.hogshaven.com/2016/3/18/11262178/report-redskins-targeting-wr-michael-thomas I know hindsight is 20 20 and all that, but man what a difference that would've been.
  4. I agree with this. I was against signing Dez for chemistry issues, but you what, if the skins come out flat vs g bay, we have got nothing to lose. There will be a lot of individuals, both coaches and players, who will have their job on the line, so what's to lose to bringing in Dez and see if he can open some things up or light a fire under some of these guys. And if it doesn't work out, Dez will be shown the door, and many others will probably be shown the door in the months after and we are starting fresh yet again. Probably worth a shot if there is another dysmal offensive performance.
  5. Exactly, seems like Perriman and Floyd were pitted against each other for one spot, with three days of practice to prove their worth. Every play counted
  6. Snyder's sending Redskins 1 to pick up Rex Grossman right now
  7. Do you think cousins would've stayed if we resigned d Jax? No way. So the cousins to D Jax connection is irrelevant. A lot of people are knocking Alex smith for all the check downs yesterday. So to say d jax production was limited last year because his quarterback couldn't get him the ball in space, but to expect that Alex Smith would go from dinking and dunking to airing it out to D jax if he were here is ironic. I'm assuming you think if d-jax was on this team yesterday, Alex Smith would have looked like a completely different QB and would have been airing it out? That's a pretty drastic assumption. Because if not, Alex Smith would still be dinking and dunking and we would be paying djax 11 mil for what? And not to get off track, but that would also kind of imply that Alex Smith bears zero responsibility for the passing game woes bc "he is only taking what the WRs are creating for him". Maybe that's true. But I don't think it makes sense for skins fans to say it's Smith fault for not attacking down field, while also saying it's the wide receivers fault for not getting open (not that you are saying that, but that seems to be the vibe here). If the wide receivers are not getting open, and Smith was forcing bad throws into coverage, that would be a lot worse than dinking and dunking. My bad, yes he was awful. but the one and only positive out of that entire situation was that they did a one-year deal and the contract didn't limit their future free agent choices.
  8. time will tell on Richardson too, and that could very well turn out to be an awful contract. He has only played 2 games and is still only 26 years old. But I don't see the reasoning in thinking Jackson's contract is a good one because it may be better than what could be an awful one.
  9. I agree that 4/126 is worth 11 mil, especially while you are opening up things for the rest of your offense even if you're not catching the ball. But that's why I said I believe this is a knee-jerk reaction, because those games aren't coming from d Jax very often these days. But it did happen yesterday so that's why everyone is praising him today. Do you believe last year's performance was worth 11 mil? No way. Like I said, I love what dJax did while he was here I just don't feel like he is going to justify that contract. Time will tell.
  10. I know, those guys they tried out today have all proven they don't belong in the NFL. I'd rather give the roster spot to an up-and-comer who may actually pan out.
  11. D Jax 50-668-3 last year at age 30/31 after getting a 3 yr 33 mil contract with 20 mil guaranteed. I think that awesome play he made on the first play of the game yesterday is making a lot of people forget he was a prime candidate to be cut in the off-season after the first year of that contract. (Take away that play and he had 3/54) He was even in concussion protocol last week. He always has an ailment, and he is only getting older. Garcon signed for 5 yrs 47.5 mil with 20 mil guaranteed. His stats were 40/500/0 TDS while missing 8 games due to injury. He is now 32 years old. I loved d Jax and Garcon and what they did as Redskins, but you referencing what they did while they were here in their prime has nothing to do with the decision you have regarding whether to pay them top of the line money for future production as they enter their 30s. How can that be sound, yet paying deion, carrier and Bruce smith for their twilight years is a constant reference for how the skins don't know how to build a winner. I am as frustrated as anyone with the game yesterday and how awful our passing game has looked thus far, but overpaying two aging receivers bc of how well they did in the past is foolish. Those contracts would have us at the point where if we wanted to resign a Crowder or a Preston smith, or give an extension to a scherff before his value soars, we wouldn't be able to bc all our cap room would have evaporated. I know the timing after a loss as bad as yesterday isn't going to make my take a popular opinion at the moment, but I don't see how you can justify bringing both of those guys back at that price at this point of their careers.
  12. I think the D Jax love is a little bit of a knee-jerk reaction. Just like how a lot of Redskins fans were ready to punch their ticket to the playoffs last week but are now calling to clean house, a lot of fans will be singing a different tune in 2 weeks when D Jax is on the shelf with another injury. The timing wasn't right to give d-jax and Garcon the money that they received. We are better off letting them walk. Garcon didn't make it through the year last year and d jax didn't do much last season. A big play or a good game here and there isn't going to change that. And over paying for older broken down wide receivers isn't the best long term answer although our wide receiver unit has a lot of room for improvement at the moment.
  13. I wonder if they sit p rich this week so he has this week and the bye week to heal and hopefully comes back following the bye in much better shape. He might be hurting more than people realize.
  14. Today's wr moves remind me of when we signed Larry Johnson, Willie Parker, and Shaun Alexander. They all offer name recognition and little else.
  15. I think week 1 was pretty close to what we envisioned our team looking like on our best case scenario. Many players played their role very well. Injuries are bound to strike, amd some players will hit inconsistent streaks, but if we look at the lineup as it is now, and assuming Preston and Crowder walk, I feel we have 6 short term needs. 1. LG 2. OLB 3. WR 4. TE, could become high priority if JR misses time 5. S 6. ILB The good thing is unlike QB and ot, I think pro bowl players are routinely found in the mid rounds for most of these positions. As far as wr goes, I think we could get a Parris Campbell or deebo Samuel on the second day and still have upgraded the position, allowing us a BPA play on Thursday night between five or six positions. So while we could pounce on aj brown if he fell to us, if there was a higher rated player at any of these other positions on the board, we could feel comfortable at addressing wr later. While it would be nice to have a stud, as long as we have balance and depth, I think this team they way it is structured would be just fine. And the reason I feel confident with our balance and depth is because of how Sims, Harris, Quinn, and Davis each have the potential to play their role well within our system. And it is way too early to talk about the draft, but it makes watching college football that much better when you envision these prospects filling holes for us.
  16. 5 if you count Davis injury in preseason. And we've only played one game. I am not a fan of getting the first bye week, but this may be a good year for it.
  17. Great news! Thanks for sharing. I figured the bands from a big storm like that would lead to rain all over the east coast. Hoping for a clear day, how demoralizing would it be if we get hit with injuries due to a sloppy field after looking so good last week, and losing to an inferior team due to a sloppy game. Hopefully sunny skies, a healthy team, and another w!
  18. I hear you on how a clear day favors the passing game, which is clearly the colts strength, but I still feel a clear day is best for the skins. The Redskins are clearly a better team than the colts, even with luck airing it out. Sloppy field conditions can lead to turnovers, slipping and missed assignments etc. Which can allow an otherwise inferior team to hang around. Of course those dynamics could go in our favor and we blow them out, but I'd rather minimize those freak occurrences and you would assume the better team would be more likely to win. Not to mention minimizing the risk of freak injuries due to a sloppy field. And after reading that latest article, I do feel much better about our wr unit. And I don't believe our new wave of second stringers is all that much worse than last week's second stringers. Be interesting to see the passing game this week against a very suspect colts secondary, weather permitting.
  19. I just saw that Harris returned to practice, and chesson was signed to the active roster. Those two actions make me feel a lot better. So it seems they will go with 5 active WRs on game day and have ladler pick up a little slack on teams. I like it. https://www.hogshaven.com/2018/9/13/17851828/redskins-vs-colts-injury-report-maurice-harris-returns-to-practice
  20. I'm not sure we see much from our passing game this week due to Florence, although my weather app says not much rain on Saturday or Sunday. Not sure how that's possible but I'd love clear weather. Sloppy weather only favors the underdog. Good conditions should allow us to handle the colts. I know we went 2 wr sets a lot as we were using multiple tight ends last week, and I wonder if we do the same this week due to our lack of healthy WRs. If we go three receiver sets that could mean all our healthy WRs are on the field at the same time. That's a little unnerving. Hopefully we get a lead early and can keep a similar game plan as last week. I'd be more than happy to wait another week to get a better read on our wr situtation.
  21. Thanks for the info. I now feel ok about chesson as a short term fix until Harris returns, and I wouldn't be surprised if chesson sticks longer than quick if guys like sims are able to come back the second half of the year. Chesson has a lot of positives and is a well rounded guy, I'm surprised he isn't on a roster somewhere. I hope they promote him asap.
  22. If we we're able to stash him on ir for the rest of the season, I'd be perfectly happy with that. I didn't expect to get much wr production this year from Sims, but I do believe he has potential to be a good starting wr in the NFL over the long term, which is why I'm glad they hung onto him. But my question is: if they put him on ir with an injury that would only keep him out 4-6 weeks, and by November he is healthy but we have already burned our 2 IR to return, can another team swipe him away from us? bc that would suck, and if that's the case, I'd prefer to cut Keyes and carry 7 wr for a month or so until guys heal, and then we can part ways with quick again. Doesn't seem like there are teams looking to scoop him up.
  23. Even tho Dez may be better than all our WRs right now, don't you think that Dez coming on board, learning our offense quickly, and being perfectly ok with not having the offense run through him is not a very likely scenario? Not to mention he doesn't play special teams, which Sims and Quinn do. Also, signing Dez would mean giving that roster spot to him over a young guy who could help us for the next five to ten years. We know Dez is only a stop gap. If he had an art monk demeanor, it would be an intriguing possibility. But bringing in head cases never works out for the Redskins. The Patriots maybe, but not the Redskins.
  24. Ok, I thought you had to designate them. Thanks. And I would prefer to bring back Quinn and marshall over Sims.
