Then there’s a disconnect between what you think and what you say/write.

No there isn’t. Functions encompasses the total business. Whether it lasts long term is still up in the air. But for right now it’s a significant reduction in employees with

virtually no impact in the sites functionality.

But even if you are right, you aren’t seriously claiming that over half of those fired employees were possibly actually needed?

Just a ****ty leadership tactic.

Come grovel before me you pathetic peons … isn’t usually a great tactic for leading professionals.

i do wonder, given that Twitter had an estimated 700 employees on H-1B visas before the acquisition, whether a significant portion of the remaining employees are now essentially indentured servants where their only alternative is going back to India etc.

Elon Musk’s xAI Data Center Allegedly Fueling Major Smog

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company xAI is allegedly worsening a serious smog problem in Memphis, Tennessee, through the unauthorized use of gas turbines at its new data center, environmental advocates say.

The Southern Environmental Law Center wrote this week to the local health department and regional Environmental Protection Agency office urging regulators to probe the allegedly permitless turbine use and their pollution, according to CNBC.

The letter sent on behalf of local groups reportedly says Musk’s company “has installed at least 18 gas combustion turbines over the last several months (with more potentially on the way).” It also claims the turbines’ combined capacity could power roughly 50,000 homes.

The billionaire founded xAI last year with the goal of understanding “the true nature of the universe.” It’s since launched Grok—a chatbot that is supposed to be more humorous than its main rival, OpenAI’s ChatGPT—which has been accused of spreading false information about the 2024 presidential election and allowing users to make images that would fall foul of some similar products’ content moderation filters.

AI models typically need large amounts of power for processing and data training. In their letter, the environmental advocates said xAI’s data center “requires an enormous amount of electricity,” according to CNBC.

The letter also reportedly claims the facility’s 18 turbines emit nitrogen oxides—air pollutants that contribute to an enduring smog issue in Shelby County, where Memphis is located. The American Lung Association gives the county an “F” grade in its “State of the Air” rankings.

The turbines could emit up to around 130 tons of nitrogen oxides every year, which would allegedly make them the ninth-biggest source of the pollutants in the U.S., the letter says.

Musk Escalates Attacks On Brazilian Judge As Starlink Finances Are Frozen And X Suspension Looms

Elon Musk intensified online attacks against a Brazilian Supreme Court judge Friday after the court froze bank accounts for his satellite internet business Starlink, escalating a bitter standoff between the billionaire and the country’s highest court as a nationwide shutdown of X looms.

“Brazil is controlled by a tyrannical dictator masquerading as a judge,” Musk said in a post on X after Starlink said Brazilian Supreme Court judge Alexandre de Moraes issued an order “that freezes Starlink’s finances” and prevents the company from “conducting financial transactions” in the country.

Starlink, a subsidiary of Musk’s rocket firm SpaceX, said the “order is based on an unfounded determination that Starlink should be responsible” for fines the court has levied against X.

The order was “issued in secret and without affording Starlink any of the due process of law” guaranteed under Brazil’s constitution, Starlink claimed.

“SpaceX and X are two completely different companies with different shareholders,” Musk said on X—he said he owns around 40% of SpaceX—again branding de Moraes a “dictator” who “improperly punishes other shareholders and the people of Brazil.”

Musk’s incendiary rhetoric is the latest volley in a bitter and protracted feud between the billionaire and de Moraes over X’s failure to comply with court orders demanding the company block accounts spreading misinformation and hate speech in Brazil.

Elon Musk says voting by mail is ‘insane’ — but he has done it himself, records show

Elon Musk has attacked voting by mail as an “insane” idea that encourages election fraud, but he voted by mail twice when he lived in California, according to records of his voting history obtained by NBC News.

Musk voted by mail in November 2016, the year Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton, and in the November 2018 midterm election, the records show. Musk’s primary residence was in Los Angeles at the time.

The state records show that Musk had a sparse history of voting in California. During the 18 years he was eligible to vote there, he cast ballots in only those two elections. He became eligible to vote when he became a U.S. citizen in 2002 and cast his first ballot 14 years later, at age 45. He was actively registered to vote by August 2006, the records show.

Even if it is the mail on voter fraud idea was true I think the net result would be about zero. It there was a way to game the system for more votes you know in a two party system both parties would have already done it.

Thats the problem with all these types of conspiracy theories, the republicans and democrats have such deep pockets that if it were possible, they would do it.
