Joncevensen
WLB Arrington Clemons MLB Marshall McCune SLB Washington Holdman Newberry Barrow is gone I think cuz there is no way Williams cuts McCune, Newberry may be gone but honestly, last year Gibbs didnt cut either Molinaro or Wilson and they werent exactly standouts in training camp. Clemons will stick around. Marshall has done too much and has too much tenure to not be the starter, he knows he is the man right now McCune needs a year, thats what everyone has said so he is #2 MLB. Holdman is an OLB, he backs up Washington Newberry is a ST roster space I dont need to explain arrington and washington if we keep eight LB the last one is clifton smith i see barrow being granted a release or requesting a trade
forbeskin
I think Clifton Smith may suprise some and make it higher on the depth chart.
Joncevensen
fair point, but i dont see williams drafting mccune and not putting him in the backup spot. even if clifton has a lot of potential. and lemar just went beyond what was asked of him last year, he was to fill in, but he made alot of people believe we didnt need lavar, thats an accomplishment considering lavar is the face of the Redskins. bulldog
the fact the team drafted McCune and Newberry is evidence they weren't necessarily happy with the depth at LB for ST and for guys with some developmental upside. the fact the team signed Holdman to me shows that Barrow is probably never going to play again in the NFL and that the team is making plans to develop depth on the outside in case Washington has to move inside. Buddha
Khary Campbell and Brian Allen are two other guys that should be in the mix as strong special teamers.
bulldog
for those that point to all the changes at linebacker, remember that we have Arrington and Campbell coming back from injuries and Barrow not cleared to play as of yet.

Yeah, I think McCune and Holdman were acquired as insurance in case something like last season happens again. If a starter goes down, theres someone who can step up, AND there's still a legitamite backup behind the backup. On a side note, I like Buddha's new avatar. Edit: I spelled Buddha's name wrong. Mr. S
Clifton Smith. The McCune bandwagon is running high right now, but we also did re-sign Clifton Smith for 2 years I believe. He's gonna do something, or at least provide depth.

Higgs44
I absolutely love the depth we have at LBer. Its the stregth of the team and its where Williams does his magic. For the record, I seriously doubt Washington gets moved inside.. Holdman might be our MLB come the start of the season. But its nice to know we can shuffle at any time! TheDarb
It is clear we will have at least 20 LB's this season. <sarcasm> Depth and competition are good things.
BadKarma
Holdman is too talented to not win the starting MLB spot. The Skins brought him in to win the job from Marshall. I would assume that this is the end of Mr. Barrows career. Cutting Barrow costs us tho, I believe it was a 3.5 million bonus over 6 years. If he retires do we save any money on the bonus? Gamebreaker
I think Holdman will be our MLB. He's had experience there before, and that is better than putting an unproven guy in there and hoping he we get another Antonio Pierce.

Barrow got only a $2.5 million bonus. If he's cut after June 1 we will save $1.75 million under the cap this year.
Doctorfro
I think we need to sit Lavar's butt on the bench until he decides to quit being a baby. Barrow needs to go home and we need to give these other cats a chance.
Cskin
I like our LB depth as well. I wouldn't be suprised if Holdman won the starting MLB job, Marshall slid over to WLB, and Lavar played alot as a DE. Either way.... we've got a great LB corp. and Williams will use them how he sees fit. Side Note: Don't forget about Brandon Barnes. It was reported last year that Williams loved his size and speed, and he played alot in goal line situations.
