  1. I'm with you, I'm high on TH too. If the FO decides to go all in on TH and dedicate resources elsewhere in FA, maybe trade back from 19 and add day 2 picks to fill various holes, and TH plays like he did vs TB over a full season, we are a SB contender assuming our big cats stay healthy. He was great in every facet. I'm all about being optimistic, but playing devil's advocate, if every qb could prorate their best game ever over a 16 game sample, we would have a world full of all pros.
  2. I like TH, and I'm pretty high on his potential, but let's just say he doesn't win the starting qb competition in the fall and just kind of fades into Bolivia (as mike tyson would say), and he ends up with 0 career wins here, but there is a "legend of taylor heinecke" shirt floating around. It makes me want one even more now.
  3. I always think the same thing. Like with the fields is falling to mid round rumors, it's probably just a team picking outside the top 10 that wants to have teams second guessing themselves. A mere 5 months ago, what were the odds that Zach wilson gets drafted ahead of trevor lawrence. Dude came out of nowhere.
  4. I think wentz will do well in indy. - being re united with reich and a change of scenery, his confidence will be restored immediately. - indy probably has the best young OL in the league (they need a LT to replace constanzo, but other spots are solid with young talent) - good young defense to take pressure off him. He doesn't need to outscore opponents in shoot outs, just be smart with the football. - biggest difference, he is leaving the negative philly market for a less stressful indy one. Wentz was playing at an mvp level just a few years ago. He has everything he needs to succeed. I'm just bummed someone bailed Philly out of that contract. I was hoping he would rot on the bench with that cap number and let Philly talk radio implode. I think we land mariota for a 5th. And I will happily approve of the move.
  5. I've advocated for that multiple times on here when ppl say we should chase A Rob. He is a beast no doubt, but for a few mil more, you could have both samuel and davis. Samuel, davis, and t mac can play all over, can add in running plays/jet sweeps, and can all block. It would go from a weakness to a formidable unit, with great balance, overnight. And they are all entering their primes, and will only get better.
  6. I like davis too, he is also a good blocker. I'm hoping injury history and underwhelming stats, along with decrease in cap, leads to a 10-12ish aav.
  7. I don't think any team will take AS without a young qb already on the roster and a transition plan is in place. Maybe new england grabs a qb of the future at 15, and pursue him after the draft. It will be interesting to see where AS lands. Bc if you are a team that's close to making a run, do you want to take a risk on AS and his bum leg. And if you are AS and had this catastrophic injury and have made millions already, do you want to come back and risk your health to be qb of the jaguars or another bottom feeder?
  8. Jax does make a lot of sense. Smith would be a great mentor for trevor lawrence. And if minshew doesn't work out here, oh well, we would've cut smith anyway, so no big loss.
  9. I know both of his brothers are there, but pitt has two productive d ends already, and big ben has one meh year left. I think green bay makes more sense, he played at wisc, and due to their need at d end, and rodgers still playing at a high level. Sign a 1 or 2 year deal there, then maybe unite with his brothers somewhere.
  10. Hooker is my #1 choice for FS due to high ceiling and lower cost than MM and MW. Not that I'm advocating for low cost hookers. I haven't read anything on it, but I'm guessing watt went to the owner and said "considering all I've done for this city and this franchise, can you do me a solid and release me instead of trading me so I can choose my next team.". Most owners would've said no, but maybe houston is looking to repair the organizations reputation / culture. Bc you are right, even a declining watt at a big salary could've fetched a midround pick.
  11. Haha, gotcha, I misunderstood what you wrote. I thought a professor was busting his chops about missing a final when he was signed by the skins. In which case, I would've said the same thing. Crazy how close he was to a desk job, now is a millionaire. TH is so happy haskins just had to go to the club.
  12. Contract numbers look great, low base both this year and next. No brainer, at worst he is a great option off the bench if we need him in a pinch. Anything above that is all gravy.
  13. Great move! Low risk, high reward. I'm hoping TH gets a shot, I want to see what he can do. His small sample size here is phenomenal, I'd rather he prove he can't handle being the man here before we significantly invest in the remaining options. And as someone said before, man did TH seize his opportunity. I give him a ton of credit for that. Off the street, under the bright lights, and he was awesome. It will be interesting to see how it is structured, and what the base salaries / guarantees are.
  14. Agreed, i wouldnt mind trading back to stock up on 2022 picks. But I also remember being pissed when Scot traded a 4th for a pick the following year when andrew billings was on the board! And that's why I'm not a GM.
  15. Absolutely, I'd rather have the proven elite qb than a very raw qb who didn't even play FBS. But again, I'm not as big on lance as others are. I'd assume wilson still has 6 plus very good season left in him. Before in between lynch and DK, wilson proved he could carry that offense almost single handedly.
  16. They are debating russell wilson vs lance, not Zach wilson. I made the same mistake first time I read it.
  17. @Burgundy Yoda minshew did a decent job with jax, especially at first, but then he seemed to struggle. I know he was in the doghouse for not being honest about a hand injury. Maybe that contributed to his struggles? Also, I wonder how much of those stats were a result of loose defenses bc jax was already down a lot and they had to throw to catch up, and defenses gave up everything in front of them. And while I don't dislike minshew, he seems very similar to TH and KA, in the sense that they seem to be backup types with higher floor / limited ceiling (maybe TH can prove us wrong on that). It would be nice if our 3rd qb has a bit higher of a ceiling. I'm hesitant to part with a midround pick for a guy who could very well prove to be the 3rd best veteran on our team, and therefore would be the first one let go if we have a rookie we like fall into our laps. But then again, maybe minshew comes in, has a strong camp, and proves to be our best option at qb. Who knows. If we feel he is head and shoulders above Kyle Allen, and the asking price is palatable, seems like a good move. There seems to be a very fine line in 2021 between starting qb for WFT and not even making the opening day roster.
  18. I understand your premise. You make valid points. When I mentioned market size, that was just a (relatively small) piece of the equation. The other points I made, such as today's best qb vs the goat, brady as a villain, brady vs belichick debate, biggest 2020 storyline, etc are a much bigger factor, and would appeal to even the more passive fans, and all the people who don't have a horse in the race who will be more inclined to tune in is significant. I know I saw it first hand in new england, a ton of interest here locally, even my 82 year old mother in law wanted to know how Tom did, and she couldn't name one other player in the NFL. Fair to say we disagree on the increased appeal for the SB with brady involved; you think it's minimal, and I think it's more significant. And another thing I want to add, I don't think a favorable super bowl matchup is potentially orchestrated by goodell summoning the refs and discussing the scheme, which would leave the possibility of having the plot being discovered as you alluded to. These refs are smart enough to know that the nfl wants KC vs t bay. Maybe if they make it happen, that helps them get their desirable assignments in the future. Also, being a stakeholder/employee of the nfl, I'm sure they see the connection between the empire making more money leads to their future pay and benefits increasing as well. I'm not saying this is definitely the case, just a thought. Again, I'm not saying it was 100% fixed, just that it makes me wonder if it was all purely a coincidence or not. 🍻
  19. To be clear, I'm not saying I 100% believe the fix was in. I'm saying between all the calls they got this postseason and my belief that the best scenario for the NFL was tom brady in the super bowl, that it raises a red flag. I guess where we disagree is you think the NFL would not give calls to a certain team if the end result didn't increase revenue/ratings/interest? I disagree. You also say a t bay vs kc super bowl would only POSSIBLY SLIGHTLY raise revenue/ratings/interest over a buffalo vs green bay super bowl, smaller markets with less star power without the greatest qb today vs greatest qb of all time matchup, and without the biggest storyline of the entire 2020 season? Let's put the "fix is in" aside for a second, the KC vs t bay was a DEFINITELY MUCH better outcome for the NFL than g bay vs buffalo. If you don't believe that, let me get your contact info, bc I've got a beautiful piece of oceanfront property in Nebraska to sell you.
  20. I can understand that you don't agree, but to say it's laughable that a billion dollar industry wouldn't be motivated to maximize interest / revenue is a bit naive. I'm not saying it definitely is the case, but all those calls throughout every game of the playoffs along with my points about why tampa winning the SB is good for the NFL is a bit of a coincidence to me, which at least raises the possibility. But to each their own.
  21. Brady to the bucs was the biggest storyline of 2020. It was also fuel for the brady vs belichick debate. And the bucs have a lot more star power than g bay. Also, brady is the most hated man in the nfl. In all of sports, ratings are higher when ppl can tune in to root against the villain (ie yankees, lakers, etc). A lot of ppl tuned out this year due to covid, NFLs stance on social issues etc. If there was ever a year the nfl wanted to maximize interest, this would be it imo. And having a repeat champ would've been less exciting than this newly assembled dream team.
  22. So a lot of us were disappointed with the lack of holding calls when we played t bay in the playoffs, and some the blatant missed calls, the mckissic fumble, etc. But you can't blame the refs, so we move on. Then we see the bucs play the packers, and they let dbs play the whole game, then that ticky tack PI on g bay to seal the win for tampa. Then last night the overwhelming amount of calls going against the chiefs. It's a billion dollar industry, in a year where covid muted a lot of enthusiasm (and revenue), it makes you wonder if the NFL charted this path for the Tom brady story. Huge ratings in both new england and tampa. A lot of interest bc people want to root against the villain, or just to see if Tom can do it without belichick. A little too much going on for me to think it was all just a big coincidence.
