Has anyone watched Piece of Her or In From the Cold on Netflix? Are they any good?

I have watched both. They are both "good." There are times when one just isn't getting "great" from Netflix because they've seen all the great stuff and are waiting for certain movies/shows to get released. This is one of those times for me. I'd say In From the Cold was the better of the two, but they are both what I call "holdovers." They'll hold you over until something great comes along.

Still too early to call Wuj a failure?

Yes, he's a first time head coach with no PG to run whatever his offense is, and the team is built around a player that is now out for the rest of the year.

I expected growing pains, call me if he doesn't show growth as a coach after another year or two.

Saying he's a failure already is insinuating he needs to be fired, I'm not there yet, I refuse to be there yet halfway through his first year.

I have to agree with @Renegade7 but I will say this- I judge coaches in the NBA by the team's defense, so in that regard Junior is already wearing very thin on me.

    Okay, I finished Euphoria.

Fiance wasn't into it, she couldn't make it past the first episode where the guys were in the room with Kat asking if she was a slut, etc.  So I watched it on my own.

I loved it and hated it altogether at once.  I think I hated myself for loving it because it's a drama about teenagers in a version of high school that doesn't really exist, though I suppose that's any teen drama about high school.  But this show took it to the next level, like I said a bunch of teenage characters running around acting like adults.

That said, there's so much to think about with this show and the acting is SO GOOD, plus the way it's filmed is incredible.  It is true art.

Yaaay! Glad you enjoyed! I felt the same way, being absolutely in love with what boils down to a "teen drama." Can't wait for more.

Good tank loss in LA last night

I'm with you on the tank but I wanted that one last night after the humiliating loss to them in DC last time. I still cannot shake that game. I stopped watching them for a lot of games after that and almost quit for the season. In fact, it's only the Staps acquisition that brought my interest back. Sickening loss and I wanted revenge. Nope.

  5. After reading through the first 3-4 pages of this thread, I'm seeing a lot of folks that still want us to draft a quarterback THIS YEAR. I disagree but would like to hear cases made for why we should.

    1. I'm not crazy about this year's class.

    2. We're not known for developing good QBs.

    3. We still need o-line, defensive backfield, WR help.

I'm not very savvy about drafting so I'm open to being corrected by those with a lot more college football smarts.

  6. I'm still in the "Free Brad Beal" camp. That's the angle I take on it. I agree with those that say he won't ever take us to a "next level" but honestly I don't fault him for that. He gave this team everything, was a fantastic employee, a darned good SG. It was the franchise that ultimately could not put a team together that could find big NBA success.

Set the man free to find a destination with a chance at something. Washington is too far away and maybe a "never will" type of franchise.

If you read the whole story she pretty much does and talks about how she's changed.

"Before issuing his sentence, Hogan gave Howell the chance to speak on her own behalf. She told him that she was “embarrassed and ashamed” and that she is not the same person who cheered in support of rioters who were repeatedly assaulting law enforcement.

“I can’t express more how different I am today,” she told Hogan, citing the fact that she has watched movies like “Schindler’s List” and read books about “oppression and bigotry and racism”—a pre-sentencing tactic that Shaner has apparently employed with other Jan. 6 defendants."

Stock answer for all these insurrectionists until they walk out of the court house and go right back to simping Trump.

Eventually they will need to send referrals to the DOJ.  And so far the DOJ hasn't done much.  We're more than 50 days out from the referral for Mark Meadows, and he still hasn't been indicted.  I'm not very sanguine about how the DOJ has been handling things.  I'd like to see a little more aggressive stance from them.

Me too in a big way, but- Could it be assumed that DOJ is actually busy behind the scenes and simply waiting for the J6 commission to officially send their referrals? I mean, what can they overtly do until the process has been properly followed?

I'm strangely into it.  I'm not sure why.

I will say, the way it's filmed is amazing.  The music is fantastic.  That whole carnival episode which sets a backdrop of something innocent and childlike for these kids who are running around and doing things that aren't for kids was great...and the music they used to build the tension was great, too.

The acting is really damn good, too.  This isn't something I'd normally watch but I'm kinda hooked.

Yaaay!!! Just wait until you get into season two. 😎

  10. Pardon my pathetic post, please- but after last night (or really after that Clippers disaster) is there really even a need for this thread? This team is trash. Last night's game was the first game I watched since the Clippers game. I figured, "Nothing else on tv, might as well give the Wiz another chance."

GAH-BAGE. They're garbage, my friends. Believe me, I understand your frustrating dedication. I understand the love of basketball and when we have a team in our city we need to support them. I'm a Bullez-Wiz fan since 1972. I just don't know how much longer I can watch a team that loses games to clearly inferior rosters on a regular basis. Hey "upsets" happen, I get it. At what point do I stop considering games like last night's game an upset? We're trash. I've just seen too many eras of failure.

Does anyone truly believe the old "This new player will change things" or "This new coach will change things?" tropes anymore?

I already stopped posting in the Stadium with any frequency a couple years ago because it just doesn't seem relevant to bother with the hopes for our football franchise. I no longer care who we draft, who we bring in to coach, which QB might change the course for the Commanders. 2-3 game Redskin or WFT win streaks don't raise my hopes. It's becoming the same mind frame for the Wizards. Go ahead, Wiz- win 5 straight. I know you'll lose 7 straight after that or 7 of 10.

I'm sad. I'm tired. I'm insulted. I'm soooo skeptical about all things basketball (and football) in this town. I honestly commend most of you for your dedication but I think I'm a lot older than most of you and I know this song by heart. They're garbage. They'll always be garbage.

Last night was no upset. It will happen MANY times for the rest of the season throughout what is supposed to be the easiest remaining schedule in the NBA. it will happen many times next season and the season after that. I can promise this with supreme confidence.

What keeps you guys believing after seeing games like last night vs. Indiana? Does Kristaps Porzingis keep you believing? Does a draft pick keep you believing? Do we all just have Stockholm Syndrome? I might be back next season but I'm done spinning my wheels in the mud for now. Almost 50 years as a fan is losing steam.

Another hostage to Trump's republican chokehold. The desperation to stay in the race when the unchallenged former POTUS trashes her candidacy is baffling. She's basically telling her constituents that she never had and still has ZERO independent decision-making ability and has to literally beg for mercy from trump AND the voting base to have any chance whatsoever. Pathetic.

The opening segment at home when Z and her mom & sister we're going at it was gut-wrenching.  I've never seen a more accurate depiction of an addict hitting rock bottom.

Zendaya already won an Emmy last year for her performance in Season 1 (best lead actress in a series), so I doubt they'd give it to her again for S2.  But what she did on screen last night was nothing short of magical.

Last night's episode did Game of Thrones numbers.  "Euphoria" was the #1 trending topic on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok last night.  HBO has created another juggernaut.

I'm obsessed. The show airs at 9pm on sunday nights. I start getting giddy at about 8:45. 😆

That said, Zendaya is a fantastic actress.  She's a great talent.

Spiff- Give it a few episodes. By the end of ep 3 I was hooked. It gets more and more intense every episode. Season two is pure insanity. I'm a 55 year old man who hates "teen dramas" but that show is the best!

shes not redeemable. Marty can still be redeemed imo in the eyes of the audience because although he has done really ****ty horrific things, the way Bateman plays it, it just feels like **** he has to deal with or something he is responding to. Wendy loves this madness and power trip and goes out of her way to ruin people’s lives. She’s evil and I hate that smug satisfied look that’s always in her face like she is just the best thing in the world.

    she has to die.

    as for season 4…

      Reveal hidden contents

It was enjoyable and very entertaining. The show has kinda jumped the shark with how easily everything always comes together. Like wow Wendy you have $150 million to spread across 5-6 state’s elections? That doesn’t go that far. You and several hundred  other people have money and influence like that, the difference is they aren’t connected to the cartel. There is no way any politician or kingmaker would choose to funnel election services through Wendy rather than an established political contact or donor. She’s been around 5 minutes in comparison.

the ending sets up really well for an action packed finish though with Wyatt being killed and the fallout of that.

if Ruth and Marty can make it out alive, I don’t care about anyone else. Ruth is 1A please survive and Marty is a close second.

I also don’t like how they ripped off Breaking Bar’s time skip ahead of the final season showing a scene yet to come and now we know based on that conversation several things occur. It also dramatically lowered the stakes and tension of part 1 regarding the family since it was obvious nothing happened to them. It worked for BB because it only showed Walter buying a gun.

it’s an entertaining show but not top shelf stuff.

I hope they're all murdered at the end. I agree though, I hate Marty much less than I hate Wendy.

This whole "root for bad people because they're the protagonists of this story" thing in modern television is finally beginning to lose me. The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Ozark, etc. I'm finding it harder and harder to continue cheering for the main characters simply because they're the main characters. Bad people are bad people and Marty & Wendy Byrde are srsly horrible human beings. I can root for Ruth because she had a tough life growing up but the Byrdes were well-off and got into trouble out of greed.

EDIT- Love the show though. 😆

Jones' audience won't see any of this as wrong, won't see how they've been taken, because they don't believe they've been taken and they believe he did nothing wrong.. INCLUDING laws he broke.

These people, Trump's people and basically anyone left riding the GOPs train to fascism don't care about the laws they break / broke, because they believe they are righteously trying to save the country, and the laws they break in doing so are unjust. This is why there is no coming to reason for them, their reasoning is clouded by fanaticism. There's no "haha, i don't care if he's guilty if he owns them there libs", they believe what he does is right.

Even the OCCASIONAL moment of clarity in which any of them admit that they know what is / has/ and will be done is illegal, underneath it all they think he's right.

I'm betting every single person that has so far stood before the court and professed their regret for what they did that day immediately left the court house knowing they lied to the judge and that they'll do it again if they lose another election.

  15. I'm still sick to my stomach.

Maybe I'm just all butt-hurt today but that's the kind of game that sucks the wind out me for the rest of the season. A team that can blow that lead and lose that game only shows me that they have no business being in even a play-in scenario at the end of the regular season. In fact, I expect them to go into a tail spin for the next 10 games. Any close 4th qtr from here on will show me the same faces I saw last night. I went to bed sour, woke up sour. Still angry and disgusted.

Epic, historic choke job. I think I heard someone say it was the 2nd biggest blown lead for a loss in NBA history. I'm not sure they can get me back this year. Definitely taking a break for a couple weeks at least. It's actually kind of liberating. Been a fan too long (1972) to forgive this.
