I say we get the best player available... regardless of position. I don't honestly see one position where we couldn't use another good player.

I completely agree with you here and this is what Beathard always did as well.

I would draft an Offensive Coordinator that would actually develop some kind of passing game. That way when the Redskins dominate two games like they have they can win by more than 9 total points. And perhaps that passing game could make a difference in the 4 games that were lost.

It's way too early to be thinking draft... but the key need areas to me look like this:

CENTER- It's the obvious main weakness on the line. Most of the penetration on running plays seem to come from the middle of the line. Raymer and Friedman are two backups IMO.

TIGHT END- Cooley is going to be a solid H-back but we need a reliable TE to couple with him. We need a Don Warren type but prefferably a guy that can catch as well.

WIDE OUT- The organization is going to have to decide if Rod Gardner is the guy they want to pair with Coles or if they want to go in a different direction.

CORNER- I only see it as a major need if for some stupid reason we don't resign Smoot. Even then with the injury history of Springs and Harris... it might be a good idea to add someone.

DEFENSIVE END- Last but not least. I only mention it last because really the offense looks like it needs more attention at this point. I really see this as the only missing component on defense at the moment.

Out of all those needs, at the moment I would hope they look for a pass rushing DE in the first round. Maybe a WR or a CB if we lose either Gardner or Smoot.

If he remains undefeated this year and keeps up putting up the numbers that he has so far (122/172, 1411 yards, 65.1%, 14 TD 3 INT, 157.4 QB rating) he’s going to be a first round pick.

We should take a DE as that is our most pressing need, but we might just take BPA again. Who knows.

why do a lot of you say we need a guard??? Thomas is an excellent guard and Dockery is still young and has a lot of upside...i doubt any guard coming out this year could replace Dockery...if we draft an O-linemen next year, its got to be a LT incase Samuels is gone or a center

Like a lot of people here, I like the upside of a guy like Kiwanuka. He could be the next Kearse, but I'd like to se more of him to know for sure.

To me the most obvious position of need right now is Center. We need a guy in there who can pull and block in space, yet does not get blown up routinely by the blitz. It has been frustrating to watch opposing D's come right through the middle repeatedly this year. This may be a position we can solve through free agency, you never know.

At wideout, I'm not convinced Gardner is the guy. He has a lot potential, but until he steps up I'm not all for keeping him if we can get a player or pic that is comparable in value. It may make sense to look for a true playmaker in the draft, and trade him for whatever we can get. We'll see how things pan out the rest of the season.

At corner, if the FO does not lock up Smoot, I will be pissed. The kid plays tough and has a lot of fire. He has gotten over his gambling for the most part and will be a solid corner for years to come. The only thing that has me worried about this, is what if Smooty decides he is a top flight CB, and wants to be paid like one? I mean I love Smoot, but he just is not the guy to give a huge contract to, because his talent does not warrant it. Smoot is good, but he's no Ty Law and he should not get anywhere close to that type of money. If he goes Poston on us, we may have to look for a kid out of the draft.

If the decisions were mine to make, I would do something like this. here are two scenarios for the rest of the season. #1 Gardner continues to play at current level. #2 Gardner steps up, offense gels and starts to play well.

In situation #1 I would trade Gardner for the best pick or player I could get, and then draft a big play type reciever that has shown a history of making ALL of the catches, easy or difficult. Then I would look for a Center. Depending on what you got for Gardner(pic or player) I would either use a mid-high round pic on a promising center, or look for the best guy out there in free agency. I think the rest of the O line will be ok, and Williams has shown that he can make do even with a banged up version of a D-line everyone thought was piss-poor. With the remaining pics I would look for good quality blockers, and the generic best player available.

In Situation #2 You keep Gardner, and trade down in the draft to go for a quality center and possibly DE. You get the best player available after taking a center, and any other depth issues you resolve with free agency.

Im not sure you can really judge gardner in the last two or three games becasue no reciever is going to excel when your QB stinks and you only throw like 8 completions a game. Even Coles, a proven top wr is struggling this year. Just look how TOs numbers suffered last year in a bad offense. Dont get me wrong, we made have to release gardner if he wants too much money, or gibbs may see things he doesn't like about him, but im just not sure drafting another wr is a good idea. We have gone after wr's 3 out of the last 4 years. I would also like to see jacobs step up.

we need a center most but teams pick a center in the 2nd round. that said, we should trade down and pick up 2 2nd rounders and a 3rd or something. i dont think we need a 1st round guy for next year. plus with cap constraints second round picks are much cheaper. but i would go center, DE, maybe QB/maybe dime guy

Mathius is very inconsistent atleast last year but makes those jawdropping plays that makes everyone remember him. He is more athlete to me and would be a pass rush specialist till he fills out more. I've only watched them pieces of 2 games this year. David Pollack would be a great fit late 1st because of his relentless hustle and run stopping ability. He'll be a high motor player the coaches will love and provide 7-9 sacks yr while playing stout run defense really a great fit in out blitz happy scheme.

I still don't see how you guys can make these outragous predictions. Especially since we're gonna be picking 32nd....;)

EDIT: I think that guy is a little tall.....hmmm..I wonder if he could get better though....remember otis leverette...that guy was 6-8......the tall guys seem easier to stop I guess......We'll see......I hope this isn't our guy though......260Lbs is too thin for me.....
