  1. Why do reporters even waste their time writing how the Seahawks are getting calls for Russ? You need to use scientific notation to report the odds of that happening.
  2. That is still low enough to make things uncomfortable for a lot of teams. Even if certain teams aren't forced to make a lot of cuts, it will at least limit their aggressiveness in FA this year. A lot of FA will be looking for one year deals where they can shine for the next year's offseason and they can cash in. If you are a LB, what better dline to make you look awesome.
  3. Losing a 2nd and a 4th for darnold would be a fleecing. Hope that source has no legit info.
  4. I got the alert and I had to re read. Thought maybe there is a young up and comer with the same name. Shocked a super bowl contender will put their eggs in that basket.
  5. I admit, I never seriously considered JW this offseason, mostly bc of the 30 int year had me mentally writing him off. My initial thoughts were - If we are going to take a stab on a player with potential but warts, the fact that we have a strong defense makes me lean towards a qb who protects the football over a guy who forces throws, even if his passing volume stats are better. But some of the pro JW points have me re considering. It seems the 30 int year was an anomaly. I also questioned his leadership, and there seems to be mixed feedback according to the ever so accurate internet. I know gerald mccoy questioned his leadership at one point in 2019, but coaches/FO were applauding his leadership in 2017 and 2019. Take both with a grain of salt. I still always think of his immaturity in college (crab legs, shouting towards reporter, etc), which probably shouldn't be weighed heavily considering that was years ago. I still like taylor/mariota/fitz as "value" signings, but JW is an interesting option. A concern is he struggled when teamed up with Evans and Godwin in arians scheme, now are we going to expect him to succeed throwing to wrs such as sims and wright in turners unproven scheme? A bit of a risk, but every option we have has a significant level of risk, taking a flyer on JW might be a better move than I originally thought.
  6. I know, savage would be perfect to plug in right now. But if we took savage instead of haskins, we don't get chase young, so I'm good with the trade off.
  7. A 3rd for carr. That's my final offer. They hang up on me. I lose no sleep over it and move on.
  8. If you give up sweat and curl in addition to premium draft picks, that good defense you referenced takes a step back. We won't have picks to get the defense back to where it is today or surround watson with weapons. The net result is a negative imo.
  9. For those two young players, the draft pick compensation needs to come way down. Those two guys plus 2 firsts and a 2nd, I say no thanks. Sweat himself is more valuable than a 1st round pick, let's say he is a 1st and a 3rd (that's fair, you could make a case he is worth more). So we'd be giving up 3 1sts, a 2nd, a 3rd, and curl. Too much. And what draft pick compensation would you peg for curl? When you add that to the tally, it looks even more ridiculous. I dont doubt that watson will fetch an absurd amount, I just hope it's not us that pays it.
  10. That was my take on why I had stafford #1 on my list, and everyone else a distant 2nd. Considering his cost and that he is only 32 years old, I felt the price was palatable. Now, our options are going to require more assets and/or a player with warts. I don't feel very good about what else is out there. But you're right, if stafford wanted his next team to be the Rams, nothing we could've done. Wouldn't it be nice if players told their agents, " I want to play for the skins and no one else, make it happen "
  11. Derek Carr just had the best qb rating of his career, and he has improved in each of his three seasons under gruden. For those who are excited at the possibility of acquiring carr bc he is a solid qb, doesn't that also strengthen the argument against the raiders trading him. If he is so good, why wouldn't the raiders keep him and build around him? They need to shed some salaries, but they have some no brainier moves that would get them back into the black. With franchise qbs being so rare, it seems silly to kick a 29 year old qb to the curb and start over.
  12. Who do you think is out there that would be worth that price tag? I agree with your take, I'd have done a 1st and a 3rd for stafford. But I wouldn't do it for the remaining options. I wouldn't for ryan, by the time he gets acclimated and we can use picks to surround him with playmakers, he is in the twilight years. Derek carr is not worth a 1st. Darnold definitely not. I'd even balk at lesser asking prices for them, I just think the odds of those moves working out for us are too slim.
  13. I understand TT and MM are pretty underwhelming choices. But the reason I'm now hoping for that is bc I don't have faith that the return on the other options will be worth the cost. And worst case scenario is we give up significant resources where we can't plug other holes, and then if the qb doesn't pan out, we took major steps backwards. I guess what I'm saying is, I was all about being aggressive towards stafford, but now if the other options command the expected price tag, I'd rather not be aggressive this offseason. Let's have a full draft and add a key piece or two in free agency, and look to the 2022 draft. I just don't like the second tier qbs in this draft, and the other FA/trade options are too costly (dak notwithstanding, but JJ isn't letting him walk). Sometimes inaction is the best action. And while I don't think we should sit back and declare TH the savior, I do want to see what he provides over a whole season before I overpay for another option this offseason.
  14. 2021 and 2023 1st round pick 2022 and 2024 2nd round pick Matt ionnidis Landon collins (cap hits don't look as bad when signing bonus portion is removed, still only 28). I know he can't pass a physical right now, so that might be a problem. If they expect sweat or young on top of those draft picks, they can go pound sand. I'd consider payne or curl, but I'd lessen the draft pick compensation if they're included. If that doesnt get it done, move on. Watson is definitely not a do whatever it takes situation.
  15. Haha, it's funny my first thought was "well, technically troy apke and thomas davis started, so, we got a deal?"
  16. Ive had stafford at #1 on my qb wish list, so back to the drawing board. I don't feel very good about any of the remaining options, and I doubt the cost of any of these guys goes down from what is expected. I don't want to trade up for a qb due to the picks it would take, and then we have an unknown with a limited supporting cast and a suspect OC. Watson will cost a fortune. Ryan and Carr will cost more than they should. I don't think we will even get a shot at dak, but if he hits the open market, be aggressive. I want no part of cam newton. I don't have any faith in dalton, trubisky, or winston. So I'm down to three guys, and they are all underwhelming, but if they don't work out, we won't carry the burden of the cost moving forward. And I have hope they can run this offense successfully. 1. Tyrod taylor - did a decent job in buffalo, had about a .500 record and protected the football. I like that he can make plays with his feet and doesn't turn the ball over. That seems like a great fit here. The last two years stops he was brought in as a starter/mentor, but after a minor injury the rookie played very well and he never got his job back. He won't break the bank, will be thrilled for a chance to start, and is coming back home as a virginia boy, so I think we can get him on a very affordable contract. 2. Marcus mariota - I like the fact he is mobile and is only 27. He has the pedigree, and looked good in limited action this year for the raiders. I think turner would enjoy mariotas tools in our scheme. He is a high character guy that could do just enough to get us Ws. Won't break the bank either. 3 Ryan fitz. This is a distant 3rd, if no other opportunity has presented itself. Sign fitz to a one year deal to compete with allen / TH to start. Fitz has had success in multiple stops, and would at least allow for our offense to have a chance. I'd hate for AG and TM and LT to not have a halfway decent qb to continue their own development, and fitz can sling it.
  17. Right, and I'm guessing the rams said "ok, we will give you two 1s since we don't have one this year, but you have to take goff of our hands if we do that".
  18. I would've been ok with 19 this year and a 2nd next. I can't imagine the lions look at goff and that contract as a positive. Maybe just to appease fans with a known name as their qb entering 2021, but he would not get that contract on the open market today.
  19. That was my impression too, that all it means as far as 2021 picks is that we offered higher than their 3rd, which isn't saying much.
  20. Looking at the numbers, I think the rams win this trade. Goff has a dead cap hit of 22 mil. He would have had a dead cap hit of 65 mil if he was a pre june 1st cut. Post june 1st cut would've been a dead cap hit of 15 in 2021, and 50 in 2022. Translation - ain't happening. 22 mil is a lot, and it's close to a wash in 2021 to get rid of goff, but now they have an extra 26 mil to spend on FA during the last 3 years of that contract. And they also don't have to carry a qb they don't want, wasting a roster spot and a potentially toxic environment. Those two firsts will be picks in the 20s. Rams went 10-6 with goff and have their core coming back. I don't see them regressing now that they've got a qb mcvay covets. Rams get: Stafford 26 mil per yr Lions get: Couple late 1st round picks 89 overall in 2021 Overpaid, mediocre qb
