Sag
Just heard that Champ was named as a replacement to the pro bowl. I don't know how you guys feel, but I shuddered. The Pro Bowl game, to me, is a showcase game for the NFL. All teams, not just ours, take a big chance of getting one of their star players hurt....for what, $15,000 for the winners?... pocket change for these guys. Granted, they don't play as hard, and they have different rules. I think it was Jimmy Smith from Jacksonville that just opt out for some reason, hang nail maybe:), but if it was me, I'd write it into our guys contracts to come up with some kind of ailment to stay home, and give them the 15 grand "under the table" OK, That's my thoughts, curious about others. Die Hard
I don't ever seem to recall a player ever getting hurt - or seriously hurt for that matter - in the Pro Bowl game. Robert Edwards always comes to mind but that didn't happen on the field.

Am I missing something here? Or is Sag a touch bit paranoid?
Gamebreaker
I can't recall anyone getting hurt either. The defenses aren't allowed to blitz, and I don't think the players try very hard anyway.
indyskinsfan
The game is played in a "safe-mode" and the players take off quite a bit. That is why it is actually one of the safest played professional contact games. It's the SB where the player is going all out at break neck speed and the likelihood of getting creamed.

Remember Blaine Bishop of TENN. in the 2000 SB, being carted off the field with head and spine support devices, after a full throttle hit on the St. Louis TE ?? After dusting many a player off all season and the playoffs, he watches the rest of the game in the hospital, by way of the ceiling.

In the Pro Bowl, it's fun in the sun, making side deals in a speak easy environment. It's tans, bands, and fans. The only person hurt is the bellhop from toting so much luggage.
Guest fuji869
Way to go Champ, even though he backed in to the spot 2 appearances in 3 years as a pro is not a bad start to an NFL Career!!!!
Guest fuji869
What I like about the Pro Bowl is I can just sit back and enjoy the Game! I don't get all worked up and emotinal like I do for a regular Redskin's Game! Just enjoy watching football in a relaxed environment
Hangman55
Any chance the NfL take a mulligan on it`s freakin ommision of the NFC`s leading rusher, and pencils Davis`s name on the roster.
Art
I'm not overly worried about injury either. We can't bubble wrap the players when the season is done to protect them and the Pro Bowl is more of a safe environment than driving so it's not too big a deal for me. It's a nice vacation and solid showcase for some of these guys. I just hope Champ doesn't take it as an honor that he's in the game and he is still going to play with a chip on his shoulder for not being put in immediately. ragintd
There is more of a chance to get hurt in a pick-up game of basketball then there is in the Pro-bowl. Glad to see all of our first round picks in the Probowl for a chnage!
bulldog
I was going to say, as someone else did above, that the selection of Bailey in a small way soothes the fact Davis got passed over despite leading the conference in rushing.

I have been watching the NFL since 1972 and I can't say I remember a year when the conference rushing champion did not make the Pro Bowl team?

Does anyone else remember a year when that happened?
