  1. I guess the writing was on the wall that we had to get a DT after cutting Ion and letting Settle walk. We decimated our interior rotation. I don’t know enough to know how he fits or how good he is, but it’s not a pick that inspires excitement.
  2. This only works if you think the FO will choose someone worth drafting.
  3. Usually the picks I really question and doubt turn out great. Therefore, we just got a steal.
  4. There’s got to be a law that the networks go to commercial during our pick. Then, the only thing they say is he loves his daughter? Booo! ABC. Booo!
  5. Beginning to think we should draft Malik Willis in the seventh round
  6. I'm a BPA guy at heart so of course I'm going to ask a needs question. We got a wide receiver. What other positions do you hope we hit in the draft and in what order of importance? For me: linebacker guard safety running back corner 3rd string QB w/potential
  7. I don't know that I know what I'm talking about, but a ton of WR routes seem to emphasize quickness and change of direction which I would think would relate to short speed. I'm thinking of slants, curls, and things like that. Long speed might help on post routes and certainly on bombs, but how many "shots" a game to receivers really take. How many times do you ask them to blow by all the defenders and just outrace them?
  8. One thing that makes me excited about this guy is who he was linked too. By and large, the teams that had their eye on Dotson seemed to be the really good teams. Many were thinking he'd be a perfect Chiefs' pick. Given Reid's knack with the passing game that says a lot. You want to get the defensive player's Baltimore covets. You want to get the offensive guys the Chiefs' love.
  9. Me too. He was the number one guy I wanted. In recent drafts there has been a guy who has fallen like Jonathan Allen and the fall is because the player isn't seen as an athletic freak. It's the opposite of the workout warrior, fast riser phenomenon. I think Hamilton will turn out to be a great safety. I also think that Rivera was true to his word in pre-draft interviews. He insisted he needed to get talent to make Wentz better. That was his number one goal and so he went with need. I will say I am a fan of getting the third back. We've struck a bunch of gold recently in the third round. Hopefully, that continues.
  10. Looked at bunch of the draft grade reports and basically Washington is being given a B/C for Dotson. The weird thing is that in reading the reports they mention all strengths and really paint the picture of a top prospect. The only ding on him is size. If size is the only thing holding him back then I think he'll be fine. The league's passing rules these days don't allow DBs and WRs to really mix it up so speed and quickness matter more than size. Now, size helps in wrestling a ball away on a 50/50 ball or in breaking tackles, but at least at the college level Dotson showed he was slippery/tough enough to get YAC. So, I'm not sure how valid this knock on him is.
  11. Think of Gary Clark and Ricky Sanders instead. Sure, we didn't draft them, but Washington has done really well with small receivers. Moss, Garcon, etc. The receivers who've disappointed us have all been big. Gardner, Westbrook, Doctson, Comb, etc.
  12. So, this isn't the first time that Baltimore snatched the guy I wanted right before we picked. Never trust Baltimore. As to the pick, sounds like he has ever thing you want but size. Given the modern NFL and it's rules, I think speed and elusiveness matter more than height. Don't know enough about the college game to know if he is a great pick or not, but we did need a punt returner and Rivera clearly wanted a weapon for Wentz. If I had any qualm about the pick it might be that it feels a bit like a need pick vs. a BPA pick. On the other hand, the analysts on TV were gushing about this pick more than a bunch of the picks that went before him. So, there must be a lot to like around him.
  13. On ABC, they may have gone to commercial right before our pick, but actually came back strong with pre and post analysis of the pick. I think I like the pick. Anyone know if he's a PR?
  14. The guy I wanted is still available. Won’t name him because I have two picks left to be frustrated, but Goodell needs to speed it up. he doesn’t need to wait ten minutes after the pick is in before announcing it.
  15. Whoa. That’s a huge jump to get a wide receiver… an injured receiver, too. they probably had to give up a ton, too.
  16. Okay. Saints traded up for Olave. Surprised by this hat.
  17. Wouldn't it be amazing if just out of habit four QBs were chosen in the first ten picks. It should happen. I remember reading on this board how the only player who mattered on a football team was the QB and if you didn't have a QB you had no chance.
  18. Tall is so 2000's. It's now the 2020's. Fast is the new tall.
  19. Frankly, the way these things work there's no point in trading Payne for less than a 3rd. Why trade him for less than you are going to get back in the compensatory pick?
  20. If this is true... and it feels like it might be then you need to see if you can pull off a quality trade. Mind you, losing Ion, Settle, and Payne all in one year would be devastating and an example of malpractice. Where's the overall plan? The player management? You shouldn't go from a strength to a wasteland.
  21. True though you really shouldn't draft first round based on need. On the other hand with Landon and I think Everette gone, we do have a safety need . Besides, we do have a huge need for a player who can cover tight ends. At safety right now, we have Kurl and McCain and while I think Kurl is a player I'm not sure we should be satisfied with McCain. Remembering last year's defense, I'm not sure an argument can be made that our secondary doesn't need improvement.
  22. The good news for Snyder is he has turned away fans from wanting to attend games. So all he really has to do is build a virtual stadium and program in the fans and fan noise. Question is, can Snyder convince NPC's to show up? I'm picturing the game experience will look a bit like... Q
  23. Why not?!? Honestly, I don't know what to expect this year. How long do we think it will take Wentz to acclimate and get up to speed? Will Jackson and the D get their act together? Who comes back healthy and productive? I can imagine a scenario where all we were really missing was a bit of health and a QB and Wentz playing merely above average shoots us to an easy 11 wins. I can imagine a scenario where we're struggling to get 6 because Wentz is a bad fit, the D and D play calling is as bad as it was for much of last year, and the reassembled o line can't hold up..
