Martin Short is a national treasure. The man never ever ever disappoints. For anyone who never saw SCTV back in the early 80s, hit YouTube and find some episodes. Great comedy and it's where I first saw him. Fearless mofo.

Also- This series made me fall for Selena Gomez, who is much better as an actor than a pop star. Smart, cute, and seems like she'd be a good person in real life.

As far as I'm concerned, Yellowstone is good and I got wrapped up in it for awhile and I want to get caught up again.  But it seems that your reasons for not liking it are "garrrr, Republicans are bad, I hate everything Republicans like and Beth sucks!"

But despite that, you made it through two seasons :)

    1. Semi-guilty as charged. I just found the whole thing to be hypocritical. I don't judge The Godfather as harshly because it had a subtle way of admitting the characters were hypocrites. Same with Sopranos. This family (and the show writers) honestly believe they can justify everything.

    2. It was during a very slow period in streaming. 😆

I've already discovered that I'm in the minority about this show. NOBODY agrees with me 😆 and that's okay but here's my opinion on Yellowstone based on only watching the first two seasons before I had to bail...

Metaphorically, it's republican porn. Every right-winger these days sees themselves as a Dutton. I'll leave that statement right there for you guys to ingest.

Other than that hand grenade, I just cannot get behind the idea that the people in this family are the "good guys." Within the first 5 episodes I think Kasey basically murdered 3 or 4 people. Beth is a loudmouth, alcoholic whore with a ruthless murderer for a boyfriend and everyone just loves her. I HATE her.

I can't watch Kevin Costner in any role and suspend my belief that I'm NOT watching Kevin Costner. And these people assume any societal role they want on a whim. Kasey gets deputized with zero qualifications or experience when he should have gone to jail? John becomes the head of the game commission in like a week after having someone murdered? That's all about as Trumpian as I can handle. 😂

At least the Sopranos were transparent about the fact that they were criminals. This show passes the Duttons off as heroes, ffs.

Anyway, I know it's hugely popular and I know everyone enjoys it but I couldn't get onboard.

For most of these people, the conspiracies are an addiction and the participation is the reward, or the "high." The drug gives them the feeling that they're "in the know" and can "make a difference." It's a fantasy role-playing game that to them is real life. We tend to lump them in with the mentally ill but it's much more akin to drug dependency. The Q club is her gang that she communes with to shoot up and that's a family you can't disown because the one thing conspiracy addicts CANNOT do is enjoy the drug by themselves.

  6. I'm certainly no fan of Tulsi but I do respect her for that interview. She could have tossed softballs at him the entire time and I'm sure FOX would have preferred she do so.

I think it's a moot point to hope the republican congress will do anything about Santos. This is who they are. A house vote is a house vote, no matter how it arrives. They were willing to welcome Herschel Walker to the Senate. Is this really anything to be shocked about?

  7. Not sure if it's been mentioned here yet, but Alice in Borderland (Netflix) was a great binge. It's basically Squid Game but I think it came out before Squid Game. Japanese show about people being thrown into an alternate reality full of life or death game challenges. Two seasons with a hint to a potential third but could easily have ended after two.

If you have time off this week, it's a pretty good way to hit the couch and enjoy some down time.

  8. The point in the season where we can all "let go" has come early this year. Relax, my friends. You don't have to tune in to every game now. You don't have to worry about a playoff seed. You can simply let it all drift out to sea and enjoy your time without the stress of close games with late turnovers, injury reports, and the standings.

Sure, they'll have some 3-game win streaks to tease you but that's all only to ensure they don't get a good draft spot. Honestly, I love this roster but we couldn't match it with a good coach. That combo will never come to fruition in DC because Ted thinks you only need good players. A true great coach is too expensive or elusive.

Sooooo here we are again. THAT time of year when we can all breathe our annual exhale in resignation of failure. It just came in December instead of early March.  A blessing!

Especially after knowing he didn't use any of the money he raised to help any candidates.   He's broke.

Dude's a complete dirtbag.  (Most smart people knew that in the 80s.)  ;)

I honestly don't think he's broke at all. He just doesn't help anyone if it costs money. Not even "his" candidates.

This man helps NOBODY. EVER. He doesn't care if republicans get elected or not because he really doesn't care (no matter what he says publicly) about passing bills for his voters. What they want doesn't matter. Do we really think he cares about guns or abortion? Do we really think he cares about immigration or foreign relations? That's laughable.

Money is the only important thing to him. That and staying out of jail. This is why judges ARE important to him. Helping republican governors or congressmen? Nope. MONEY. POWER. WINNING. GRIFTING people who love him.

You are spot-on about the 80s.I definitely knew it in the 80s and it didn't require any "deep insight." It's blatantly transparent how bad of a person he's always been. That's what amazes me about the support he gets. 1/3 of his adoring crowd love him because they believe "God" has something to do with his rise to power (evangelist syndrome), 1/3 privately abhor him but they know they'll be driven from their community if they come out against him, and 1/3 simply share his selfishness and know if he's president, the business/legal landscape will promote their own greed.

Anyone, including the older school republicans with any sense of decency at all, see right through him. He's repulsive unless you're afraid of the god he pretends to worship, the crowd around you that will ostracize you for "betrayal" if you express doubt, or you simply share his world view.

  10. I don't know how many of you are on Twitter but here's my take on the Musk backlash there:

SO many users complain endlessly about him but don't leave the platform. Some of them claim they are "fighting the power" by staying but the only effective way they can hurt him is to leave. Twitter would be absolutely crippled by a true exodus. IMO it only exposes the amount of people who are addicted to tweeting.

I stay on Twitter because I like it and I don't get offended by the nonsense he posts but these people who claim everyday, all day to be offended simply don't just leave. Boggles my mind.

This Tweet and the myriad responses about parents who have gone off the deep end is just heartbreaking...

Aside from the parent thing, I'd like to address something else about this "Q" mindset: Many of these militia or prepper types have a post-apocalyptic fetish. IMO it's not even as much about conspiracy or politics as it is about their fantasy of thriving in a "Walking Dead" sort of scenario. If they start to see that they won't get this scenario, they'll start to try to CREATE it. All the of the other stuff (while taking up BIG space in their heads) is really only justification.

Just my opinion. I don't think it applies to the average "Couch Q" but for those that stockpile weapons/food, they're not doing because they think they have to. They're doing it because they WANT a world in which they can "rule."

Too many people driving the lane with ease against us but it looks like it’s possible we don’t suck ass this year.😊

Then again remember we started out on fire last year too.

Yep. I keep telling myself that the first 15-20 games on the season are not "the season." Good teams look bad early, bad teams look good early. Then things kinda go back to a pecking order. We learned this last year so I'm just enjoying what's happening now and hoping we can keep some consistent winning.

It is still certainly not proven that Wes is THE coach for our future but I do like this roster. Better depth behind Brad, a healthy Staps, Rui & Deni continuing to grow. I'll take it and hope that when the true season kicks in we stay in the hunt.

He wasn't better when he was a full time back.

The reason I have been pushing for him to be used more as a receiver, returnman and a spell RB is BECAUSE I thought he'd be far more effective in that role.

    So far, I've been correct.

Again- all good and I'm no expert. I just don't YET see BR gaining more then 2-3 yards per carry AT ALL and certainly not pushing the pile. AG extends every play in which the o-line gives him a hole. 🤷‍♂️

I think I'm in the minority though so I concede.

Drew kept bringing up we should be driving to the hoop and hunting for more fouls.  And he’s not wrong.

Especially when we're ahead late. I'm no expert (and maybe a few of you will show me why) :)  but my instinct is that when you're up in the 4th, don't start chucking 3s after running the clock down to a desperation shot. Penetrate, get the buckets close to the rim or draw the foul.

Gibson has been as effective as he has been specifically because he has not been starting and can stay fresh. I'm loving our RB tandem right now.

Ironically, McKissic seems like the odd man out although JD can do his thing on 3rd downs and is a good safety valve for Taylor as well.

I noticed that many agree with you and as long as we're winning I won't staunchly argue the point. I just see AG consistently out-performing BR. Better feet, stronger push, WAY better in space. BUT... Fine.

I think folks need to understand that marrying into blood (mostly for royalty) was quite standard many centuries or millenia ago.  I get that even being attracted to a family member is the awkward part but our society is not their society.

But Favre originally pocketed 1.1mil in welfare money before he was shamed into paying it back. So it's not like he was only just trying to help his daughter out by stealing from the poor.

I was not aware that he paid it back. The "shamed into" part of your post didn't get past me though. I'm sure he had to be coaxed. Just didn't know he did pay that portion back.

So no one is flipping out on the Trump QAnon rant where the audience was giving him a QAnon index finger salute?

Crazy... these people are insane and he has the complete backing of the GOP train.  And his rant was basically, "Russia would have never invaded Ukraine if I was still President..."

Someone told me... "the political parties all stand for the same thing... so why does Trump's personality matter?"  I would say, so why stick with the toxic personality.

I honestly can't flip out anymore. I've used up all my out-flips. It's all just regular Trumpy-nazi-culty stuff now.
