WFT vs Giants Prediction Thread: The Bottom Bowl pt. 572
cakmoney61 replied to skins island connection's topic in The Stadium
Among the teams vying for picks 6-13, Washington plays by far the weakest team. This is the order of where these teams currently pick and who they play: 6. (5-11) Carolina @ Tampa Bay 7. (6-10) Seattle @ Arizona 8. (6-10) Chicago @ Minnesota 9. (6-10) Washington @ NY Giants 10. (7-9) Atlanta @ New Orleans 11. (7-9) Denver hosts Kansas City 12. (7-9) Minnesota hosts Chicago 13. (7-9) Cleveland hosts Cincinnati (Added: *Just saw that Joe Burrow won't be playing. That helps a lot.) If Washington wins (and they will), chances are very good they will be picking 12th or 13th in the draft. If Minnesota loses to Chicago, they will jump in front of Washington. Based off SOS, Chicago (.520) may remain in front of Washington (.533) even if they win. Chicago is playing a team with three more wins so they could end up with a better SOS than Washington. If that happens, Washington will pick before Chicago. Atlanta could realistically beat New Orleans which would help Washington. If Atlanta loses, they will jump in front of Washington. But Carolina, Seattle, Denver, and *Cleveland are playing playoff teams that lead their divisions. Not good at all. For those who want a pick higher than #9, Washington must lose then get some very unlikely help. IMO, a miracle will be needed for Washington to end up with pick #11 if they win and chances are extremely good that they will. If we want Washington to have the best chance at getting the QB they want without trading up, a loss and unexpected victories by Carolina and Seattle is the only way. So, of course, they are going to win. -

Washington will win 20-17 and will end up picking #13 in the draft. Yay?🤪 -
Oh, I absolutely want to hear from you, Skinsinparadise, etc. You are the guys that know more about these prospects than the vast majority of us. I don't follow draft prospects at all. Of course, all of you can have different opinions, but you guys are my source regarding all things WFT. This year, I may watch some footage on these QB prospects to reach my own conclusions about how to feel about them. Washington needs a franchise QB on the roster beginning next year. Check that. "I" need Washington to have a franchise QB on the roster next year and I don't care how they get him. ADDED: So you would take Willis with pick #9?
-
So which QBs would you not hesitate to draft with Washington's first-round pick (possibly #9-13?)
-
You are absolutely right about the need for a good to great QB to have any chance of being a consistent winner. But do you believe there are QBs in the upcoming draft that can be "the guy" in Washington for multiple years? This is not last year's crop of QBs. Can we not find that guy in the second round? I would hate to miss out on a Kyle Hamilton because we reached for a mediocre QB.
-
Wow! You just said a mouthful. I think most WFT fans consider Darrell Green their all-time favorite. Talk about hindsight being 20/20. Darrell Green did win two Super Bowls to Marino's none. Just sayin'. Added: Can you imagine Dan Marino as the starting QB of that 1991 WFT?😬 Your points are quite valid. I just want to emphasize that in my hypothetical you were not impressed by any of the QBs at the combine.
-
You are 100% correct about how the lack of a QB has held this team back (for most of the last 30 years). Two things would really frighten me if I was hired to make that decision. Drafting a bust at QB while Hamilton plays like a HOFer. And drafting Hamilton who plays like a JAG while one of the QBs we could have drafted plays like Aaron Rodgers. Whoever makes that ill-fated decision would need to go into hiding or just leave town. And he should probably lose his job.
-
Question. Let's say Washington has the #9 pick and all the QBs are available along with freakish FS Kyle Hamilton. Should they draft one of the QBs or take Kyle Hamilton and draft a QB in the second? If no QB comes out of the combine looking like a can't-miss prospect, I would strongly consider taking Hamilton. FS has been a massive hole for too many years and now a potential superfreak FS is there for the taking. Who would you draft if none of the QBs impress you at the combine?
-
Unfortunately, Washington needs to take a hard look at getting a QB in the first round. The only way out of picking one in the first is to get a good/great one through free agency or a trade. If they truly see all the the best QB prospects as mid to late first-round picks, then trade down and take one where they feel most comfortable. They cannot go into next year without someone better or potentially better than Heinicke on the roster.

Next Day Thread: No Effort Version - Dallas vs. WFT II
cakmoney61 replied to KDawg's topic in The Stadium
I saw this coming from a thousand miles away. A healthy team playing at home that has owned Washington for decades against a very depleted WFT. I was so disinterested I forgot to make a prediction in the prediction thread. I would have predicted 42-10 Dallas. But the massacre that occurred was even worse than what even I imagined. I had predicted a record of anywhere from 6-11 to 8-9 before the year started. Well, the team has 6-11 directly in its sights. And to be perfectly honest, their record could easily have been 4-11 after yesterday's beatdown. Let's not get it twisted now. The team has good talent minus a QB, WR, an OL, a LB or two, a CB, and a S. One major thing that they don't possess is luck in regards to key injuries. Every year it's wash, rinse, and repeat when it comes to injuries. The depth of the team is significantly better, but multiple injuries, COVID, the lack of a QB, and playing on four days rest were too much to overcome culminating into what happened yesterday. I think the team is very close to being consistently good if they can find their long-term answer at QB and can avoid their annual injury epidemic. -
I turned the TV off just before they went for it on fourth down. I decided to find out what happened through you guys' posts. Needless to say, I am shocked...and extremely elated with the results.😅 HAIL TO THE FOOTBALL TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Washington's offense has made the Raiders defense look like the Steel Curtain today.
-
I'd take a sure tackle from him.
-
So true. Just a bit of frustrating hyperbole from me.
-
Injuries have been a problem all year. Don't know how we are 5-6 to be honest.
-
The tackling continues to be bad.
-
I think the Raiders have decided that Taylor can't beat them with his arm and they may be right. Taylor's arm looks weaker than it has looked all year.
-
The offense has gone ultra-conservative.
