  1. In the best case scenario, around game eight, Marty approaches his agent and they begin talking about a new contract. I really hope we don't offer a new contract immediately even though that seems often to be the case... unless we get a damaged goods contract on the cheap which I doubt would be the case. I don't know if Wentz can get it together or if his skillset is a fit for what Turner likes to do. The good news is he is still in his prime and still has his arm. The bad news is that he seems to wear out his welcome quickly and despite his talent keeps getting beat out by "lesser" QBs.
  2. Glad you are okay enough to go home. Take care of yourself and let others take care of you.
  3. I guess the good news is that Washington kinda got its first pick (given that Rodgers and Wilson were out). Now, they just have to be right. I don't love the move, but I don't think I would have loved Tribusky, Garropolo, or Marriota either. I also wouldn't have loved giving away multiple number ones for Carr or Watson. As for Washington's QB room, I still think there's a good chance we draft QB in the first round, but given that there looks to be exceptional positional talent and iffy QB talent this clears the way for us to go BPA which is always a positive. This is less of a desperation pick than it is a make lemonade trade.
  4. So, one of the best things about the Carson Wentz trade? We didn't trade for a QB with Andy Reid. NEVER trade for a QB that Andy Reid is willing to let go.
  5. That was actually fun to watch. I know which one I hope is right.
  6. They traded two thirds. Now, if they wind up trading a 3rd and a 2nd it probably means we won the trade.
  7. Jimmy G would have caused an ES conniption. Mind you, there's no move we could have made that wouldn't have resulted in hollerin' and wailing and screaming that this was the worst possible move we could make. Mind you, a part of me is hollerin' and wailing and screaming that Wentz was the worst possible move we could make lol.
  8. Think this belongs here too... So, here's the you can't win scenario: You trade for Jimmy G. You sign Tribusky to a big deal. You sign Marriota to a big deal. You trade a fortune in draft picks and players and hope somehow all 22 women lied about Watson and he is cleared legally and in Goodell's eyes. You trade for Wentz. You draft a QB you don't believe in at 11 (They still might do this) Can you imagine a scenario that would make the fans happy?

  10. Cousins. All stats no game. Watson is an easy one too since there's a greater than 50/50 chance he doesn't even play. Ryan as the third maybe?
  11. This is a pure potential play. It's a gamble that he can return to a player that he almost never was. I don't know if it's a joke, but it's going all in while holding a pair of threes. The only chance for a win is if the others fold or the dealer is really kind.
  12. So 2- 3rds or a third and a second. Not terrible I think it might be a bit of a premium if the Colts really were going to cut him. I don’t think I’m a fan of the player, but he does have potential and we still have our first and a second this year.
  13. That's where I stand. Besides, at this point, trading Watson because he "gets off" is a bit like selling your soul or making a deal with the Devil. The question is what will you turn a blind eye to in order to win? Even bigger is the issue that the sexual harassment issue is not resolved in Washington. It's not in the past. Sure, Ron and Mayhew had nothing to do with it, but the owner is under direct accusation and had to "voluntarily" suspend himself.
  14. In a few weeks, you very well may be able to get Wentz for free. Seemed like he burned his bridge pretty well in Indy. I don't want him either.
  15. i guess the silver lining for me is that neither the Giants nor the Eagles got him. They had a lot of ammo to go for QB upgrade. From what I am reading, despite what we were fed early on neither Seattle nor Wilson wanted to dance with Washington. Not sure there was a way to win here.
  16. Yeah, I think getting a vet QB only helps if it's the right QB. How many free agents are going to turn to their agents and say, "Holy ****! Washington signed Tribusky???!!! Get me there. Get me there now! This changes everything!"
  17. On the other hand, Burrow was rated as a sixth rounder before his breakout year. Sometimes, the light switch flips and the change is permanent. Obviously, I have no idea if that's the case for anyone in this draft.
  18. Washington with all our baggage shouldn't trade for Watson. Even if he is criminally cleared. Even if the way if they get word that he is not going to be suspended. The clouds over this franchise are too similar to what he's been accused of. It would be a PR disaster. We are the wrong team, at the wrong time, and the wrong moment to take a chance. If we do this, then we rename FedEx field Sky Hook.
  19. It's more than that. He's got to be criminally-cleared and NFL-cleared. We've seen in the past that Goodell will inflict penalties on players even if the police choose not to charge. Watson would have to be completely exonerated by the police, in civil court, and get NFL assurances that the league will not impose any penalties.
  20. This is kind of a silly thought, but it bugs me how Washington is often so contrarian. Analysts called last year the year of the QB and we went out of our way not to get one (Okay, we got Fitz, but getting someone on a one year deal is not getting anyone). I remember years where the scouts proclaimed, "This is the best year for wide receivers in NFL history" and we wait until the seventh round to pick someone. This year is supposedly an amazing year at a couple positions and once again we want to ignore it and may sell out to get a QB in a poor crop. Why do we always try to buy high and sell low? (selling low is Trent and Kirk. Maybe this thought of adding Payne in as a sweetener)
  21. I think this is how I view things as of today. I'm less disgusted by the idea of keeping Taylor Heinike as a starter as most. I think he's a starter. The problem is he's a bottom-third starter (say 25 or so) and so you need an awful lot to go right to win with him. Still, in a season where everything went wrong including every member of our defense regressing, we were one pandemic plague village away from making the playoffs with him. Heinike is my plan C. My plan A would be getting a star QB and by that I probably mean Wilson or Carr. I actually don't want Rodgers. He's great, but he's a diva and a pain. Besides, do we really want to trade ten number one picks and watch Rodgers retire in 2023? My plan B is drafting a QB in the first round we love. I don't know who the front office loves, but if they love someone get him. My plan D is Tribusky, Marriota, or Jimmy Garropola. I just figure any of those three will basically give us what we got out of Alex Smith, Mark Brunnell or Brad Johnson and while that's pretty good... ultimately, it's a pretty good that sets you back to ground zero with maybe a first round playoff exit to brag about. Not good enough for the cost. My Plan F would be Wentz (unless he's a vet minimum flier that costs zero draft picks) or Watson.
  22. Yeah, the second best outcome is that Ron straightens out the ship and turns Washington into a perennially average, borderline playoff team instead of a constant bottom dweller. That happens sometimes. Sometimes, you get a bridge coach like Pardee that sets the table for a Gibbs or a Lombardi that sets the table for an Allen
  23. Amazingly both Marriota and Tribusky were not only first rounders, but both were taken with the second overall pick. They are both cautionary tales as to how number one picks even very high number one picks don't solve the QB problem. In some respects, this is what scares me about drafting a QB we don't love in a year that's rated as being sketchy for QBs. They're all reaches. Now, we could strike gold as I think front offices and evaluators blow QB evaluations often, but all this talk about how you have to draft a QB in the first round needs to carry a warning label. So many first round busts.
