I think it’s possible Daniels was told it wasn’t going to be him and the agent and Jayden are a little bitter.

It’s just like he is trying to be RG3 and make those comparisons a reality. Family and/or reps being a bit too publicly opinionated? Check. Running QB who excels at throwing the deep ball? Check. Frail frame? Check. Yes, everyone, Daniels is probably a better prospect than RG3, though I’m not totally sold on that. But he is doing everything he can to make sure he’s compared to him.

I just saw this and… quite frankly… it makes me want Daniels less. And this is exactly why you have all of those guys visit at the same time. To see if anyone is dumb enough to do something stupid or if their reps will do or say something stupid.

Don’t you guys get tired of this routine? It’s funny that the items the “experts” are talking about now are the same ones a few of us were discussing in December. And most people here didn’t give a **** about until the TV/media started saying it. As far as I’m concerned nothing has changed. The analytics, production, none of it. Each guy, including Williams by the way, have their positives and their negatives. That even extends to Penix and Rattler (who I think is the sleeper pick in this class) I legitimately think any of the top 6 or so could be successful in the NFL if they wind up in an organization with a plan to support them that sticks to it. I can also see a world where any of the top six bomb. But in my head, when I’m doubt, you go with physical attributes, but limit the value of speed. Why? Speed fades. So to determine the guy I want I have basically said to myself: Who has the best arm/accuracy/height/weight/demeanor and athleticism? That’s who I want. And I have landed at, in order: 1. Drake Maye at 2. 2. JJ McCarthy at 4. 3. Jayden Daniels at 2. If we get to 3, I will be still be pretty ecstatic. But a touch letdown. But only a touch. The only thing that can derail me here is if we trade back and wind up with Kevon Slovis.

Agree completely. I think McCarthy is definitely the cleanest. But he's not the best in any category. Not the best size, durability, accuracy, deep ball, speed, etc. But he's okay to better in all of those things.

And I still believe this. I think if Daniels stays healthy he has superstar written all over him. I worry about our team having the necessary support right off the bat, but we are doing the right things. I'm in for whoever. I think I'd be MOST disappointed with Daniels... but not disappointed. If that makes sense. Dude has a ceiling that defies the word ceiling.

I have the opposite feeling on McCarthy vs. Daniels for you. I think Daniels has very limited potential... but not because of his overall skill set. That potential is through the roof. But because he is going to need to change his running style in the NFL and if he doesn't he's going to be constantly banged up due to size. Though, to be fair and to kind of walk my own take back a touch... McCarthy is very similar size wise. So I have SOME similar concerns. He just seems to protect himself better. But I still have the concerns for him, too.

I think the phrasing is adequate. Could be a bit more hardlined. But it’s fine.

This is where I am landing, too. I’m not sure it’s a mistake yet - I see the value. But there are major concerns there as far as frame and I’m curious what he can do against NFL defenses with lesser weapons, too. I don’t know, something feels a bit off with him to me. I think he takes a specific circumstance that I’m not sure this program is ready for.
