  1. Reading into Julie Donaldson's that the news is disappointing and sad, and that Santos and Mann were pro scouts in charge of scouting upcoming opponents, maybe they were filming sideline signals. Disappointing bc they chose to cheat, sad bc we still had the second worst record in the NFL even when we knew what was coming!!
  2. If you are Dan Snyder, this is not a good time for a story to break about racism in the organization. I think there is a very good chance he would be forced to sell if that's true. There would be a vocal contingent ripping Snyder, and there won't be many people voicing support for Snyder to save him. With Bezos having been rumored to want an NFL team, and Amazon's presence in DC, it would make perfect sense for him to buy the team. And while Amazon's corporate culture is awful and he is a sleazeball, I would still rather take my chances with Bezos. That says a lot about Snyder.
  3. I think he sticks around. He can definitely play a valuable role with his size and blocking ability. It's definitely a bummer for him to not have his sophomore season to grow as a wr, but I think he will still be an asset for us in the future.
  4. Definitely a bummer about harmon, for both his and Haskins development. But trying to find a silver lining: - 2020 will probably be a rocky season anyway, with games potentially getting cancelled and stars being lost randomly due to covid exposure. - Harmon should be ready to contribute in 2021 due to timing of the injury - Harmon isn't a fringe guy, he showed enough potential last year to solidify a role with the young nucleus we are building - this opens up a roster spot for a guy like Isaiah wright, so we can better identify contributors as we work towards contending in 2022 or 2023. It's also nice to actually be talking football and personnel instead of name changes, racism, potential front office misconduct, Snyder being a buffoon etc. Hopefully next time we talk football it's good news!
  5. It is very strange, considering the coach is also brand new to the organization as well. Rivera is the Anna Nicole Smith of our generation, getting instant access to the billionaire with everyone else thinking maybe they should slow it down a bit.
  6. That one made me laugh, haven't heard that name in about 30 years.
  7. Cincy drafted LT Jonah Williams with their #1 in 2019, so they may feel they are set there and look to address other positions, unless they move him to RT to take Sewell.
  8. I DVRd the replay of the 2005 NFL draft a few weeks back, and was watching it earlier. After Alex smith was taken #1 overall by the 49ers, there was speculation he could still get traded. The browns were rumored to be interested in trading for Alex smith, and the 49ers would fall back to #3 and take Aaron Rodgers. Supposedly the deal was mixed when the dolphins passed on braylon Edwards and took Ronnie Brown. The browns liked edwards, so they stayed put at #3 and took him. What a crazy domino that would have had on the NFL over the last 15 years if the fins took Edwards. -Alex smith has a whole new career trajectory. -do the browns end their never ending QB carousel? -No Rodgers / favre feud. -Does Rodgers prosper in SF if he is forced into starting right away with Nolan guiding the team? -no wildcat! That was a fun few weeks!! -does this domino effect lead to Rogers being taken before 9? Campbell before 25? The skins would have benefitted from whatever was behind door #2. Pretty cool to see it unfold after knowing how it all ends up.
  9. That chart also shows how absolutely horrific Jacksonville is at drafting. Wow. Every one of those guys didn't last long for one reason or another. Surprised they made it so close to a super bowl in spite of it.
  10. I don't want to waste any more time thinking about Trent. So glad we cut the cord. I look forward to seeing our dline face him this season.
  11. I DVRd the 1st round of the 1989 NFL draft that aired on ESPN a few weeks ago, and it's a good watch. Don't know if anyone else caught it, but if you see it on the listings, definitely check it out. Some of my favorites: 1. Joe t railing on the cowboys for not trading back after they stay at #1 and take aikman. 2. Later joe t interviews him and asks aikman, "how excited are you to hand the ball off to Herschel walker?" 3. Young Berman and Tom Jackson. Awesome 4. In the opening dialogue, talking about the rumors of Redskins trading for Gerald Riggs swirling. Funny to see that snapshot in time. 5. Studs in this draft: aikman, b sanders, d sanders, d. thomas etc 6. Deion being deion. Flashy and arrogant. 7. After aikman was selected, they talked about how rare it was that a QB went number one. Only the 6th time it happened. Now QB is most likely to go #1. 8. The ridiculous hats that fans wore back then. So ridiculous I wish I could buy one today, one that wasn't used on eBay that is a shade of yellowish-brown. 9. Analysts being surprised teams kept passing on Andre Rison. I think we now know why. I could go on, but really interesting to watch. This is one of those silver linings of the lockdown. If life was moving at a normal pace, no way I spend three and a half hours watching a draft from 31 years ago. But I'm glad I watched it.
  12. 100%. His leadership and work ethic are invaluable, and he is the best pound the rock back we have. There are also 2 additional roster spots this year, one may go to rb. Love can be put on pup to buy time, barber is a JAG with low gtd money, gibson will be used primarily as a wr. Write Peterson in sharpie.
  13. Someone needs to tell Charles he should not speak that name for awhile, we have heard it enough lately.
  14. No to Peters for that reason. A stopgap isn't worth dealing with that agent again. I'd sign Penn today, and if everyone looks good and is healthy come last roster cut, I'd cut Moses, and go with Penn and Charles at LT, and Lucas and Christian at RT. Get moses off the books, and give christian another season to see if he should be in the 2021 plans.
  15. Man you guys are relentless. But especially during a national lockdown, there's nothing else to do, so might as well.
  16. I agree with this. Let's not try to get too cute with it, let all these guys play together and all go off, then we worry about what to do with the abundance of riches. Just to have an abundance of riches isn't something we should look to get away from, especially on a d line unit. We should be turning our attention now to an extension for Allen, not a trade that ships him out. We are in good enough cap shape where we could keep our core sprinkled with a healthy amount of cheap labor if we keep having solid drafts with k smith. That'll be a great core to build the team around.
  17. NFL game pass has super bowl 18 in it's entirety as one of it's featured games in case anyone wants to relive that nightmare. Pretty crazy to watch tho. Nfl and the super bowl have come such a long way. Pregame introductions were such a disaster (super bowl 10 or 13 I can't remember) but they were so uncoordinated and awkward. I was only 2 at the time, but the riggins era must have been so fun to watch. Not only is he a bad ass, but the skins just pound the rock with him, 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Good luck stopping it. Pretty cool to see the Gibbs offense in its prime, all the pre snap motion that was fairly new at the time. Hoping they add some of the more enjoyable Redskins super bowls.
  18. Yes, I would think the same thing. But maybe the Redskins could convince the Lions that they are weighing another offer from a team trading up to 2 giving up considerably more draft capitol, but if Detroit signs off on not taking young, we choose young plus Detroit's 2nd. If Detroit can't put it in writing they won't take chase, we are going to take that other offer with the other team, and in turn Detroit loses out on tua. We have to act like those two trade offers are our plan a and plan b, and staying at 2 to take young is plan c. That could be a tough sell and Detroit could very well call our bluff. But I guess it's possible. This is assuming deals where other teams guarantee they don't draft specific players are allowed, which I dont know.
  19. Get Bruce Smith in here to work with him on it. Dude is probably still in great shape.
  20. That's a good point about cincy possibly loving both QB prospects and wanting to trade back to get extra picks. It's funny bc some skins fans who want to trade back are rooting for Tuas medicals to come back clean to help our leverage, where maybe I should start rooting for them to not come back clean so Cincy is forced to stay at 1 and take burrow and it's clear taking CY over a watered down trade package is our best bet. It's going to be a loooooooong 2 months.
  21. If Detroit passes on tua, I don't see why the Giants would stay at 4 instead of trading back. Especially when you see Andrew Thomas being mocked there, trading back to get one of the other comparable OTs and getting extra picks seems enticing. I hope they stay and take Thomas, I think it is their worst move. If I were them, I'd auction tua at 4.
  22. Either way, I hope they keep their plans close to the vest and make their rounds of phone calls to see what the asking price is for the pick. Even if they internally know they are staying at 2, it could help for similar situations in the future.
  23. I think okudah, Simmons, and jeudy will all have strong draft processes, and it will come down to teams deciding positional preference. I also think espinosa is a 4-3 d end, and Simmons a will olb in the 4-3, so different position. That being said, young vs jeudy / delpit / Espinosa is an interesting debate. Swap in okudah for jeudy, and you get your pass rusher in addition to upgrades at FS and CB which many believe should be a priority. Or Simmons being a stud and filling our olb need. Simmons / lamb / Espinosa would be a good haul as well.
  24. Definitely makes for an interesting conversation. In your scenario, I'd take whichever of okudah or Simmons that the Giants don't take as our pick at 5, then I like your other 2 selections. As someone who has said and still believes you stay and take young, I certainly understand the appeal of trading back. How about trading down AND getting Chase young? How awesome would that be. It would be contingent on Detroit falling in love with tua as the successor to stafford. We have our poker face, express genuine interest in trading out of the 2 spot (or selecting tua ourselves), and solicit bids for the #2 pick, knowing we would only consider what Detroit offered. If we could get Detroit's 2nd, maybe we roll the dice that they would stay at 2 and take tua (or if they decide to trade back and get a better haul that we passed on, whatever, as long as tua is the pick). We would still get young. Or if detroit fakes us out, and takes young themselves, we could auction the #3 pick for tua, hoping Miami is the high bidder, so we can then auction the #5 pick for Herbert. It could result in a lot of premium draft picks, potentially rivaling some of the biggest draft day moves ever. But I'm still not convinced you don't try to get too cute, you take young and let him lead your defense for 12 years.
