  1. I think that is in part because if you find your QB, you are not likely to trade him or let him walk. Brees was not the Brees know when he left SD, but a big question mark. Brady looked close to done in 2019. Look at Tampa's 2019 performance, their defense was decent and, outside of turnover issue, the offense was elite. How many points did they give up that were not directly or indirectly due to turnovers? It is pretty clear that they really aren't that much better except the turnover thing. Now, a big part of that was Brady and it won't surprise me much to see the Bucs scraping the bottom soon.
  2. I think of Gruden. His best year was in 2015 when he appeared to grow a pair because SM was brought in and BA was practically demoted (not officially, though). When SM was removed, Grudes seem to become worse every year and by late April 2019 seemed to have checked out after bending over for BA from 2016 thru 2018. A bend over attitude and lack of development even by very good technician would worry me if I wanted him for GM.
  3. Kyle is right now a great technician but his GM skills are probably lacking. During what should have been the years for learning how to be a GM, he basically had a boss named Bruce.
  4. A part of me knows the real reasons why Heinike is likely to not work out:. Name is too hard to spell. Since we failed to keep Trent Green and Kurt Warner goes from out of the league to HOF, I've wanted us to have a guy with a similar story. My dreams like that never come true.
  5. 2001 was the last year, went from 3 divisions to four and from 3 wc to 2.
  6. It is fine for a project QB to only make the PS in year 1 but the first tell that the project is a fail is if he can't at least win the last QB slot in year 2. If Montez is not good enough to take the last spot on 53, it is time to move to another project. Further, unless you think Haskins is a project, don't know why he'd be on the 53.
  7. No, a project guy IS a guy that is good enough to make the 53. Most project guys won't even make the team in year 2.
  8. The project guy will either be good enough to make the 53 or we need to find another project guy. Not that old. My real football fandom only goes back to 1972.
  9. My lack of faith goes even further back (1942 to be specific) because we failed with different FO structures and in different eras.
  10. If Dwanye is here next season, he'd better at least be our number 2. If you think he's only going to be 3, he needs to be traded or cut and a project guy needs to take that slot.
  11. Gilbert gave us an excellent year and then got us two first rounders after he took a year off because God told him to. Albert, at best, was a JAG in his first year (and that is being nice), wasn't even that in year two and got us a New England fifth.
  12. 0 faith in Team's ability to pick a QB at the top. Hell, Trevor Lawrence would probably be a bust if we had that pick.
  13. Advantage of a true elite and young QB is that you can rebuild around him every 3-4 years. Problem with the strategy of relying on big defense is that we probably get only a three to four year window although we seem to find defensive gems easier. Last time we used a high pick in the draft to successfully find the franchise QB? Sammy Baugh. You could argue for Snead since he got us Sonny.
  14. I get tired of that 'different time' bs. You go back in NFL history and what Gibbs did is a huge exception and that is your argument against that plan. The big difference was that a lot of really good QBs use to play for bad teams. In the modern era, not so much.
  15. McCoy has always played like he thought he was a 6-4 230 pound guy with a rocket arm. Colt never seemed to realize that wasn't true.
  16. Coles had issues with the turf toe but he was pretty much who he was after as who he was before.
  17. Well, yeah, assuming he is healthy, he is the primary RB for a reason. We also lose the ability to go 0, 1 and 2 backs with no personnel change. Of course, if he is not playing, that means given his injury, we'd be worse on offense. Half our passing game looks like sort of the run game anyway, so maybe we just expand on that.
  18. It would also likely mean any hope for a playoff spot is down the toilet.
  19. I was just remembering how Phil Daniels was such a great pass deflector. He had such great timing. So often when you see a pass batted down at the LOS, you are seeing a potential big play stopped.
  20. What people think you are also includes several weeks ago. Fans remember and weight critical fails over solid to great play at less critical junctures. Until tonight, people would have a point when they asked who we dominated. It is hard to forgive defensive fails when they were really the products of offensive fails.
  21. At the time, the only real question people had with taking him was the fact that we already had AP, Guice and Love. Few knew Guice had more major issues than his injury history. AP was old but, hey, we found him last minute. Love had the injury question but how likely all three would fail? We have found several solid RBs in late rounds or on the NFL garbage heap (one of the best backs we ever had). We had offensive line issues that killed the screen game. LB was a question and 3rd round is were you historically find a lot of good LBs. We also had issues at TE and the number 2 WR.
  22. When was the last time I expected us to beat Dallas whether or not we actually did? That would probably be our first game against them in 2016. The last time I expected a win and we did? Last game in 2015. Do not want a top 3 pick, hell not in the top 15, if we just waste it on a QB. In only two decades did we not use at least one number one on a QB (the 70s and 80s).
  23. Thing is, without turnovers, I could see us at 5-2. So, while people would be all over WFT's nut, the only real difference between the team that is and the team that could be is the turnover thing. The Iggs could be 5-2 if it wasn'r for TOs.
