  1. Hopefully Bobby Johnson is able to persuade Morse to come here on a reasonable contract. I might feel better about the hire if so. If he can convince white and poyer to do the same I say we give him an assistant head coach title.
  2. If that's what he means, then don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya. I liked Curl, but it seems he and his dad think he is worth a lot more than he really is. Go chase that (overinflated) pay day and best of luck. Onwards and upwards.
  3. But now instead of having a serviceable LT to protect the rookie QBs blind side, we have a gaping hole as we enter the offseason, and will need a premium asset (high priced FA or high draft pick) to fill it.
  4. Valid point, but to rank him behind the raiders center, when Prisco prefaced that his rankings were based on positional value, and having the vastly overrated underachiever chase young right after him seems like he isn't giving Queen enough credit. We have needs at C, LB, and DE, and if I could pick one of those 3, it's Queen by a mile.
  5. I think they want to be competitive sooner rather than later. A veteran corner who can play man and is still playing well will be very attractive to Quinn imo.
  6. CB Xavien Howard getting released by the Dolphins. Even though he finished '23 hurt, he still is a very good CB. Release is due to Miami needing the space and Howard carrying an enormous cap number in '24. He is known as a very good man corner, something we need with DQ taking over. The off-season has begun! https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.miamiherald.com/sports/nfl/miami-dolphins/article285384867.html https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/2021/07/27/xavien-howard-trade-miami-dolphins/ This article is a few years old.
  7. 25. Andre James 26. Patrick Queen 27. Chase Young I hope the rest of the NFL overlooks Queen as much as Prisco does.
  8. The cap going up more than expected hurts us more than helps us. Yes we have more cap space, but so does everyone else. This will allow teams more of a chance to retain players we were hoping would hit the market, and would also allow them to avoid having to make tough decisions and potentially release players who could help us. We were already flush with cap space, I wish it didn't go up as much and we could watch some of these other teams be hamstrung.
  9. They could always keep him until final cuts to see how he does at LG, maybe the position switch will help. Just seems with how bad he looked in a scheme he was supposed to do well in, that the 4 mil would be better spent elsewhere. I'd prefer to cut him immediately and bring in someone I have more faith in i.e. Robert Hunt. We need to improve the oline before we get another young QB shell shocked, and I don't feel comfortable relying on Wylie turning it around. He stunk, he needs to see his way out.
  10. Best sandwich I had was the woody Allen at Carnegie deli. Open faced sandwich, half pastrami and half corned beef, piled high. Must've been 3-4 lbs of meat on there. Melted cheese on top. It probably took 5 years off my life but definitely worth it.
  11. Commanders could cut Andrew Wylie Cap savings - $4.25 million (post-June 1 designation) https://riggosrag.com/posts/5-early-commanders-cut-candidates-2023-midseason-point/3 4.25 based off of designating him as June 1st cut to spread it out.
  12. Spotrac has Dugger earning 16.5 mil per year over 4 years. Higher than I expected. If we are giving out big deals like that, I'd rather it be OT, LB, DE. Not happy to see the news that the cap will be higher than expected, giving teams a little extra to work with. I am hoping we can score one of McKinney, curl, or Dugger at a palatable price before settling in the next tier of stone / fuller / whitehead who are less impactful and project to more FS than SS. Edit: as @Est.1974 mentioned J Kearse, he probably makes the most sense as a plan B at S if those top 3 are too expensive. Short deal and work on longer term solution in a year or two.
  13. My crack at GM: I would be aggressive in free agency and try to bring in a lot of quality players. Not top tier, but maybe a notch or two below. I want to start the Quinn era right and be competitive sooner rather than later, so I'm putting our league high cap space to good use. I'd keep Leno, I don't see him as the problem, and I'd rather focus on filling other more pressing needs. For cuts, I'm releasing Logan Thomas (6.5 mil savings) and Wylie (4.25). With about 80 mil in cap space to start, these moves bring us up to 90 mil. I'm re-signing: CB Fuller - 3 yr 40 mil (10 mil cap #) SS Curl - 4 yr 40 mil (7) *Projections I'm reading are curl commanding more than McKinney on free agent market, with curl getting more than numbers above. I'd be negotiating with a number of S at the outset. If curl doesn't accept this offer, there is a decent FA safety class so I want a quality one at this price range T Corn Lucas - 2 yr 7 mil (3) S Jeremy Reeves - 3 yr 10 mil (3) DE James Smith-Williams 2 yr 6 mil (3) WR/PR Jamison Crowder 1 yr 2 mil (2) Down to 62 in cap space. Sign these free agents: LB Frankie Luvu - 3 yr 23 mil (6) DE J Greenard - 4 yr 60 mil (13) *My approach with DE is sign a big fish and spend a premium pick for the other end. I don't agree with signing 2 big fish at DE, bc we will be right back to having too much $ tied up in one position group. I like Greenard bc he plays well vs the run, and playing next to payne/Allen, I think he looks even better as a pass rusher and will prove to be a great all around d end. Only concern is durability. LB B Wagner - 2 yr 12 mil (5) *Hopefully Quinn can talk Wagner into coming here. A leader at MLB is a must TE N Fant - 3 yr 27 mil (6) *TE is a tough call given I don't what to expect I terms of how air raidish our offense is. KK wanted us to think it won't be, but time will tell. Fant will also help with primary objective to upgrade oline/blocking up front. LG Robert Hunt - 4 yr 44 mil (8) *Oline needs to be trustworthy with rookie QB coming in. Money well spent. DE Dante Fowler - 2 yr 8 mil (3) *Quinn will attract the pass rushing specialist. Could have a big impact next to our DTs. Kicker - 1 yr 2 mil (2) Long snapper - anyone but cheeseman, cost is negligible Would have 17 mil in cap room after these moves, with 10 of that going to rookie class. About 7 mil in cap space going into season, with restructuring terry and Payne being options if we need some extra room. *** I had WR Gabe Davis under consideration, a tall wr that scores TDs and can stretch the field would be huge for this offense. But I ran out of money lol. Draft 1.2 QB Drake Maye. Or whichever QB we like most on the board. We have to stay put and get the best QB. 2.36 DE Chop Robinson - Across from Greenard, talented edge rusher with relatively modest price tag for 4 years. We are back to being excited about our front 4. 2.40 T Patrick Paul - athletic with long arms, it's easy to see a scenario where Paul develops into a very good OT, especially in a system that will probably favor athletic OTs. RT in year 1 3.67 C/G Sedrick Van Pran - he and Strom battle it out for week 1 start at C. 3.100. RB Bucky Irving - shifty scat back to complement B Rob / C Rod 4.102. WR - best on the board, hopefully with some height. Tez Walker / B Rice / Rosemary-Jacksaint among other possibilities Rest of day 3 picks: need another LB, PR candidate, OL/DB depth This team would be much more competitive than the last team we saw. Embarrassing black holes such as OL and LB would be in much better shape, and adding talent across the roster, and putting our young QB in a much better position to succeed than the last guy. Complete makeover in one off-season, is that too much to ask 😂
  14. That would be pretty cool. I do wonder how CP will fit in this new scheme. He seems like a guy who will be on the roster bubble at best. I hope they aren't in a rush to cut Leno, and see how the LT market unfolds during FA before making a move. It might make sense to hang onto him for one more year and address other needs this offseason. I'd prioritize the upgrade at LG well before upgrading Leno. PP could be a day 1 starter at RT, maybe sliding to LT in the future. I'm with you on the Patrick Paul bandwagon.
  15. I see where you are coming from, but I think the ideal route is keeping cosmi at RG and drafting a solid RT with one of the second rounders. I like what I've read about Patrick Paul. The fact that Cosmi is set to hit FA soon, and Ts command more than Gs, I'd rather keep him at the position where he proved himself ( and a more affordable re-sign) and get a RT in the draft that will have a lower price tag and higher ceiling for the position.
  16. Will be interesting to see if he gets moved and what he fetches. He would definitely be great in our new vertical offense.
  17. Don't want a player we have to give up premium picks for then shell out a big contract. Let's get a wr in the 2nd under team control for 4 years at a much better price tag.
  18. I wonder if the Martys are being retained for now to help with decisions on who to resign. They could help with character traits and some of the behind the scenes stuff for guys like curl. James Smith Williams, obada etc Then once summertime hits they could be relieved of their duties. Steve wilks is now available. at the rate we're going, Maybe we can talk him into assistant to the assistant of the d line
  19. Absolutely love the Lynn hire. I was getting excited about him when reading about potential OCs Ben Johnson may bring in. A lot of experience, rough stretch as a HC but SD was a competitive team that lost a lot of close games. After Kliff was hired, I figured we wouldn't be getting Lynn, so this is a great get.
  20. I'm sure it's a collaborative effort, with Quinn respecting whitt's input, more than whitt picking his own staff. But a great sign indeed.
