JMS
A few choice quotes... Bush Thought Military Shot Down PA Plane On 9/11... Bush, Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, and the magic turkey... Bush prayed for ABCNEWS Peter Jennings at Pope's funeral... Bush defers all comment on Obama presidency...http://www.drudgereport.com/flash9b.htm BUSH MAKES PEACE: BOOK REVEALED Thu Oct 28 2010 10:30:31 ET **Exclusive** **Must Credit** "It was a simple question, 'Can you remember the last day you didn't have a drink?'" So begins President George W. Bush in the opening chapter ["Quitting"] from the most anticipated book of the season, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal. With DECISION POINTS, set for release November 9, Bush pulls back the curtain with a strikingly personal work that takes very few shots at his critics. The former president even stays clear of Obama! ** From 911's "Day of Fire" to "Katrina" to "Financial Crisis", Bush explains how he returned to his faith, time and time again. And the faith of others. The president details how he bonded with Crown Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia -- and a magical bird! Arriving angry at Bush's Texas ranch over the president's position on Israel and Ramallah, Abdullah quickly decided he wanted to leave. But the prince spots a turkey on the road -- and takes it as a good omen, a sign from Allah! ** The president reveals he gave the order to shoot down planes on September 11 -- and at first thought the plane in PA had been shot down. ** In the chapter "Stem Cells", Bush describes receiving a letter from Nancy Reagan detailing a "wrenching family journey". But ultimately, Bush writes: "I did feel a responsibility to voice my pro-life convictions and lead the country toward what Pope John Paul II called a culture of life." In the book, Bush describes an emotional July 2001 meeting with the Pope at the pontiff's summer residence. Savaged by Parkinson's, the Pope saw the promise of science, but implored Bush to support life in all its forms. Later, at the Pope's funeral -- and after a prodding from his wife that it's a time to "pray for miracles" -- Bush found himself saying a prayer for the cancer-stricken ABCNEWS anchor Peter Jennings. ** With 14 chapters and an epilogue, it's Bush's turn. And he'll even do it on OPRAH. A top Bush source explains: "You will find the president strong, loving life, and ultimately at peace with the decisions he made." DECISION POINTS ranked #29 on AMAZON's hitlist early Thursday.

Hubbs
Bush is still president. More people are starting to realize this. Approximately 60% of people, as a matter of fact. I voted for Candidate Obama. President Obama is a much different person.
88Comrade2000
Is it weird that he's going on Oprah? No. He did Oprah in 2000 and even kissed her on the cheek which Al didn't do. Bush is selling a book and Oprah is good place to go for that.

Yeah clinton's book was like a James Clavel book... It would have stopped a pullet being 1000+ pages.
cactitle
I plan on buying the book. I think history will show in the end that his efforts after 9-11 and the policies he put in place has dramatically improved this nations security. As for the economy. The policies that congress and different administrations make take years to really show the true effect on the economic wellbeing of our country. I cant stomach to hear so many liberals blaming the Bush administration blaming the crashing of the housing market and all the failing banks on bush when it was in fact the liberals who were pushing for so many sub prime loans so more minorities and people who never have qualified for these loans received them. Had there been stricter regulation this would not have happened. Who do most minorities vote for? the democratic party. Why is this? Big government and too many social programs that wast billions of dollars on needless things. Good strategy at the time I guess because Obama won the election and the house and Senate are majority democrats. However in about a week there will be some major changes and lets hope that whoever wins these mid terms start and try to turn some of this crap around. You should read up on the Net Capital Rule implemented by the SEC during Bush's presidency under a Commissioner appointed by Bush.

Bush's military response to 9/11 (aka Afghanistan) never saw the kind of criticism he brought upon himself with his administration's love for irresponsible deregulation, failure to sound the alarm early about the pending housing->economic crisis which they knew was on the way, craven and cynical political attitudes (even vs. other administrations: see stacking the Justice Dept.), and especially Iraq which had nothing to do with 9/11 at all -- and which actually drew resources massively away from the war people actually continued to believe in (aka Afghanistan). Not to mention civil liberties, torture, etc. W was president during difficult times but he earned that 20-something-percent approval rating. Time won't erase those historical realities. Some will fade but others will be brought into even sharper focus.

You should read up on the Net Capital Rule implemented by the SEC during Bush's presidency under a Commissioner appointed by Bush. Or the way that Bush's appointee Don Powell had the FDIC stop pestering banks to open their books and demonstrate the soundness of their lending practices in order to keep their government deposit insurance. Too much of a "burden" on those bankers. We will just take their word for it from now on. I'm not kidding.
