The Lakers are the Dallas Cowboys of the NBA. They are the team that, if you just tuned in and don't know much, you pick up because they get so much attention. Whenever you see a sig that says

Go Cowboys
Go Yankees
Go Lakers!!

You know to stop wasting your time talking ball with that one.

Naw Wildbill I couldn't disagree more. At least with the Bulls we all got to enjoy Michael Jordan. He was and still is a joy and privelege to watch. Although I have a world of respect for Phil, Kobe and Shaq, it's just not as interesting or exciting to watch as the Bulls were. No way the Lakers EVER go 72-10, and Shaq and Kobe whine so much I feel like sending em personalized pacifiers. I don't hate the Lakers, but I certainly do root against them most of the time. Hell I root against any team from LA anyway.

sounds like some frustrated hoops fans to me.

the Wizards have benefitted from a first half schedule that featured a lot of contests against fellow Eastern Conference fodder. Teams like Atlanta, Miami, NY, etc............

the second half brings more games on the road against Western Conference opponents.

the road is going to get harder.

I would be happy that the Wizards are looking like a postseason team right now, barring injuries to Jordan, Hamilton or the centers.

As far as the Lakers go, I have been watching them since the mid-70's and I challenge HENRY to come on out and tell me that based on the team I root for I know nothing about the NBA

The simple fact is that the truly good teams use the regular season as a chance to see different combinations, what works against which potential playoff opponents and then on reaching their peak physically and mentally right when the postseason is about to get underway.

For other teams it is a challenge to win 35 or 40 games going 100% each night, with everyone on the bench contributing. Those kinds of teams often fade down the stretch due to cumulative injuries and too many minutes for key starters.

That is in essence what happened to the Heat, a team that consistently won more than 40+ games each season, but ran out of gas at the back end of a tough 7 game series in the playoffs.

But without Shaq out their that team is pretty even with the rest of them. That's pretty piss poor that they have to have somebody like Shaq in order to win championships. I mean freak Shaq shouldn't even be in the NBA he should be in the NFL. I see him more as a DE then in the NBA. That man should be fouled out every game. People got to beat the hell out of them selves just to try and stop the man. But I myself think the Wizards are going places.

Bulldog my good man, I could care less about basketball. I am a Redskin fan, period. Other sports really don't interest me.

So I have no doubt you are a MUCH more knowledgeable basketball fan than I.

However, I guarantee you that if I DID care about a basketball team, it would be the one that plays for Washington, because that's where I live. Maybe you're originally from LA, or Minnesota. I don't know your story. But you certainly don't need to defend your allegiance to me, unless YOU feel you do. I must admit that speech about rroting for the Lakers since the 70s sounded awfully Cowboy fan-esque to me.

But the bottom line is you are a Redskin fan, and that's all I really care about. Peace.

Regarding Shaq.....EVERY other team in the league would love to have him. The Wizards have sucked for so long in large part to not having anywhere close to quality play at center. I'm hoping this guy Haywood will blossom into a good one......Collins said recently he thinks Haywood can develop into having the defensive skills of a Dikembe Mutumbo.
