  1. Hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving! Excited about the Dallas loss, made my day even better.
  2. I want to win this game and win big for a number of reasons... First, I want the good vibes from the last two weeks to continue. I like winning a lot more than losing, and I don't care one iota about our draft position. Second, I hate the ****ing Seahawks. Outside of the NFC East there is no team I despise more. They knocked us out of the playoffs in 2005, 2007, and 2012. Third, I want to see some more culture change in that this team goes buck wild on somebody in a Monday night football game.
  3. If I wasn’t going to a seminar in Connecticut next week I would be there. I would buy tickets. They have heart and are improving. All you can ask. You can bet I will be watching them in the hotel bar though.
  4. @HigSkin definitely better to play your best ball in November and December than September and October. As long as you haven’t played yourself out of contention. Mathematically we are out of nothing. With that said, The Division is a long shot but the playoffs are still very much a real possibility. Dallas lost today and they are known for imploding late season. The Eagles look better than anybody thought they would. Hard to know how we stack up against them right now. Bottom line, we still have plenty to look for this season. They were one step away from falling off the cliff, but it looks like the bye week arrived at just the right time and they have figured something out.
  5. There is no reason Taylor can’t be “the guy” for the foreseeable future. Some people focus so much on what he isn’t they don’t focus on what he is…a very gritty football player with a metric ton of heart. He is getting better and he could be the long-term 3 to 5 year answer. He has made me a fan.
  6. **** THE DRAFT! We have another win and I feel like the season is just getting started. I enjoyed this one as much as last week. Thanks guys for back to back Victory Mondays! Keep it up!
  7. My confidence only stems from my believe that draft order has no bearing at all on Lombardi trophies eventually obtained or not. You can get “the guys” that take you to the promised land anywhere in the draft.
  8. ...so it's not as much how high you pick in the first round, it's very much the talent and judgement of those making the picks. More often than not the reason a team is picking that high in the draft is because they are not even slightly competent...over several years. We don't need to draft a QB high in the first round to get a franchise QB. The supporting cast must also be solid for this single player to succeed to their potential. You are kind of making my point in that the position in the draft the team picks, does not make much difference, because the supporting cast (who are taken at all other levels of the draft) must also be top shelf for that person to succeed. When was the last time the sports media was completely blown away by an unexpected pick in the top 5? They top 5 expected are typically in the top 1-10 picks made. If everybody expects the player to be a world beater, but then they aren't...does that always have to do with the ****ty team that drafted them? Or is it a total crap shoot on who pans out and doesn't? I say it's a crap shoot. I say more often than not the high pick doesn't live up to expectations. I'm not saying it never works out, there are a few examples that can be shown where it did...but most of the time it doesn't and the odds are stacked against the player for being a catalyst for multiple Super Bowl wins. (The whole point) The Patriots won 6 super bowls over 17 years and went to 9 without a single top 5 pick that turned out to be a world beater. I know it's been said ad nauseum for years, but Tom Brady was picked in the 6th round and he is without question the best game manager QB of all time. Not the best passer (but pretty good). Not the best athlete (but pretty good). Far and away the best game manager and tactician. The proof is in the pudding.
  9. I don’t think any data would show that it does per capita. If it does why are the same teams always picking high? More often than not your first rounder turns out being a solid player, but not a game-changing catalyst for a Super Bowl ring. I believe people put way too much stock in having high picks as a core part of a rebuild. I believe culture and overall team talent matters far more than a messiah first rounder. There is evidence to back up this claim. Like the Patriots dynasty for example.
  10. I’ve come to realize lately that we are far too focused on what is to come down the road rather than right here and right now. From here on, I’ve decided I’m going to try to watch every game that I can as if it could be the last one I ever get to watch…because it might be. I want the players to play like it could be the last game they ever get to play…because it might be. Nothing in life is guaranteed. There is no tomorrow.
  11. There are exceptions to every rule but there are far more Johnny Football types than Peyton Manning types. The list of failed first round QB picks is long and distinguished. The fact is they don’t really know who is going to emerge and be the man until they do it in the real world. More often than not it’s not the guy the experts expect.
  12. We are perpetually focused on next season. In the words of Apollo Creed from Rocky 3… ”THERE IS NO TOMORROW!!” I would rather them win 4 more games and finish 7-10 and draft 16th (**** the draft) than watch them lose 8 more. You know why? I like to see them win. I enjoy wins. Even if that means the next faux savior for the team can’t be picked. **** the draft. They gave me a taste of what they can do on Sunday and I want more.
  13. We are pretty much on the same page, but for me the best team for the year is the team that wins the Super Bowl. On paper best means nothing to me. “Loaded with talent” but fell short means nothing. The record you had going into the playoffs means nothing. The Super Bowl is everything and if you win it you won when it counted the most. You were the best when it counted the most. If you don’t win the big one you are simply another also ran. The 2007 Patriots were not the best team that year, it was the Giants. (**** Mara)
  14. Run with wild card birth because I don’t believe picking in the top 3 or the bottom 3 of the first round makes one ounce of difference to the end result. No team is one player away. No one player is worth that much. This is a team game and the best team wins it all.
  15. We speak in absolutes so much when it comes to this team. I am as guilty of this as the next fan. When a legitimate reason for hope arrives though (today's win) you have to acknowledge it and admit that MAYBE we are on the right track. MAYBE the prognosis isn't as bad as we thought. In less than 24 hours my outlook has gone from bleak on the season to hopeful we may have a decent second half ahead of us. A legit end to end win like the one we saw today can change a whole season around. The NFL is definitely a week to week league, but to see the team fight the way they did today shows me there is absolutely hope for this team in it's current incarnation. They had every reason and opportunity in the world to come out and perform like dog **** today, and they didn't. They didn't. For me that means something and I will absolutely give them credit when it's due. Now, does this win translate into more success? Only time will tell, but it is entirely up to them.
  16. and I agree. Like you said though evaluating and tanking are not the same thing. Not that any of them would ever admit to this anyway, but I would question the intelligence of any coach, GM, or owner if their apparent motive is to lose games on purpose to get a high draft pick or to pick up a specific player in the draft. To me it's the epitome of a loser mentality.
  17. this is a fan construct. Can we say that it has never happened where an organization tried to lose...no...but you also can't show me where it was worth doing for that team. Andrew Luck was supposed to be a generational talent. He was a good QB, but he was not that guy.
  18. it doesn't work, and the whole premise is utterly ridiculous. You literally catch lighting in a bottle 99.99999 percent of the time with these players, and where specifically you draft them is of little consequence. I defy anyone to prove me wrong on this with facts.
  19. You have to wonder why anyone would try to spin this win in a negative light at this point. If you can't even be happy after a win like this why even be a fan at all? Nobody expected them to even be in this game much less win it. I can't be worrying about a draft position in 2022 after defeating the defending Super Bowl champions. We were given a bright spot today. Maybe it's the beginning of a nice run....savor the moment.
  20. I must say...to those of you still regularly posting here. My hat is off to you and your dedication. Perhaps one day we can all look back on this time as being the absolute lowest point of the franchise in every way imaginable. Hopefully the new brand will reinvigorate this fanbase, and we can one day have something akin to what we once were. I must say it blows my mind to look back on the seasons of my youth and imagine that kid ever thinking things would be like this, and I'm not just talking about the play on the field.
  21. After the Packers score a Touchdown on their first possession...
  22. @Voice_of_Reason How the heck did you beat me to a Baghdad Bob meme? Are you a mind reader? 😄
